Battlestar Gallactica 2003

It was just OK at best.

The acting was marginally better than in the original (not hard), the story was meant to be a lot more "realistic" and grittier, and the effects looked much better,.. but overall it didn't do much for me.

The space-battle scenes looked great, and actually conveyed a real sense of speed in space, which is really hard to pull off successfully... but they were WAY too short!!! WTF?!? I don't watch something called "Battlestar Galactica" for the deep character development... I want to see **** blow up!!! Oy!

And what's with the Cylon supermodel super-babe? It might have worked before Terminator 3, but now it just seems like a total ripoff. Come to think of it, but the whole storyline feels like a ripoff of the Terminator or Matrix movies. The original Cylons were supposed to be built by another species, if I remember the old show correctly. And I'm getting a wee bit sick of killer robots turning on thier creators. Haven't these people ever heard of Azimov's Laws of Robotics?!? Jeez! It's not that hard a concept, people!

I'll probably watch the next part, just to see how it ends however, but I wouldn't feel too bad if I missed it.

P.S. - And I'm still pissed-off that Starbuck is now a woman. It doesn't work.

You mean the fem-bot?

It was pretty wierd. I'm still not sure if I liked it!!!

it wasn't too clear on a lot of things and

what the hell was up with the beginning? why was she attacking that guy (sexually)

There was a lot of people jumping on top of each other....

lots of sex...

I want to see less sex and more sci fi action!

It's not that that bothers me about the new Starbuck. The actress does a good job, I just didn't like the way they wrote the character.

I watched for about a half an hour, then I fell asleep, I'll try again tonight.

Well I was even more pissed tonight there was no ending. It just pissed me off that they made it out like this great SCI FI ACTION THRILLER and turned out to be SCI FI SOAP OPERA. I was reminded of Seaqest DSV - except with the lack of loveable charactors and the ocean.

I think that the bad guys were weak - we hardly saw them. The space "action" was ...well...I've seen more action happen when my baby throws toys across the room....

Very dissapointing.

Ya,.. it was lame.

A little confused about a few things:

Were the space ships firing bullets and shells at each other? That's what it looked and sounded like, along with all this talk about re-arming at the munitions dump.

You would think that any civilization capable of building a fleet of giant interstellar battleships capable of hyperspace jumps would also have figured out laser and particle-beam technology as well.

Why did the Cylons now have to look human? Other than it's most-likely cheaper to get actors than to CGI animate a bunch of robots. And why were the Cylons made to be religious? I can't figure that one out at all.

All in all I felt it was way too much talk and not enough action. It looked good, but it was dull.

Ya, I think they were bullets....

Even in the 70's they had LASERS....HELLO

and they didn't even have our cgi technology back then.

The cylons were religous? I must've over looked that.

I was pissed. I had wasted 4 hours of my life watching that crap.

They could have just made it a damn series and not had a 4 hour movie. I think that's what they'll turn it into anyway

Yeah, no doubt. They would have actually come up with some kind of real ending if they didn't plan on it being a series.

Well, I noticed that both the hot blonde chick Cylon and the greasy punk Cylon that Adama beat to a pulp in the space-station both mentioned God a couple of times in thier discussions. A strange concept for machines to be talking about,.. unless you take the viewpoint that this is 2003, and now all the movie and TV bad guys have to be religious fundamentalist fanatic extremists, and the writers were trying to inject a little of this into the story for some reason.
