lukeskywalker1
Is it really necessary? Its actually starting to bug me, both movie wise, and video game wise. You buy a new DVD, an excellant two thumbs up classic, pop it in the player, watch it for two hours, and your like "whoa..." you throw in the 2nd *BONUS* DVD, and it ruins the entire experience for you, because they just told you how they did all the insanly awesome cool stuff. I picked up a magazine the other day about SpiderMan2, and the guy who acted Doc Ock just told... everyone who read it how they did the tentacles, no warning coming. Sure its interesting, but it ruins it, because now when I watch its like "Oh yeah... well... it looks cool, but its really just..." I won't spoil it for you. If its not that, its just people in general telling you (for no reason at all) this how this and that happend. Im glad I don't know how a lot of stuff happend in Star Wars... or I couldn't bare to watch them. Even now, Xmen, and LOTOR are... almost ruined because I stupidly watched those 2nd disks. *sigh* Anyone else feel the same way? I know its kinda dumb, but... I just ruins the "awe" that some movies once had. Same thing with video games, although rarer. I remember when JK2 was amazing, then I started modding, JA came out... and a lot of surprise was.. not there, because I knew, or could have a really close guess as to how they did this or that. Sam Fisher
I agree, but on some movies, its cool to know what really was going on you know
Astrotoy7
umm...dont watch 'em...thats my suggestion if it ruins the magic for you... Despite being a huge SW fan, Ive hardly watched the SW SF discs, mainly just the deleted scenes and interviews with George Lucas specifically....thats about it.... mtfbwya
Sam Fisher
But I do like in the SW discs, the pictures of the people in Jawa outfits being clobbered by the guys in Stormie outfits ^^
Hiroki
I personally enjoy watching them. I know they are not real, they still inspire awe, and I still enjoy watching the movies after seeing the special feature CD's. If you want awe, try thinking of how much money that must have cost them, and how you wish that YOU had it.
Nerd_Annhilator
It doesn't really matter to me, sometimes I find it interesting though
Darth Groovy
My only problem with extras on DVDs is that some of them are just so dreadfully boring. X-Men 1.5 Looooooooaded with extras, but it seemed to just go on and on forever. I felt like I was back in high school as part of the stage crew for the school play. Then there is the Star Wars films. I currently have the original "unedited trilogy" which contains no extras. Then I have the "Special Edition" which came out in 1997. For some dumb reason they put all the extras on the beginning of each film. As much as I respect George for bring the most important universe to life, I can only listen to him for so long before he starts to put me to sleep. Seriously. And the deleted scenes from AOTC were pure crap. Even Lucas knew it.
Nerd_Annhilator
Thats why they were deleted.
ET Warrior
I knew going into the movie that all the special effects are fake...so...them explaining HOW they did it doesn't exactly ruin it for me. It's really easy for me to just get lost in the movie and not think about HOW they did the effects.
BongoBob
It's really easy for me to just get lost in the movie and not think about HOW they did the effects. Ditto. I went into the midnight showing of RotK knowing how they did the huge battle scene. I still thought it was the greatest movie ever made though. Alegis
It doesn't matter for me cause i always know it's acting when i'm seeing a movie. Except the times when i saw the godfather saga. It was if i was sitting in a chair in the end of the room, amazing. I only looked a bit at the bonus disc afterwards
RpTheHotrod
True....kind of like when I found out that the Aliens "smartgun" was made out of motorcycle parts...and the very rear-most part is a bike break handle, too...
IG-64
Pfft, I love the behind the scenes, in LotR, I watched the 7 hours of specal edition, I think it added to the magic, because you have 7 more hours of lotr ^_^ and I love to see how they did stuff, it doesnt ruin it at all for me. BawBag™
This is just silly. DVD's are all about extra's and stuff like that. I mean, it's just a movie.
lukeskywalker1
Well... yeah... it is JUST a movie. If I can get lost in it, of course I don't notice it. I never really think of them as actors... but as there part, unless they suck. True, sometimes the extra disk has some cool stuff on it, like Spiderman1 came with the demo of the Spider-man the movie game on its 2nd disk. Trailers and stuff like that are cool too, and deleted scenes (but they are normally nothing special)
Sam Fisher
Yup, LotoR I can watch I've watched every second of the special features on both EEs ^^ Just to look at those awesome swords!
Druid_Allanon
Heh, in fact, I don't really watch the Behind the Scenes part. Mostly it's due to laziness. I'd prefer to watch a movie and keep thinking it's cool rather than watching how they do those cool moves and stuff.
Doomie
I like the 'behind the scenes' stuff. Only thing i don't like is that on those old videotapes they'd put it in front of the movie, spoiling the entire thing, also showing parts of the movie and sometimes even the end or something. THAT's annoying. but after i've watched it i guess it's kinda fun to know how they pulled it all off. Though these days it's mostly 'we used a computer here, and here, and here'... - Doomie. Curt-Man
amen to that IG but i like watching the behind the scenes stuff, i think it shows how great set designers and costume makers are if they can transform an empty room into a rancor pit, and a normal human inot a twi'lek, very cool.
