SuicidalXWing
I prepurchased the star wars dvds, widescreen edition mind you. I go to watch ANH yesterday and realize the coding is all ****ed up. So I took it in after work to trade for another, bring it home, and coding is ****ed again, just in a few diff places. I mean WTF! Lynk Former
You'll find that there is a good chance that your DVD player won't play 100% of the DVDs you buy perfectly, it's like that with every DVD player it's unavoidable... unless you get another DVD player. swphreak
Yeah, it's you, not the DVD. I won't get my DVDs til next weekend

SuicidalXWing
Um, its not me. I was like the 4th or 5th person to return the widescreen editions that day. I tried the dvds on two different brands of dvd players as well, so I'm quite sure its not me. Just traded them in for full screen, which works just fine. Hence its the damn coding, not me. swphreak
VG Cats @ joke And we'll see what happens when I get my DVDs. It's in widescreen.
El Sitherino
I have the widescreen edition, and it works perfectly fine for me, even in my 7 year old dvd player. I seriously think it's your dvd player.
Lynk Former
Well it works fine for everyone except you and the people you know
jokemaster
The discs may have been damaged while getting shipped to your store....
SuicidalXWing
bah, I'm thinking it was the store. Now I'm trying to decide if I should try and trade the fs version back in for yet another ws or just suffer until I buy another ws edition. And no it ain't my dvd players, not any of them. Geez. Ikhnaton
maybe the DVDs aren't the correct region for your player. I would check the packaging and discs to see if it has the right region code. region 1 is USA/Canada, I believe. Region 0 is not restricted to a certain region. Rogue15
it's probably the store....what type of dvd player is it tho? I got the dvds yesterday....i like the fact that han shoots TWICE . the jabba scene is much better too...
Nairb Notneb
My wide screen version works fine, assuming you mean all of the changes are just fine that is. Have you tried other wide screen DVD's on your player? Have you tried the DVD on other players? These are simple tests that I would try when troubleshooting the problem. If you have purchased several DVD's and the same problem occurs, then it must be the player. What are the odds that every DVD you bring home is bad? SuicidalXWing
it most likely was the store, because I'm using it on my ps2, and didn't work on my mom's panasonic. Every dvd I own is ws except the back to the future trilogy and my anime dvds.
Nairb Notneb
Did you try all four DVD's or just one of them? Did you get a different set yet and try them?
edlib
My Ep. II disc always messes up in the same place on one of my DVD players, but runs just fine in all the rest. I also have a ROTK disc that keeps freezing in another of my players, but runs fine everywhere else. It's generally the gear, not the discs. Some players handle layer transitions better than others, and scenes with huge bandwidth requirments (a lot of fast moving action on screen) can make many players (esp. cheaper and/or older ones) totally freak out. Don't worry... in a few years we'll all be upgrading to Blu-Ray HD-DVD players and media and none of our current gear will be worth anything. Nairb Notneb
And when the new media comes out GL will release his newest version of his difinitive version of the Star Wars Saga for the umpteenth time, and like lemmings over the edge of a cliff, we will all buy it and say how terrible the changes are. Rogue15
i liked all the changes to the dvds...i like everything sw, mostly expanded universe stuff though. ah...i can't wait til ROTS.... the boba fett parts are a bit weird, hearing jango's voice...it's so...eerie. Lynk Former
The change in Boba Fetts voice was nice, he still sounded badass like he always did in the original OT but this gave him more familiarity... so to speak.
