"The Incredibles,'' $70.7 million. How much of that was made from the trailer?

"The Incredibles,'' $70.7 million. Why?

The Trailer that's why. How many people do you think showed up just to see the trailer? I'll bet Pixar and Disney owe Geroge Lucas a lot of money. In fact I know they do because Pixar is Lucas' baby anyway. He started the company and then sold it in its firsts years. So, imagine if Pixar was still owned by Lucas?

i think thats a mite unfair. after all your talking about a film that a lot of people put a great deal of work into. And i dont think it would be accurate to attribute Pixar's success to Lucas either. Plus the trailer contains about 45 seconds of actual clips from ROTS i dont think people flocked by the millions of dollars just to see that. the phantom menace they did, but that little phenomenon ended there.

hmmm....I'm sure it was a factor, but not to the extent that it can outshadow the merits of the movie itself. From everything Ive heard, it seems to be a really great flick :)

Pixar don't owe Lucas anything, he sold them, he made money off that....its called capitalism :D

I think Lucas (or whoever) just figured alot of people (including easily brain washed little ones) would come out to see the Incredibles, so why not jump in and get some attention?

At any rate, its just the TRAILER....i mean, come on...

EDIT: and any way, if there were any adults out there in the theatre, chances are they were "our people" and would appreicate(sp) a star wars trailer. phhgf.

I'm going to say...0 dollars.

Anyone who wanted to see it could have seen the trailer for free somewhere online or on TV. There is no reason to spend the 9 dollars on a movie just to see a 2 minute trailer.

The Incredibles made that much money because it's freakin awesome, and everybody KNOWS Pixar does awesome work.

I don't think it's really because of the trailer.

I think it is probably because The Incredibles looks like a kick ass movie. After all it has Samuel L. Jackson in it. Crap, I go see ANY movie if HE is in it.

After all the negative vibe from the first two prequals, I seriously doubt the E3 trailer had anything to do with it at all. In fact, I would bet the farm that 20% of those who saw it even knew that the E3 trailer was there.

Also, there are not a whole lot of kids' movies out right now, save for Shark's Tale, which is not in too many theaters anymore. Think about it.

i haven't seen it, but the incredibles got UNIVERSALLY GREAT reviews on slashdot. (never seen everyone agree on ANYTHING on there before) and apparently is a really good grownup superhero flic (several people said better than spidey 2) and has really good lighting and 3d...

I know i wouldn't go off to watch a film just for the trailer anymore... i DID for Ep1, i might just have for Ep2... and there is no chance for ep3.... that and the fact that NONE of my mates care about SW anymore tends to mean that there are only gonna be a few left who would go just cos of the trailer... not enough to make up the numbers...

From what i hear, most people went with their kids (adds to the number right there) based on the monsters inc/finding nemo/shrek 2 bandwagon... even though some thought it wasn't suitable for young kids (deaths, torture, etc...)

The trailer was ok, but so were the ones for ep1, and we know how that turned out...

I have spoken with at least three people (a very small number I admit compared to 70 million dollars worth) that weren't going to go this weekend, but they changed their minds because of the trailer. They are all die hard SW fans but don't have access to the trailer like we do here at the Forum 'cause they are not addicted to SW like us wonderful people are. I told them I would e-mail them a copy but they weren't interested in waiting for 10 meg download. I told them it was worth the weight in gold.

I bought a ticket for Wing Commander just for the Episode 1 trailer. After the trailer, I snuck into Cruel Intentions.

:naughty:

Win win situation, I say.

so you are suggesting that die hard star wars fans without internet are the sole reason for the success of this movie?

No, I'm not suggesting it, just asking if they helped to contribute any significant portion of it. I was planning on seeing the film myself (some time this week) but once I heard that the trailer was going to be on it I knew for a fact that I was going to see it no matter what. I spoke with several other people that I knew and they said they were now going simply to see the trailer, the movie was a mute point. One lady told me that she took her kids to see the movie, but she went to see the trailer. She had rented and watched TPM and AOTC right before she went just to set the mood. I then asked her why she didn't own her own copies? I got a blank stare in return.

*snaps fingers*

Thats it! Thats the movie I kept comparing it to, but never realized I was, it is better than Spidey 2.

Some of the action parts are like the hospital fight in SM-2, so it like, 5 times better :D

SEE IT, SEE IT NOW!!!!

... Or could it perhaps be because The Incredibles is one of the best movies evAr?

I agree. I've wanted to see this movie since I saw the teaser at Finding Nemo. There was NO way I was gonna miss it on the big screen, so the EPIII trailer was just a perk. ;)

A FREAKING AWESOME ONE!!!!!!

Not only that, picked it up at midnight AND didn't goto sleep.

it's now 11 AM. I've been 29 hours without sleep, and I still have an exam tonight :indif:

but yeah, I really think anyone who would go to see a movie just for a trailer needs to learn about teh intarnet / Television. Both of these are things you already have, and don't incur an extra cost of a movie on top of it.

Episode 1 was back in 99'. My only interent option was a 56k modem on a POS cpu. 9 bucks to see the episode 1 trailer and a lesbian kiss sounded like a hella' good idea to me.
