Leper Messiah Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 one thing i dont understand, why was Boba Fett so popular, after all he had fairly minor roles in both the OT films he was in but he became something of an icon, whyfore?
Shok_Tinoktin Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 He's the bounty hunter that caught Han! That has to count for something.
Lynk Former Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 A lot of minor characters have their fanbase cause they're characters that people really want to get to know more. They do one or two cool little things like capturing one of the main characters or piloting an X-Wing and helping take out the second Death Star or just plain surviving to the next movie and people love em for it.

Lynk Former Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Well he's a bad guy and he wears armour that looks cool. What more do ya want? lol
Leper Messiah Posted November 15, 2004 Author Posted November 15, 2004 Originally posted by Lynk Former Well he's a bad guy and he wears armour that looks cool. What more do ya want? lol *still confused*
Shok_Tinoktin Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Okay, he tracked Han to Bespin. That has to count for something. Also, what Lynk said. You have to keep in mind that merchandising plays a big part in Star Wars, and you have to admitt that Boba Fett makes a really good action figure. GL originally didn't intend or expect Fett to be a popular character, but seeing that he was he was brought back for ROTJ and AOTC (not to mention actually given a name).
El Sitherino Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 Originally posted by Leper Messiah he didnt really catch him, he tracked him to Bespin thats about it. yeah, tracked him to bespin where he alerted the empire, thus caught him. SHazaam! Boba Fett is just awesome, we heard the "no disentigrations" and it was suddenly a mystery of what was vader talking about? there was an aura about him.
Lynk Former Posted November 15, 2004 Posted November 15, 2004 And you know that Fett doesn't fear Vader at all. They even stand side by side as if they knew eachother
CapNColostomy Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 What's all the confusion about? He had a cool costume. A bit part. And people were interested. That's like...all easy or something. Why do people like anything?
Rogue Nine Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 You also have to take into account all the EU stuff that involves Boba Fett, especially the Mandalorian Armor books. His popularity is both a factor and a product of those. But the best character with a bit part in SW is definitely Wedge Antilles.
Lynk Former Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 Originally posted by Rogue Nine But the best character with a bit part in SW is definitely Wedge Antilles. Damn straight Wedge is such a champ!!
Sabretooth Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 People remember those who are either good or bad, nothing in between. Take Jabba, for example. He is fat, slimy, gross and just bad. People remember him. Boba Fett, Cool, Radio-voice, Jet Pack and hell of a lot stuff, Cool guy. People remember him. Admiral Ackbar, Background, Good side, not too special. Nobody remembers him. You get it, see?
Shok_Tinoktin Posted November 16, 2004 Posted November 16, 2004 I don't get it. Are you saying that Ackbar was something between good and bad? Originally posted by Sabretooth Admiral Ackbar, Background, Good side, not too special. Nobody remembers him. He is too special. I remember him.

Like, when I write code and have divide by zero errors, I like to yell "It's a trap" It's funny if you know that a computer executes a trap when you divide by zero.....

kipperthefrog Posted November 19, 2004 Posted November 19, 2004 I got aquainted with Boba Fett in the video games. then I noticed the action figure. looking at the armor. jetpack, equipment, ropes, built in weopons, and pockets and stuff, I thought "I'D LIKE A SUIT LIKE BOBA FETT'S!"
