Where can I host my mods / pictures?

You ain't the only one Prime.

I'm with you and Prime on this DK.

Doc, I mean no offense as I'm sure your intentions are only good, with trying to provide another place to host mods since PCgamemods has been "unreliable" as of late, but I believe we had a problem a while back with a site hosting mods the creator didn't upload, I believe it was Kotorfiles actually... don't remember. Anyway, I was browsing the avaliable mods and some of the older modders stuff was in the Kotor section, people like gameunlimited and Talchia whom, granted I've been away a while, but I haven't heard from them in a while and I doubt they submitted the mods themselves, but if they did I apologize.

The files that are already uploaded were present on the old KotOR.com mods site, and have simply been moved to a new and better server. If you see a file of yours there and would like it removed, contact myself via email, or PM me at either KotORForce.com or here at LucasForums. They were uploaded to mods.kotor.com around three years ago.

I'm afraid that some people seem to think that I have the capability or authority of changing the permissions myself. I don't. It's up to rasp. He's adament about users having to register in order to download a mod, in hopes that those members will post on the regular forums after they register.

We did (did being the key word)... since then, there has been new management and I've worked with them to re-establish a good relationship with them :)

Kotorfiles = FileFront (whenever I'm referencing it)... ;)

I've uploaded all of my mods over there as a show of faith and Shem, Jedikilla & InyriForge have been nothing short of superb at keeping the "new & improved" site under careful watch. I support them and Kotorfiles/FileFront fully now :)

Sorry for the double-post gang, but I didn't want to delete it because it contains a response about FileFront that I feel is important for modders and this community :)

Anywho.... for the topic...

I've added 4shared to the list in the first post. :)

http://www.4shared.com/

1gb Free, more space available for an annual subscription. 50mb limit per file.

Good site and doesn't seem to have a bandwidth limit. If it can support the massive downloads an Oblivion mod can get without crashing, I'm sure they'll welcome the KotOR/TSL community as well :D

Sorry for the double post, my edit button seems to be on the blink... :(

t35.com is an EXCELLENT ftp based site as you get unlimited webspace etc (as long as you put a hosted by t35.com footer on all pages) and a free sub-domain (XXX.t35.com)

An excellent option if you ask me. :)

Greetings, I am Ki from FileFront and TheRogueForums. With the demise of FileFront, we're looking to launch a new files site for KOTOR and TSL. Since the majority of modders hail from Holowan, I'm just curious- would we have your support?

Just saw the news. :(

Definitely.

The files from KotORFiles are NOT going to be lost.

Darth InSidious and I are working to download each and every file one by one.

At this moment, there is only one Category left to do, and the K1 side is completely backed up.

Just letting you know to prevent panic..

:)

But wont you need every modder to give permission to upload it to a new site? Besides PMing the file to somebody.

I've just given Marius a hand with some files. How they get distributed is something to worry about later on, the important thing is they won't be lost.

Yeah. Most of the KotOR 1 files are now safely backed up, as are a vast majority of the TSL files.

As Stream said, working out how to distribute them again isn't important right now. The most important thing is, as he said, to back everything up safely.

I've been working off and on on some new stuff and would like to have a good place to post it when I get it done, one day... lol I need a new site to check out every day for KOTOR stuffs!

Just a Question or two: are you breaking the whole distribution ethics sanctity deal by uploading mods you have to a password-for-download secure server?

I distribute my (haphazardly) archived mods personally via email address. Snag is I cannot go to storage, get discs, look through them (with thousands of files besides several hundred other mods) and distribute on every request I get. I know uploading them to an open place like kotorfiles is a nono without author's permission...but is there seriously no other way I can make it easier on myself to share old PCGM mods?

The 'capper' honestly is publicly linking to it out right. Pretty much the same no-no as uploading to Kotorfiles without permission.

If you want to make it easier, you can upload the files to your storage medium of preference, however you MUST keep the link(s) personal/private.

This is pretty much how I have my archive of mods up on JumpStationZ. However, to DL anything, you need to receive a PM/email by me giving you the proper link.

The understanding is... If I EVER catch a link to my archives posted elsewhere (publicly).. I will password the directories. Or be a real ass and take down the whole archive no matter the loss.

Leechers beware :devsmoke:

If this doesn't look appealing to you, unfortunately there's not really much choice left. If it's a burden to look up the mods/links.. you can give your archive link (privately) to a choice member(s) to help you watch over the requests thread. If you're not around to hand out the link, then your wing (wo)man can .. hehe.

NexusMods.com now hosts KOTOR 1 and KOTOR 2 files.

The more files people host there, the sooner they'll add support to Nexus Mod Manager for automatic mod installs and conflict resolution.

I request an admin/mod add NexusMods (and Imgur) to the first post in this thread.

Seconded. Probably one of the most reliable mod servers around nowadays other than Deadly Stream. ;)

Placed my mods over there a while ago and have seen some pretty impressive results. Peeps are still hungry for K1 / K2 mods.. nexus helps the 'casual' browser too lazy to search for the dedicated SW modsites find'em.
