IG-64
I just got back from seeing this movie, and it was a very fun movie to watch. The stylization was good, it wasn't overly dark or anything. The characters were nicely charactered. The humor was done well too. It was just a good movie to sit down and watch. Johnny Depp did a very good job as well. Complaints? Well, the Oompa Loompas. The forced perspective could've been done better, and the songs were a little dumb, but they were supposed to be anyways. I'd definately reccommend going to watch this. RpTheHotrod
I enjoyed the movie, but I got creeped out when the credits started to play. The audience started singing along to the Willy Wonka song....

toms
The oompa loompas looked just WRONG in the trailer... so i'll be surprised if they can overcome people's mental image of what an oompa loompa should look like (fromt he original movie)
swphreak
From the hour I've seen so far, it looks to be a fun and entertaining movie. Depp did a good job. I don't like the new Oompas... too strange. Although, I only like 2 of the new songs. The fat kid's song, and the smart kid one. Count Dooku and Saruman are dentist! 4/5 stars.

I thought that the Oompa Loompas and their songs were lame. I wish would have at least looked more like the original. I haven't seen the original in a long time but at the end of it I remember Charlie getting the factory after the test with a hired spy or something. In this one they mentioned spies but they got rid of the spy test at the end which disappointed me some. Johnny Depp was excellent as he is in all, or at least most, of his other work but I prefer Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. This was a fairly good remake considering most remakes I have seen in the past are crap. This remake almost made me forget that Tim Burton made piece of crap Planet of the Apes remake. Overall I enjoyed this movie but I think the original is vastly superior. Will someone have to explain this one more time? My God man. It's not a remake. It's based off the book. toms
From what i can tell its not any closer to the book than the original one... its just that it varies in different ways. they definately seem to have made major changes to the Wonka character with depp's portrayal... wheras the Wilder one seems closer in spirit to the Wonka in the book. So while they are both different variations on the original story neither is particularly a "definitive version" of the book.
