'89 Accord LXI.

It does it's job, that's all I need.

hey that was my first car !! (excluding my parents ones I occasionally drove til I was about 23 yo) I actually sold it to my gf, she drives it to this very day.

Now I have a Honda HRV, which is like a mini version of their CRV 4wd. Im glad it got it rather than the CRV, because petrol prices are through the freakin roof atm :(

I like to keep my 'dream cars' realistic, namely, ones which I will be able to afford to buy !! My next car, which isnt due for another 2-3 years will be either a Honda Insight or a Toyota Prius. Both are electric-fuel hybrids, so are a bit more economical to run. At this stage, Im leaning more towards the Prius as they are available in a sedan. I dont want another 2 door.... In addition, Toyota Prius interiors are absolutely awesome... At the end of the day tho, it will all depend on what my finances are like at the time. Im planning on doing alot more travelling into Europe & Sth America in upcoming years, so might just settle for a little Honda 'Fit' or 'City' :)

I know that hybrids are a good idea as far as environment and fuel economy go, but I think it was in "Mission to Mars" when one of the astronauts said in reference to his classic Corvette..."Internal combustion, gentlemen...accept no substitutes!" I just crave the horsepower (not to mention the classic styling).

Right now I drive a 2000 Cavalier that I've owned since '01, when that one dies or when I decide it's time for a new car I'm deffinately eyeballing a Prius. I <3 those cars.

MdKnightR still wonders what people see in the Prius other than fuel economy. Its not a very attractively styled car IMHO.

well, for one thing it is a nice passenger car even without the excellent fuel economy. i've been in one before, and the overall quality is definately top notch. my understanding is that its also an excellent car to have for city driving, and that's not just the fuel ecomomy. oh yeah, and an automatic parallel parking system. :D

My car.. a '99 Oldsmobile (Old Man's Mobile ;) ) Bravada. Pretty much a Blazer with Old's name tagged in front of it. Nice little ride, SmartTrak all-wheel drive with enough cargo area for me to haul equipment and such (lighting & camera stuff for on-location shoots)...

And surprisingly enough, really great gas mileage... of course I live about 5-10 minutes from everything so gas-guzzling isn't a worry for all of those SUV bashers out there :xp:

My favorite, Holden LC Torana GTR XU-1, mine was fitted with a 250hp 3.3 litre engine, which was competitive against 400hp Cleveland 351's on the right track (they won the national touring car race in 1972 against them and only lost in 1973 because they ran out of fuel). Goddamn fast little car, they weigh nothing and rock like a snorting bull on the cam idle (326 degrees adv.dur., 106 overlap and .456" lift for all you engineers out there, which is a 51/91 cam, nope not a 30/70, not a 35/75 but a 51/91, this thing spat raw fuel out the exhaust until about 4000rpm and had a torque curve like a rocket ship and if you did it right, could break loose at 50mph). Others have gotten 300hp out of them at the rear wheels and we're talking a '72 OHV straight six with only 9 ports. The original release LJ got 212 rear wheel hp in street trim back in the age of flares, the LC variant pictured above got about 200hp at the wheels with its 3.0 litre engine, smaller carbs and milder (46/86) camshaft in 1971.

Here's an LJ version (some minor cosmetic changes and engine base for the racer was uprated from 3.0 litre in the LC to 3.3 litre in the LJ, my engine was out of one of these although my car was a '71 LC).

And here's the 380-420hp XY GTHO Phase III they raced and beat in '72. For a very long time it was the world's fastest four door sedan and are worth about AU$70,000+ now if documented and original (concourse condition of course). An original XU-1 will set you back about AU$20,000.

Making up the trio of 1972 front runners is Australia's Charger (under the Valiant and Chrysler badges), the E38/E49 which churned 280 and 300 bhp respectively out of their 265 hemi sixes and were the fastest production quater milers in Australia for 30 years at 14.0 and 13.8 seconds respectively, in street trim. I figured since somebody liked Dodges...

Anyway, something happened a while ago and I had to give up my Torana. I haven't really been the same since, owning things like a Saab 900 Turbo, a Hyundai I think it was, and a Volvo hatch (slowest car I've ever owned, it was a lead brick with handling to match and the heaviest steering I've ever come across).

I don't have the money to own anything right now.
