Vladimir-Vlada
Don't you mean Detroit Rock City? The movie about teenage KISS fans in the late 70s? Yes, that's the one. I died laughing while I watched it. Thankfully it was the last of it's kind (or so I though). Don't tell me? Another "SUPER EFFECT MOVIE WITH GREAT ACTION" Geez I thought that they stopped producing those. When are they going to start making good movies like in the old days? {Wrong Vladimir! "Cinderella Man" is a proof that some people make those things.} ^^^ Oh, yeah! Great movie.
Hannibal
You know what's funny about It's a Wonderful Life? It's a classic but it was panned and people didn't like it that much when it came out. But people started to appreciate it when they started playing it during the holidays. When I was a kid it would play on every channel. Sometimes it would be on 2 channels at the same time. Crazy. I don't have a best but my worst is the 2nd Batman movie. That is the only movie I've fallen a sleep on in the theatre and I've saw 2001 when I was really, really young.
Astrotoy7
You really need to break this down into genres: BEST Scifi: 2001: A Space Odyssey Space Fantasy: The Empire Strikes Back (starwars.com officially stated that SW is NOT sci-fi !!!) Fantasy: The whole LOTR Trilogy, though ROTK was the standout for me Comedy: This is real hard.... the movie I LMAO the most at the theatres was the South Park movie, definitely. Though those Eddie Murphy classics like 'Distinguished Gentlman' and 'Coming to America' were always great Thriller: Blue Velvet directed by David Lynch Period Drama: Dangerous Liaisons Arthouse: a dead tie between The Draftmans Contract directed by Peter Greenaway or Fire Walk With Me directed by David Lynch Action: Kill Bill vol 1 Raiders of the Lost Ark Asian-Action: Hero directed by Zhang Yimou (Chinese) Horror: Bram Stokers Dracula Nightmare on Elm Street Shakespeare: Hamlet directed by Laurence Olivier Throne Of Blood(Macbeth) directed by Akira Kurosawa (japanese) Romeo & Juliet - directed by Franco Zafirelli (Italian) WORST Dungeons and Dragons All 3 Species movies Any film by Mary-Kate & Ashley mtfbwya

Though those Eddie Murphy classics like 'Distinguished Gentlman' and 'Coming to America' were always great For me, this is easy...Me, Myself, and Irene! When he went crazy for the 1st time (the milk moustache, among other antics), I laughed so hard that I had to stop the movie and I laughed uncontrollably for 30 minutes afterward! Absolutely the funniest movie I have ever seen! Before that was Down Periscope. The scene where they were trying to remain quiet as the nuclear sub passed over them and the cook farted made me laugh so hard that I gave myself a nosebleed! Too funny! montnoir
Best Kung-Fu: Legend of the Wolf (directed by Donnie Yen) best choreography ever and also a man dodging bullets without special effects - crazy (watch the movie and you'll see what I mean) Best Wuxia: A Chinese Odyssey (starring Stephen Chow) wow, just wow Best Gun-Fu: the uber-masterpiece in the gun-fu category is still The Killer (directed by John Woo starring Chow Yun Fat) and Ballistic Kiss(starring Donnie Yen) deserves an honorable mention (and NO it's NOT Ballistic with Banderas and Lucy Liu) Best Horror: Clive Barker's Nightbreed more a fantasy than anything else, it has a dreamy quality over it that hasn't been achieved by any other movie yet

igyman
Since when is Queen of the Damned a horror movie? And when talking about vampires, one of the best vampire movies I've seen was ''Interview with a vampire''. One of the worst ''wannabe horror'' movies I've seen (and this is not counting ''Friday the 13th'', definitely the stupidest horror ever) is ''House of the Dead''.
mimic666
It was supposed to be a horror flick... at least I think. I really didn't want to post every Vampire flick I've seen... any movie I've seen for that matter. Interview with a Vampire?... how about Los Veratu? that's a good one also. I said Day of the Dead, not House of the Dead... Which really sucked not worth buying.
igyman
I said Day of the Dead, not House of the Dead... Which really sucked not worth buying. I know what you said. ''House of the Dead'' is a wannabe horror movie based on a video game of the same name and it sucks (and this is an understatement).
Mace MacLeod
Worst movie ever? Battlefield Earth for the win! You called it. The most comprehensive study in "bad" that I ever saw. Bad acting. Bad writing. Bad ending. Bad plot. Bad characters. Bad costumes. Bad directing. It's so hard to say what was the worst factor--the Klingon meets Jamaican basketball team alien costumes, Barry Pepper emoting to levels only previously seen in Mexican soap operas, or the fact that the guy directing shot EVERY SINGLE SCENE in some weird angle tilted left or right. It can't even get to that so-bad-it's-good level. I saw it for $1 at a midnight screening in a second-run theatre just to see if it was as bad as everyone says. It was. Best--Godfather 1 & 2, Natural Born Killers, Clockwork Orange, South Park--Bigger, Longer & Uncut, Indiana Jones trilogy, LOTR trilogy, Goodfellas, Snatch, Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels, American Psycho, The Longest Day, Cube, any Monty Python movie, Shaolin Soccer, Bullitt, Dirty Harry, Saving Private Ryan, Platoon, Full Metal Jacket, Dr. Strangelove, The Shining, Trainspotting, Get Carter (Michael Caine version), Terminator, Reservior Dogs, Slap Shot, Highlander, Star Wars IV, V, VI. Worst--BE (see above), Star Trek V, The Underworld (not the vampire vs. werewolves thing, cheezy straight-to-video thing directed by the Battlefield Earth guy), Get Carter (Sly Stallone version), Revolver (Guy Ritchie's lost his edge), Last Road to Brooklyn (my wife's vote), Van Helsing, House of 1000 Corpses (2 hours of my life gone forever), Virus, Alien3, Alien Resurrection, Highlander2, Highlander--Endgame. Guily Pleasures--XXX, Conan movies, The Mummy, They Live (go Rowdy Roddy Piper!), Flesh Gordon.

Mace MacLeod
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068595/ Underground legend when I was in elementary school. Definitely in the so-bad-it's-good category IMHO. Mace MacLeod
I can't believe I forgot one. Battlestar Galactica. It deserves a whole other post. Either in the Best or Guilty Pleasure category, could go either way. Please, NOBODY mention the new series. Will result in a very unhappy, flaming Mace. igyman
I don't know what you people think, but Starship Troopers is also a good SF action movie. On the other hand, an extremely stupid movie would be Tomb Raider (the first part).
Jae Onasi
Best (In no particular order) Star Wars Schindler's List Casablanca Much Ado about Nothing (with Kenneth Branagh, Emma Thompson, and Denzel Washington, among others. The bath scene at the beginning of the movie alone was worth the price of admission. ) The Lion in Winter Adam's Rib On Golden Pond Anything else with Katherine Hepburn Wizard of Oz Chariots of Fire Ghandhi Philadelphia (the movie where I finally was convinced Hanks could do a serious role--gotta remember, I first saw him in the TV show Bosom Buddies) Forrest Gump All the President's Men Rain Man (love Dustin Hoffman in that one) Out of Africa (fabulous cinematography) Memoirs of a Geisha (also has fabulous cinematography) MASH Ben-Hur Dead Poets Society One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest A Few Good Men Silence of the Lambs (Hopkins gave me the chills--what a performance.) Dangerous Liaisons (fabulous acting by Glenn Close) Gladiator Master and Commander A Beautiful Mind The Incredibles Not the "Critically Acclaimed" but some of my favs: Raiders of the Lost Ark 1 and 3 (Short Round in 2 was just beyond annoying) ET Three Men and a Baby (Tom Selleck version) Three Men and a Little Lady My Big Fat Greek Wedding Clear and Present Danger and other Tom Clancy adaptations with Harrison Ford The Fugitive Pretty much anything with Harrison Ford Witness Suspect Braveheart The Firm The Pelican Brief Apollo 13 Seven (Creepy!) The Sixth Sense (also creepy!) Jaws Robin Hood Prince of Thieves Silverado Monty Python and the Holy Grail Princess Bride (love Mandy Patinkin) Ocean's 11 The Bird Cage (Robin Williams and Nathan Lane were hysterical) It's a Wonderful Life The King and I Aladdin Lion King Beauty and the Beast Good Morning Vietnam Good Will Hunting Pretty much anything with Robin Williams Airplane! The Sound of Music Top Gun Most other films with Tom Cruise White Nights (for the dance sequences with Hines and Baryshnikov) Tootsie Analyze This! National Treasure James Bond movies--doesn't matter which Bond, I love them all. Anything with Sean Connery The Rock Broken Arrow Star Trek movies except the first one MST3K's spoof of Cave Dwellers MST3K's spoof of Hercules Unchained Really Bad: Anything else spoofed by MST3K Jaws 3-D Any 3-D movie Elephant Man (it was critically acclaimed, but I was so bored, I left after the first half and went to the lounge area in the women's restroom to read a book while my mother watched the rest of the movie) So bad that it should have had a mercy killing sometime in the first 3 minutes of the film: Red Zone Cuba--not even MST3K could make it funny. Mace MacLeod
More Best--Scarface, Top Secret!, Se7en, Fight Club, Spinal Tap, Hard Core Logo, Rob Roy, Some Kind of Monster, The Last Chapter miniseries, BLADE RUNNER, Analyze This, Taxi Driver, Miller's Crossing, Fargo, Barton Fink, *editing once again...* The Usual Suspects, Sleeper, Love & Death, Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Sex (but were afraid to ask). "It was I who said a clitoral orgasm shouldn't just be for women!" More Worst--Matrix Reloaded & Revolutions, Zoolander, anything with Adam Sandler or Rob Schneider, anything even remotely connected to Tom Green. More Guilty Pleasures--Highway to Hell, The Man with the Golden Arm (Sinatra NOT singing!), Starship Troopers (who are the bad guys here, really?), Dune (so bad it's addictive--featuring Sting in a leather nappy), Shadow of the Vampire, Demolition Man, Death to Smoochy. BTW, did you guys know that David Lynch was originally slated to direct Return of the Jedi? He couldn't because he was busy making Dune at the time. Imagine how different ROTJ would have been...
