Archon II
Hey, I'm posting here... So, I'll start the honors! :Opens 1000 bottles of sparkling cider, fills 10,000 glasses, starts passing them all around to Lucasforums Kotor members: Cheers to everyone! May the next year of modding be as good as this one...
Ztalker
Just posting right after my family has left Had a wonderfull Christmas, with my family and friends, although we don't celebrate Christmas with presents like you guys do (we have Sinterklaas for that ). Also, with my 31-december lot from the lottery, i already have 8 santa's on the lot, with 6 squared yet to go. If i have 10, i'll get 100.000 Euro's!! REDJOHNNYMIKE
*chugs the sparkling cider, looks around, quickly chugs all the cider at the admin table* Tasty It's interesting, we actually had sparkling cider with the turkey today, I didn't drink much though because it was peach flavored X( Just make sure you get some good memory and don't blow it all on bribing moderators:D How do you celebrate it in Holland then? I never actually found out what a euro is worth, is that like go out to dinner money or buy a goldplated toilet seat money?
Ztalker
At the moment, a Euro values 1 Dollar 20, i believe.. Well, we celebrate it on different days As said, on 5 december, we have Sinterklaas, a guy similar to Santa Claus (except his fat ). He also brings presents, and he enters the land with a Steamboat. Also, he uses a horse to climb up the roofs, and has helpers, the so-called Zwarte Pieten (Black Pete's )to help him give all the children presents. About Chistmas then: Holland is a religeous country from its roots, and about 73% of the people here know the true meaning of Christmas: The birth of Jesus Christ. Since many people know this (and most aren't going to Church etc, but just know) they celebrate Christmas with family and friends. Also, the churces are stamped full of people on Christmas day etc, while most of them haven't seen one from the inside. How do i know? Because i'm one of them We just celebrate Christmas with family and friends, eat some huge diner, (not neccicarely in a Christian way) and have some fun. To conclude: What you call Christmas is our Sinterklaas, what you call Thanksgiving, is our Christmas (bad example, but i think you'll get it )
REDJOHNNYMIKE
Sounds pretty much the same as we celebrate it Just with some parts here and some parts there:D Do you mean 1 euro = $20? *does the math* If you win, does everyone on the forum get a Shelby Cobra:D
Ztalker
Well, if compared, you need 1.20 Dollar to buy 1 Euro. It means a Euro is worth 1.20 Dollar, so the Euro is valud higher. It's still below it's starting worth, though: 2,20371 was it meant to be. But enough Economic talk ^^ And a Cobra is worth much, much more then 120.000 Dollar, it think. Chances for the prize are getting slimmer btw. With 4 squares to go, i still need 2 Santa;s ><

The Doctor
In the Pegan celebration that Christmas is based on, the 25 was used to get togrether with family and just be happy, while boxing day was the day that gifts were excahnged. Hence Boxing Day.

Jae Onasi
Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year to everyone! We got together with our extended family on Christmas Eve this year (changes from year to year depending on family schedules) for a big dinner/gift exchange. Usually we go to one of the church services happening, but couldn't make it this year--a pre-schooler and Midnight Mass/service don't go well together. My family stayed home Christmas day, called up family members who live too far away to visit, opened some more gifts and checked out the stockings to see what "Santa" had put in there, and lounged around. I had the pleasure of spending some time with fellow forumites Christmas day while the rest of the family was napping.
