Picked mine up yesterday.. and I'm running on 2 hours of "sleep" today..

Game... Kicks... Ass... period. :devsmoke:

The morphing/manipulating you can do in character creation is amazing, and just from what options they had available (which is alot) I was able to make a character that looked like myself.

Though I chose a totally different looking character to actually play, I was still amazed at how someone could quite possibly make their "self" a PC in the game.. total sweetness :D

The only thing that does kinda 'suck' is that because of the Radiant AI and the persuade mini-game that uses facial features as a visual clue... there are no "full" beards. Kinda makes Nords look like they have shaved recently.. hehehe.. but that is a minor measly thing soon forgotten once you start playing ;) (5 o'clock shadow, gruffy facial hair etc.. is still available however)

Havoc physics will take gaming to the next level after seeing how it is incorporated into Oblivion. Reverb, repurcussion, death animations are superb.. and particularly sweet when you make a 'kill' and watch the corpse suddenly start rolling down an incline, triggereing a trap that offs 2 more goblins you hadn't noticed before (total fluke on my part)..

Then going to the corpse, picking it up or brushing it aside because it was laying on some loot..

If you can upgrade your computer without bankrupting yourself, I highly suggest this game.. I'd give it a solid 9 out of 10 "as is" and probably about a 9.7 out of 10 once I start modding it ;)

When I got into the "Sigil" towers of Oblivion the first time, I wondered how this game got a T, looked somewhat like an M game to me. Bodies, blood, blood fountains (you'll be happy to see one of these, actually). The graphics are great, the fighting is pretty good but my character is still only level 2 so he can't kill much more than Scamps and rats.

Also, anyone who's played Morrowind has probably been scared many times, even though this game isn't supposed to be scary and at most creepy. It's pretty easy to get freaked out when... It's dark and you just killed that Dremora's little summoned scamp buddy, he's on the ground and dead as a fish, but his summoner is still around so you swing into the shadows of where you first saw him, but instead of flesh you hit stone walls, so you back up, look around, and then get totally smacked on the back of the head *shock* then you proceed to slash and flame his ass.

Great fun so far, if it was the weekend, I would have played it through the night. Also, in one of the Sigil towers I got into a fight with a Dremora guy with a crazy mace and smacked him right onto the railing, half off- half on. So I check him, for anything good and take his heart out (yum) and then grab his feet and push him over. :D

So, I've heard the Scrolls series is all good and all, so is Morrowind worth getting? I mean, I wanna play Oblivion, but don't wanna feel all left out of the story. I've also heard Morrowind ahs some expansion packs, worth getting?

The story is completely different from Morrowind, so you won't feel left out. :)

PC, XBox, and PS2 versions are in store today. XBox360 versions will be in on 4th of July weekend.

Yeah, I picked it up from work. Last XBOX copy. Usually I hate the Blockbuster 'end of late fees' policy, but since I paid the stupid $8 rental fee, I'm keeping this badboy out for a month until I'm don of NYC :p

And back on topic, as said, all the Elder Scrolls games don't relate to eachother. They just take place on the same planet or possibly the same continent. If you had to play all the previous games, you'd obviously wanna grab the Elder Scrolls 1 (it's free nowadays off the official website) and the Elder Scrolls 2 (which has the biggest land area to explore).

arrggggghhhh... I'm getting my copy tomorrow, I can't wait! I was an avid morrowind player (and still am) and have been waiting for this for YEARS.

Unfortunately, I have 3 or 4 tests on Friday, as well as piano lessons :/

What this means, is I'll probably get the game, install it, and bask in the glory of the main menu for about 20 seconds. before going back to studying :D

If you do get Morrowind, buy the Game of the Year edition(GotY). It includes both the expansions, and the latest patch. GotY is especially nice for PC version, as it adds a section to your journal which allows you to look at each quest. Much better than searching 100+ journal pages to find the objective for a quest.

I tried out Elder Scrolls: Arena. It's seems good, but it's running very slow. i increased the frameskip and CPU cycles, which makes it run faster, but glitchier. It can get a tad irritating, but I suppose it's worth it.
Did you use DOSbox or something if you're running XP? I played it on a win98 machine perfectly fine; it's a great game. The goblin things in the dungeon were pretty freaky. :D

Yeah, dosbox has a speed problem on XP.

I found out something extremely interesting thismorning thanks to Tokarev.

My CPU actually can handle oblivion o.o

I'm shopping for graphics cards right now, nothing too fancy, just one that will run the game will work for me, I don't care about the uber high settings, since my cpu wouldn't be able to handle them anyway. I'm thinking about getting a GeForce FX5200. I misplaced the link, but I'll find it again. That, and a 512mb stick of ram, and I'm good to go

The awsome thing is, I actually have the money for it.

EDIT: Does anybody have any reccomendations? I really only have about 70-75 bucks to spend on a graphics card.

i didnt think it was on orig xbox, or ps2.

We were talking Godfather there, not Oblivion. Oblivion is only for the PC and X360. Maybe I can update my video card (again) so I can get Oblivion sooner than later. I'm pretty sure my PC can handle it then. It's pretty fast. I just have the packaged video card at the moment.

I really didn't like Morrowind on xbox, and I prefer the pc's hotkeys for it. Plus, I know that after I upgrade the computer, even though it will run it, it won't run great, but it will run, and that's what counts. Plus, my mom and grandma are planning to get a new computer pretty soon, it's been 3 years now. Time to get a whole new PC.

It's awesome. Getting out of the opening sewers and seeing the full blown forests of Tamriel is just amazing. The combat I like better than Morrowind- tad bit more dynamic. Also, the fact that everything doesn't rely solely on character skills is nice; I've gone into a dungeon that had quite a few traps. The nice thing, though, is that I was able to lure creatures out from the dungeon and into the traps- right in character for being a rogue.

If your actually playing the storyline, about an hour and a half in you enter the plains of oblivion. It blew me a way the first time. The sky is bright red and the land is engulfed in flames. I wish i had a better video card so I would be able to gain the full experience.

Having never followed the elder scrolls storyline in any form, it's pretty cool. I created a Dark Elf and created my own Spartan class - a warrior mage kinda thing going on.

I love my Legion armor, and the helmet rocks. So far it's been fun, but it's really pissing me off when gaurds confront me for killing people when there was no one around to witness it. Hell, I killed this guy in the middle of the forest and I still get in trouble.

I'd give it a 4.5/5

Right now this Mages Guild quest is pissing phreak off.

It's Falcar's Ring of Burden quest.

I did some searching online, the ring isn't in the well, but when you exit, there's supposed to be the ghost of the previous guy. Unfortunately, no matter how many times I've tried, the ghost never appears.

That's not what I found. I found the ring on the body.
