How does it know!!!

He guessed wrong for mine.

1933 minus 1393 and then I circled the 5. He said I circled seven.

You must've done something wrong yourself. 1933 - 1393 = 540

If you type down 40 or 04 he guesses 5 every time.

But anyways, this is one of the best math tricks i've seen. I'd like to know how it's done. :)

Ha! It was wrong!

Kay, my first number was 4323, second was 2324. After the subtraction it was 1999, so I took out the one and it said I picked a nine. :p

I still don't know how it's right the other times... >.>

That's cause the first number has one 4, two 3s and one 2, and the second number has one 4, one 3, and two 2s.

Do it right! :p

I agree,

I have seen stuff similar to it but still have not figured out the multi-variable equation that it uses, it is possible it might use a system of equations?

It's just a math trick. I've seen it before, but he probably has a preprogrammed code and a database. He also looks for key numbers and deduces the answer. But WTH, It's all in the code!

I've got a better trick though it doesn't work 100% of the time but it works a lot. It's where I have a person think of a card out of a standard 52 card deck then I guess which one it is. I've noticed that a lot of people pick one of two cards most often. Anybody want to try me?

Okay, test me.

Uhhh.....

You most likely did it wrong. I think the point is that is a flawless system. If you follow the instructions right, then no matter what number you pick, it'll always narrow it down to one possible number.

I think I understand how it works:

The result of subtracting the two numbers is always a multiple of 9. In any multiple of 9, the digits always add up to 9 or a multiple of 9. The program in the game adds what numbers you give it, then finds how much further the next multiple of 9 is. Example: 4693-3496=1197. circle the 1, leaving 197. You scramble it and type in 971. The program takes the digits and adds them together: 9+7+1=17. Since that is one lower than 18(2*9=18), the program knows the number you circled is 1(17+1=18).

Anyone like to test my guess?

You are right narfblat

Let's say you choose digits w, x, y, and z.

Let's say your first number is 1000w+100x+10y+z.

The value of w of the second number will either be 1000w, 100w, 10w, or w.

If it is 1000w it will be eliminated in the subtraction.

If it is anything else, the subtraction will be a multiple of 9: 900w, 990w or 999w.

Likewise for x, y, and z.

So our resulting subtraction is the following:

[ (0|900|990|999)w + (900|0|90|99)x + (990|90|0|9)y + (999|99|9|0)z ]

From which you can factor 9.

I think you explained the rest perfectly.

Ok, think of a card but don't tell me what it is.

I think it would be better if a lot of you wanted to play. It could make it more fun. If I get it wrong there will be more of you to make fun of me. If I get it right there will be more of you I can impress. :)

Thought of one yesterday and I still remember it.

So hurry up! :p

<_<

>_>

I knew that! No really, I knew it has something to do with the table of 9, but was too lazy.

Ok my trick is really REALLY stupid and lame and I'll most likely get it wrong.

I'll put my guess in spoiler tags:

My guess for the card(s) for what you people are thinking of has been narrowed down to tree possible cards that are 7 or Ace of spades or the Queen of diamonds.

This trick has worked on several people I've tried it on but it's still not 100%. If I got it wrong then I'm sorry for waisting your time on something so stupid.

Mine was 6 of clubs. :p

Eh, I strive to be novel anyways.
