Smon
Americans are lazy. We've almost completely phased out the letter U because a 25 letter alphabet is easier to remember. We're that lazy.
Samnmax221
That has alittle something to do with cultural differences between the UK and the US, why you nit-pick spelling and not my passive agressive additude is beyond me.
Joshi
A passive agressive attitude is all down to opinion, spelling is pretty definite. As a moderator, I'm safe (I'm a nit picking spelling jerk... but I'm safe)

Fealiks
American spelling and pronuctuation sometimes makes more sense than ours, for instance, "can't", correct me if I'm wrong, should have an R in it for us Britons. But that is very rare. Usually American spelling sucks.
Joshi
When has can't ever had an R in it? "Can't" is an abbreiviation of "cannot" or "can" and "not". The abbreiviation works simply by taking the "can" adding a "`" and then the T at the end. R was never in there.
Thrik
Erm, nope Fealiks? I'm not sure where you picked that up. And yes Joshi, the Americans do spell it as "check". There's literally hundreds of minor differences between the two languages other than the more commonly known "colour" type ones, so it's best to exert caution when correcting an American's spelling. Vice versa, too.
