Luke.Skywalker
I have recently encountered some thing strange. This started last year on a trip home at night. I have been seeing, what I now know is, Shadow People. Just about 2 weeks ago I was some what plagued by several reoccurences in one night. I have, since then, been able to fight them off. I was wondering if any one has had this problem them selves? If so, please share your experiences and thoughts. I'm still wondering what they really are and what causes them. FYI: I am not, nor have I ever been on drugs. Just for the record.
milo
How exactly do you "fight off" shadow people? A 1000 watt flashlight?
Det. Bart Lasiter
How exactly do you "fight off" shadow people? A 1000 watt flashlight? Geezus milo, whats-his-face comes here with a legit problem and you say some **** like that. Anywho, I'd suggest 50 mg of chlorpromazine at bedtime. Luke.Skywalker
How exactly do you "fight off" shadow people? A 1000 watt flashlight? It's not easy, you just have to ignore any signs, untill you don't see them any more. Anywho, I'd suggest 50 mg of chlorpromazine at bedtime. I do not believe in medication, and I am not psychotic. I just have a problem that I can not explain. Maybe it is stress. I don't know.
St. Jimmy
Yeah, I kinda had that a few times. Not hardcore intense stuff like them attacking me but I did see them. Probably just shadows or something when I'm a bit edgey. I'm pretty sure all it is is just shadows but it's frikkin' frightening at first. I only ever get it real rarely though, so i don't worry about it.
Q
Have there been any significant occurences in your life lately? Anything that might have influenced your mood or outlook on life at all, even in a seemingly insignificant manner? Have you been getting enough sleep lately? Simple fatigue can do weird things to the mind. Any change in diet? Too much caffiene? And last but not least: Could you have been around someone who could have slipped something in your drink without your knowledge? Stranger things have happened, you know. You should exhaust any and every possibility before worrying that it might be genuine hallucinations.
Emperor Devon
You, my friend, are in need of a trip to Hotel Asylum. I'll ask the Head Fruitcake to get you a room.
Sabretooth
I've had this thing twice. They were like some lizard-like bugs, about five inches large, maybe. They were running up the wall to my left and when I look at it, its gone! That happened about a year or so ago. Nothing since. In my opinion, it happens when you don't get enough sleep. Go take a few more hours in bed, my advice.
lukeiamyourdad
As a soon-to-be scientist, I enjoy the "Non-paranormal explanations" section of that wikipedia article... Especially "Pareidolia" as this seem to have happened to me quite often while sitting right here in front of my computer. My left eye would spot something in the hallway for a tenth of a second. Of course, there's nothing when I get off my chair to check it out. No ghost plagues my house.

Besides working at a hotel on 3rd shift for over 2 years, my parents are going through a divorice. So maybe it is just stress.
St. Jimmy
Yeah, it's REAL quick. So fast in fact, that afterwards I often end up wondering wether or not I actually saw it. I normally see people and it's normally at night. But it's not always late at night so I don't think it's me being tired. I don't think it has anything to do with supernatural powers, it's just... wierd.

So maybe it is just stress.Unless that hotel is perched on the side of a mountain, has a big hedge labyrinth out back and gets snowed in every winter (sorry man, I just couldn't resist ), I doubt that you're experiencing the paranormal. Sorry to hear about your parents. That sucks. And you're right; it's probably stress, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Is the old caretaker trying to convince you to kill your family, too? Do you feel the urge to type "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy" over and over? FYI: I am not, nor have I ever been on drugs. Just for the record. Maybe they may be beings of another universe or demons. A universe that comes into phase with ours once every blue moon. If you don't understand what I mean, the vibrational frequency of our universe spacial dimensions have match the possible other universe virbrating dimensions. I have seen shadows before that look like human figures. but it never attack me. You, my friend, are in need of a trip to Hotel Asylum. I'll ask the Head Fruitcake to get you a room. St. Jimmy
Well I saw a figure for at least a good 3 seconds through a mirror. Woah! nah, I haven't had that before. Mine are only ever real quick. Windu6, I don't think ED actually meant that L.S is really a skitz.

Stop forming conclusions when you know nothing of his experiences, Devon. If we aren't meant to form conclusions then why did he the author compose a thread then if we are not to post comments. Besides that, ghosts and shadow men must be some american thing because in my life i have never seen a shred of evidence that either exist.(and don't give me the "Just because you hav'nt seen them does'nt mean they're not there" speech) BUT, as i am open minded, i have a 5 million candlepower torch besides my bed so the bar stewards aint comin near me. I think if i did see them though id think of the light side and goodness, does'nt that scare them away?
Ztalker
Maybe they may be beings of another universe or demons. I was starting to wonder when the 'paralel universe' theory would be added in the discussion...creepy stuff... @Topic/ Luke.Skywalker: When In times of stress (my grandma recently died, for example) I experience some...shadow things too. When it's semi-dark, it just seems there are some 'darker' spots moving from behind me. After I settled down a bit (vacation came in niceley) it stopped for me. In my case, I think I 'thought' about death (my grandma) at the back of my head, which made my perceptions this strange. I was really creeped out by it, and there were times I couldn't even sleep. I really concidered staying at my girlfriends place, when it suddenly stopped (because of the vacation, I think). Maybe a short vacation or something like that could help you. Or, if it get's worse, you could try and sleep at a friends (girldfirends?) place. It could make you feel a bit more safe, knowing you are not alone, and you'd be away from the 'problems' and stress for a while. Judging by the replies, you are not the only one. I find it quit brave to start a thread on this, and good luck getting rid of them
Negative Sun
Not trying to be funny here, but maybe you're a bit paranoid as well? I sometimes get strong feelings that someone is following/watching me, and I sometimes think I can see stuff in the corner of my eye, but then it disappears... Maybe that's because I work this graveyard shift by my self. I remember when I first start at the hotel, I had expected to see 2 twin girls standing at the other end of the hall...LOL! Vaelastraz
This is all in your mind. So a solution would be willpower I guess. Just be aware of the fact that it is not real and believe that. Poor advince yes, but I have never suffered from that myself.

He's right, i'm sorry but it isn't real, its in your head IMO. Most likely its just stress. You need to get another job and find something to relieve stress in your life like sport or a hobby. The mind can play really weird tricks on us whe we're stressed out.
stoffe
I experience something similar on occasion in the evening or during the night when I'm tired. But I don't see people, I see shadows reminding me of black hunting spiders running across the wall at the periphery of my field of vision, which of course aren't there when I look closer. I always figured it was my arachnophobia playing tricks on me when I'm a bit tired.
