jon_hill987 Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 http://internationalreporter.com/news/read.php?id=2524 containing more than a billion solar masses Some might say that is big... The power required ... exceeded the power output of the Sun by nearly ten trillion times in the past 100 million years That could light a few homes. So, black holes... I think we are all doomed. eventually. I mean one that big isn't going to evaporate any time soon. So I reckon the whole universe will get sucked into one of them.
Black Knight of Keno Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Not in out lifetime. I would think that because of the slow pace the universe in the end is sucked into the black holes, we would be quite scorched way before our clash with one of those unless it would just pop up right next to us
TSR Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 In which the likelihood happening is incredibly low...
tk102 Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 What a cool way to go though -- death by black hole.
jon_hill987 Posted November 9, 2006 Author Posted November 9, 2006 When I said all doomed, I didn't really mean us. I meant the universe in general. And obviously not in out lifetime.
TSR Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 does this black hole have....UUUUNNNLLIIMITEDDD POWAAAAAA!?!?!?!?!
Commander Obi-Wan Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 does this black hole have....UUUUNNNLLIIMITEDDD POWAAAAAA!?!?!?!?! I wouldn't doubt it.
jon_hill987 Posted November 9, 2006 Author Posted November 9, 2006 does this black hole have....UUUUNNNLLIIMITEDDD POWAAAAAA!?!?!?!?! Enough power to dial a Stargate from another galaxy and maintain that connection indefinitely! *runs*
Windu Chi Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Enough power to dial a Stargate from another galaxy and maintain that connection indefinitely! *runs* Enough power to dial a Stargate to all the galaxies in the visible universe. Or another universe maybe. Hmm!
jon_hill987 Posted November 9, 2006 Author Posted November 9, 2006 Or another universe maybe. That wouldn't be a good idea, You might find you have an evil counterpart in that parallel universe. That would be a cliché, and you know how I feel about those... must... stop... with the... SG-1... Jokes...
Rogue15 Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 the sun will have gone supernova by then right so who cares.
Emperor Devon Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Huh, some supernovas form black holes. Think how large that explosion could've been. Gawd, getting sucked into this seems depressing.
TSR Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Hell, we're all going to die a horrible death. What with a higher chance of dying of cancer than senieroity (w/e), then death by black hole sounds exciting and sounds really wrong...
jon_hill987 Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 Huh, some supernovas form black holes. Think how large that explosion could've been. The explosion may not have been that big, just a long time ago, it could have sucked an entire galaxy of stars in since then. Maybe in billions of years the one in the centre of our galaxy may be that big. Gawd, getting sucked into this seems depressing. That reminds me of the science screen-saver I used to have.
TSR Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 this seems depressing. Well, thats just ruined my day...
IG-64 Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 this seems depressing.Well, thats just ruined my day... zOMG supermassive Photoshop effect!

Sabretooth Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 Gawd, getting sucked into this seems depressing. Getting sucked into a very bad photoshopped image hosted by Wikimedia? Yes, very depressing indeed.

TiE23 Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I just looked that up on Google as I had never heard of that before. Congratulations, you made me want to kill my self so I don't have to see that any more. Owned : )
Samuel Dravis Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I am so glad I read /. and knew what edlib's post was referring to without actually having to ever see it.
BongoBob Posted November 10, 2006 Posted November 10, 2006 I think we all remember the traumatic first time we unfortunately saw goatse. *shudders* Even with all the sick twisted s*** I've seen on 4/7chan, goatse still gives me nightmares ;_;
