Wookiepedia is your friend. :)

And no, no Tonfa.

Beat me to it, but wow never expact wookiepedia to have that.

Oh, btw the chick wielding it is not a jedi/sith.

Well, it "could" have been cool, but not like the one you see in the link.

What they should have done is to provide a side guard for the tonfa-saber at the place where the tonfa should be touching the arm. Another nice idea would be adding a blaster and/or cortosis blade on the other side...

Yes, lets use a light saber shaped like a tonfa, because what we need is to have a short laser sword braced against your fore arm, with a longer blade at the other end.

"Now i shall use my 1337 tonfa saber, oops, i just cut my arm down the middle."

Not to be mean, but come on, i think the creators of the tonfa saber idea to suck on the ends of a double edged light saber.

Do we really need another lightsaber-related weapon?

Seems to me that the lightsaber is supposed to be an exotic weapon and having a ton of variants makes it much less so.

That reminds of some of those horrible lightsaber variants I had seen in an online SW roleplay area. They had this huge database of SW information, which was pretty comprehensive, but half of it was made up. Some examples would include,

1. The Light-axe

2. The Light-reaper

3. Lightsaber Trooper (the people invented this class after the concept image of a stormtrooper wielding a lightsaber)

There actually were some Force-sensitive stormtroopers (with lightsabers) at one point in the EU. But they were part of a conspiracy to overthrow Palpatine, and Vader killed them all.

I don't like the idea of that myself. Single-bladed lightsabers are cool enough weapons. I'd actually like to see them be the main weapon Jedi and Sith use, with maybe a couple NPCs who use a double-bladed or dual ones. :)

OK mixed reactions. That's what I expected.

BTW nice to meet you all. Didn't think this many would even acknowledge a newbie!

I have a somewhat competitive/crotchity personality; I don't mean to offend or insult anybody but it happens. I can be a bit abrasive--but I try to make jests as well. If you can't stand the heat of that, get outta the kitchen.

That's as politically correct as I care to get. If you still have a problem, well, fine. IGNORE the posts and don't clutter the bandwidth for everyone else.

Now onto biz.

"I don't quite see how a Tonfa-style hilt would be possible, as far as lightsaber physics are concerned. Besides, it would be very difficult to wield, considering the volatile nature of a lightsaber's blade. But it is very creative concept, nevertheless."

Hey sabertooth,

Just really a simple single sided saber if a bit bigger and longer (with some addt'l craftsmanship) and an emitter that you could simply un lock and unscrew the extra handle from. So it'll work as any regular saber should as well. No messing with the internal physics of the saber--I think we all have had our fair share of debates over this subject alone. Besides, if the saber gets screwed up but you still have the handle, it'd be nice to give a baton style beaing to your foe up-close and personal--do carry another saber if you're fighting another jedi or sith. Then, hell, don't kill them right off...Interrogate them. :) :) :)

I can definitely see where you're coming from as far as hard to weild. Having sparred with them in real life--like I do with these and several other melee wepons out in the woods with my pals every saturday at noon-- These would take some getting used to.

No offense taken. Yes it would suck as a double bladed saber. Meant to be a one sided saber affair. Long or short blade. And to the OUTSIDE of the arm. Though don't KEEP weilding it like that--christ only an idiot would; do as a true martial artist would; study several styles, incorporate them together for what works for you, and change up several times during the fight to throw off the enemy--then kill them with no mercy or interrogate then and then kill 'em.

Of course use it like a regular saber as needed.

Does that clear that up? BTW I'm not the first to think of it I'm sure--and probably won't be the last. Doesn't anybody know of Strider Hiru or are we a bunch of holy-rollin'-high-and-mighty-SW-puritan religious fanatics? :)

Strider's blade would make an interesting vibroblade too. As for a saber--well, I thought being able to sense it with the force was a pre-requisite to even weild it. I'm sure It could be done with the right being.

Lightsaber gun? Oh man-don't remind me of some character from an SWRP I once played.

Hey, Smart guy. :) Sheilding and cortosis a must.

Holy %^&*--I forgot about that one comic--thanks!

I was thinking a little more elongated of a handle than those.

Welcome to the forums, GTA. Just a tip: you coulda used the "quote" function. It was very hard to read. And it's really not necessary to announce yourself as abrasive and competitive; every LFer has their say as long as things are being discussed in a respectful manner.

And no, if a new lightsaber form is to be introduced, I'd prefer one like Dooku's instead of this rather exotic (really exotic) one only seen in the comics.

And it's really not necessary to add another lightsaber form; for me, regular and short single-hilts and double-blades are pretty much. I'd rather they introduce more variants within these original forms, like different looks of hilt.

Hello, GTA! Nice to see a newbie who doesn't bitch over criticism. :)

Well, I didn't know such things existed in the EU, so I imagined it like a loose plasma blade joint perpendicularly to a handle. :p

The point is, that the lightsaber's blade is far more unforgiving than wood or metal tonfas. A small mistake and you'll find your hand chopped off. Now I know that the galaxy is in absolutely no shortage of quality prosthetics, but spending money to buy a prosthetic arm after every third battle will definitely sap the money pool :p

While this is innovative, the standard lightsaber beats it hands down.
