"I was married once..." Takara answered him after a tenuous silence. Xan nodded, but decided by her reaction to let it lie.

"With how familiar he is to you, I doubt the pup just came to you in the night. How long has he been with you?" Xan looked over at Akkan, who was sitting next to his foot staring at the two with his head tilted to the side.

Xan swollowed some oatmeal, "a year at least. He's not full grown, but that's as big as he'll get," Xan stated. Xan saw Akkan look suddenly in the direction of the caravan. Xan looked towards the caravan, then heard a barely audible whistle in the distance coming from the caravan, though he could hear it better than most.

Xan scarfed his food, then grabbing his head cloth, he wrapped it around his head, and tied it off. Xan turned back to Takara, "come, the caravan's moving, don't want your newfound friends running off without you, do you?"

Xan scooped Akkan up, tossing him deftly into the old rucsac, the dog poking his head out, but Xan stared down and whispered an unaudible word to the dog, and with that Akkan dissapeared within the bag.

Xan looked over at Takara and said, "come, let's go," at this he turned and started walking towards the caravan.

As the carvan started to move, Aya grabbed up Bob's lead in her hand. She was glad to get going. Unfortunately, Bob wasn't.

"C'mon, Bob." She clucked to him and gave a gentle tug on his lead.

Bob snorted at her, but stayed put.

Aya rolled her eyes and tutted with frustration. "No," she said to the pony. "I'm not doing it. Not in front of all these people. Now, c'mon."

She tugged on his lead, but Bob tossed his head and shook his shaggy brown mane.

"No," she said to him adamantly. "Not today. Now, c'mon!"

But Bob wasn't giving any ground, and stubbornly remained where he was.

She glanced over her shoulder. "Bob," she hissed in a hushed tone, "you're embarrassing me!"

Bob snorted as if he didn't care, and to prove his point, he pawed at the ground with his hoof, then stamped the ground.

Aya sighed and hung her head. "Oh, all right!" she said with exasperation.

She looked around. At least most of the other traders were out of earshot. She cleared her throat and began to sing in a quiet voice.

"There was an old woman, who swallowed a fly,

I don't know why, she swallowed a fly.

Perhaps she'll die.

"There was an old woman, who swallowed a spider,

That wiggled and jiggled and tickled inside her,

She swallowed the spider to catch the fly,

But I don't know why she swallowed the fly.

Perhaps she'll die."

With Aya now singing, Bob decided that he'd start moving now. As they walked along at the end of the caravan, Aya's song continued with the poor unfortunate old lady swallowing the subsequent bird, cat, dog, goat, and a cow. And then came the final verse.

"There was an old woman, who swallowed a horse...." Aya paused. "She's dead of course."

Bob snorted and let out a low, soft whinny, and if Aya didn't know better, she could have sworn that he was laughing.

Aya snorted with amusement and shook her head. "Horse humor," she said under her breath.

Carwyn trotted along behind the caravan cheerily, happy that they were finally going somewhere. As he moved, the locket banged on his breastbone. "Bloody thing," Carwyn muttered as he moved it outside of his tunic again.

A little further up, Aya was seemingly talking to her horse, Bob. They had an interesting relationship, and it didn't suprise Carwyn that the young merchant treated her pony just like another person, as Bob seemed to respond in kind, despite his equine appearance.

The ranger's ears perked up as he caught the tail end of what Aya was saying to Bob, because it sounded much like a song. "who swallowed a horse...." Aya sang. "She's dead of course."

Carwyn raised an eyebrow. Quickening his pace, he caught up with the pair, careful to pace a bit away from the pony's hooves. "What's this about swallowing horses?" he asked curiously.

It took every ounce of self control that Toa had to keep from bursting out into laughter at the song and at the pony's stubbornness. He kept it in though because he did not want to embarrass her. This is about the time that his Uncle Jed would have jumped in and teased the hell out of her. If she thought Carwyn was a good teaser, then she hadn't seen anything yet. His sister Kar also was very good at it, but wasn't good enough to outdo his uncle. Toa hung to the back so he would be the last one in the lcaravan. If there was one thing he did not like, that was water and they were heading towards a sea of it.

Hoshiko walked, leading Ciaran as they stepped along the road. Left foot, right foot. Left foot, right foot. Xan had a dog? Well, that was somewhat surprising. She watched Toa as he drifted slowly towards the back of the caravan, and dropped back herself.

"Having second thoughts?" she asked mischievously. "Those volcanic smores you made were delicious, by the way."

Kyo ran up to Irithoi, whispering something to him quickly.

"That ain't somethin' we want 'em all te see, now is it?" the caravan head murmured. "Right. Let's take a bit o' a detour."

The caravan shifted direction slightly, leading them far enough from the underbrush pile for the bodies to go unnoticed. Kyo slipped to the back of the group, already slipping flint out of his pack.

In moments, he had already wetted the carcasses of the bandits with oil that he had saved for nights in which a fire was a bit of an impossiblity. He struck flint on tinder, and suddenly the pile was alight. He made one last check to be sure that it would be safe alone, and darted back to the caravan.

((I know that it's supposed to be freaky, DV, but it's not really freaky...it's just kinda...weird <.< And might be weird in the RP overall.))

Toa put on a wide grin for Hoshiko and said "Thank you. That was actually the third time I made them. The first time was a disaster, since it just created a fountain of super-heated, melted marshmallows. The second was worse, and this third one had the chance of spontaneously bringing down a meteor on us." Then his grin weakened a little and said "I'm not fond of water at all, but as long as the boat doesn't shake too much, I'll be fine. Is this your first time through here or have you been here before?"

"What's this about swallowing horses?" Carwyn asked curiously.

"Oh... you heard that, did you?" Aya said slowly. Her cheeks grew red with embarrassment. "It's just a silly song that Bob seems to like for some reason. Of all the ponies in the world, I get one that has a weird sense of humour."

Bob suddenly lifted and tossed his head, as if detecting something, then snorted loudly.

"Well, you do," Aya said to him.

Bob then let out a high pitched whinney, and looked to the left and behind them. Aya frowned a bit, turning her head to follow Bob's gaze. "What's the ma.... Oh!" She saw smoke rising slightly to the east of where they had camped. "Look," she said to Carwyn, as she pointed to the area. "Think someone forgot to put out their campfire?"

Assuming his mother had gone to the guard again, Katsuro hefted her pack as well as he could, carrying it until he saw his mother approaching the now moving caravan with Xan. Almost at the same time, she saw him and called for him. He made his way over and gave her the pack. Briefly, she lifted her cloak well over her head, just long enough to strap the pack over her shoulders. Then, she settled the cloak in place, this time with a slight bump at the back.

"Moving out," she said to her son.

"Singing too?" the boy asked hopefully. Takara shook her head.

"Not this time," she answered. Seeming a little disappointed, the boy ran on ahead. Smiling faintly as she watched him, Takara drew her cloak tightly around her.

((And I keep forgetting to make an OOC note: I changed Takara's sword. It's a katana now, instead of a rapier... thought it fit the setting a bit better ;) ))

Carwyn looked back to where Aya was pointing. There was indeed a plume of smoke rising from where the campsite was. Just then, he noticed a cloaked figure dart back into the caravan. Recognizing Kyo's dark clothing and exactly what he'd done, Carwyn thought quickly.

"Perhaps," he replied. "But we built them away from the trees and bushes, so it will probably go out on its own sooner or later." He sorely didn't want Aya to head back there and see Kyo's handiwork.

Just then the swordsman trotted up behind them. "It's fine. It'll burn out on its own," he said.

Searching for a topic change, lest the merchant get curious, he looked ahead and spotted something that made him smile. Reaching down, he plucked an arrow that was embedded in the grass. Around its wooden shaft was an apple. He pulled it off slowly and carefully, then held it in front of Aya. "D'you think Bob might like a snack?"

Aya grinned. "Sure," she said, as the pony was already sniffing in Carwyn's direction, obviously reckoning that the scent of apple was more important than the scent of distant smoke. "But you give it to him," she said. "He'll be your friend for life. And won't step on your toes again," she added.

Carwyn sidled over to the pony, placing a hand on the animal's soft, shaggy mane. Bob whickered as the ranger offered him the apple, then took the fruit into his mouth with one sloppy lick that left Carwyn's hand damp with horse saliva. The ranger laughed and patted Bob as the horse munched on the apple happily while wiping his other hand on the side of his pants.

"Hey, I think he likes me now," Carwyn said. He peered up ahead as they we walked. "If you'd like, there should be two more arrows a little further up ahead that you can retrieve for me," he told Aya. "If my archery is any good, there should be apples on them too."

"No, I've never been this way before," Hoshiko replied to Toa. "So you don't like water? Well, I suppose, given your profession, that's not too surprising." Hoshiko didn't mind water, it was good to drink anyway, and she liked thunderstorms, but she wasn't looking forward to the boat trip either.

Aya gazed at Carwyn in utter amazement. "You were actually aiming at the apples? I just thought you were...." Her brown eyes widened and she shook her head with amused disbelief. "You must have the eyes of a Rock Eagle!" she complimented him.

"Oh, it's not all the eyes, Aya," Carwyn replied. "Your bowstring proved to be of excellent quality. And I never waste arrows if I can help it," he told her. "Always gotta be aiming at something. That's half the battle." He slowed a bit as he came upon the second arrow, this one stuck in the ground at a more acute angle than the first one had been. It also had an apple on its shaft. Pulling it off carefully, he held out the apple to Aya, his eyes twinkling. "Hitting whatever you're aiming at is the other half."

Xan smiled under the cloth at the boy's departure from his mother. He turned his attention to Takara, his smile fading into a frown.

"You've raised him well so far," he complimented. "What I want to know, is why you hide yourself in that cloak so much? I know you have weapons, and I know you don't dress according to most women's fashion. And the only thing your doing by purposefully hiding in your cloak so much, is drawing attention," he stated.

"I say the best way to hide something, is in plain sight," he added with a light laugh. "But really, why do you keep that cloak around you so much?" He asked quietly.

Takara glanced over at the guard with a wry grin and answered, "It reminds me of my father... he gave it to me when Katsuro was three years old. And as for drawing attention, most casual observers would merely think I was cold... especially since I did not begin the journey with the cloak... I only put it on last night."

She paused thoughtfully for a moment before shaking her head. "Drawing it to conceal my weapons is a habit I picked up... oh, was it two years ago?"

"Three!" Katsuro interjected, coming alongside them again. Takara smiled.

"Ah, right," she agreed. "For a period of three months, I..."

"We had quite the adventure," Katsuro interrupted. "I had to hide my slingshot in my boot and my knife on my back."

"We traveled on a ship that had a strict no-weapons policy," Takara explained. "Katsuro's are significantly easier to hide than mine." She drew open her cloak and tapped the hilt of her sword. "I had to seal the sword in a waterproof container and fasten it just below the waterline of the ship after dark. The knife, I kept with me, but I continually left the cloak closed."

"Everyone just thought she was very cold!" Katsuro proclaimed gleefully. Takara laughed.

"Many of them even offered extra blankets," she agreed, giggling slightly. "By the end of the voyage, I slept beneath six thick blankets and wrapped myself in two blankets and my cloak by day. None of them were ever informed of my true reasons... and my sword remained effectively hidden until I retrieved it at port, much to the fright and anger of the captain."

Bora Cho wandered around the caravan . He suddenly stopped as this new face catched his eyes .

This man he hadn't seen before , just like Xan he was in armour , but this armor was grimly decorated with skulls .

But Bora CHo was not the kind of man to judge people on their looks .

So he walked at the newling .

" Hello there , haven't seen you around , whats your name and who are those lucky smiling companions on your chest . " : said Bora CHo while pointing on the skulls .

((OOC: Edited bio, and stuff, fixed posts. He doesn't have a double personality but can get into a uncontrolled frenzy))

Istergard turned around when he heard someone talking to him

" Hello there , haven't seen you around , whats your name and who are those lucky smiling companions on your chest . "

He looked at the monk who seemed in a good-mood and replied.

"I'm Istergard Stormrage, and these are mostly paladin's skulls but there are 2 wolf ones and a bear skull. And who might you be?"

"Sorry I don't drink alcohol. Go ahead if you want to." he said, turning down Bora Cho's offer.

"And no, they aren't my friends..." Istergard said smirking.

"We best keep up with the caravan he said pointing at the leaving caravan and starting to walk in its direction quickly so thye wouldn't be left behind.
