Rogue Nine
Go go human stupidity. Hey, she lost the Wii, but she might win the Darwin!
jon_hill987
I heard that already, sure she was stupid but the radio station were worse, all they needed to do to prevent that was to put some salts in the water. (or not run such a stupid bloody competition)
Commander Obi-Wan
Most definitely should win a Darwin award. I'd be surprised if she doesn't get one.
milo
AHAHAHAHAHAHA! For some reason I imagine the woman looking like my fat ugly programming teacher. Which makes it absolutely hysterical.
BongoBob
I think it's pretty sad, I'm more pissed off at the fact that you can die from water poisoning, but also at the radio station for running such a stupid competition. They couldn't have done a bit of research before doing this?
Lightsaberboy
That's sad. She tried to win it for her kids, and instead, they lost a mother.
BongoBob
That's sad. She tried to win it for her kids, and instead, they lost a mother. My thoughts exactly. This is one stupid death I'm not laughing at, unlike most other ones.
MrWally
I bet that before anything comes of this, our Mr. Thompson will spin it around and blame video games for her death, just to top it off.
Lorden Darkblade
That's sad. She tried to win it for her kids, and instead, they lost a mother. Nothing else to add. I would laugh if it was funny yes but this is a tragedy. She was doing it for the kids, and not herself. The Radio Station should have done a lot more of research before doing something like this. TiE23
I don't really see how this could have been predictable. When someone pitches an idea like that, who the hell is going to say, "Can people die from this?" Yeah, it was a tragedy and stuff, but don't act like the radio people even expected someone to get hurt.
jebbers
I agree with Lightsaberboy. That was my first thought when I read about that woman. She left her house with good intentions and winds-up dead for it. Stupid radio personalities. And after this incident, they might actually have to ask that question TiE. TiE23
The radio hosts didn't expect anyone to die, the most they expected was someone to urinate themselves. You can't call them stupid for not expecting a rare water overdose condition from happening. I don't see it as a preventable accident, but more as a freak/unfortunate accident. It was a simple water drinking contest that took a strange and tragic turn.
Samuel Dravis
I already knew about the water = death trick. It's a favorite of people being hazed by frat boys at colleges, and still no one knew about it? C'mon.
Mike Windu
Yeah... water definitely kills in large amounts. You can't hold your sodium/electrolyte balance. It's why marathoners drink gatorade and not water. Sorry to hear about this though; this could have been prevented. But I'm sure that no one knew about it. Hell, I didn't even know about it till a few years ago, and hydration is important to me as a runner...

Which is of course b*******, if the prize had been a new car would they want them banned?

IG-64
They couldn't have done a bit of research before doing this? Apparently they did. You people are seriously believing this crap? Is there a reason why we shouldn't?
Grey Master
Some people we talking about that incident, and that it would have been avoided if the contestant would have drinked GATORADE instead of water.....and it seems that the radio show will be cancelled and there will be a lawsuit....... Totenkopf
As harsh as it might sound, she should have known better. Whatever happened to personal responsibility? She could have easily looked up the dangers of what she was doing and weighed the cost ahead of time. It is certainly tragically stupid b/c it was completely avoidable.
