Facebook is a crazy time machine...

So I got invited to this Facebook thing. I'd never heard of it before and I don't know if that makes me clueless or not. Anyway, I sign up for this thing and all of a sudden I hear from a ton of people, some of which I haven't talked to since elementary school. Crazy...

Anyone else have a similar experience on there?

Hehe, this shows how young I am when I still see my friends from high school. Hehe, old people...already nostalgic :D
I still see some of them that are where I live now, and I keep in touch with a lot of them, especially guys I played ball with. But this blew my mind. :)

I wouldn't want to talk to anyone I knew in High School...Bunch of bleeps

I second that!

I'm still pretty close with a couple of peeps from uni who have shown themselves to be great friends...but apart from them, my family and my partner, I dont want to be one of those people with 100s of aquaintances...it becomes expensive at birthdays and xmas :p

Without getting too emo, all I can say is you know who your true friends are when circumstances are most difficult for all you... People who ditch you in these times arent true friends, and arent worth spitting on if they were on fire...

Wow, am I the only one here that loved highschool?

I loved High School too. Well, for the most part hehe. If you've lived tough times there, well, welcome to life. I knew everyone, everyone knew who I was. It was a community and it was quite enjoyable. Sure, some deserved my fist in their face but they were few.

I went to a very "cosmopolitan" high school. On one side, you had the leftists and hippies from the Plateau Mont-Royal and on the other, the gangsters of St-Michel (my neighborhood. It isn't as bad as it sounds, but there's a lot of street gangs around). The people from the Plateau came over here to study music, as the school had a great reputation for musical arts. You'd often have a French literature or History class on such famous themes as the Imperial March coming from the basement :D Then, you got the fights between the French-speaking Latinos and the English-speaking Italians. Funny stuff. Seriously though kids, say no to violence. Hey, most of the gangsters were really good folks. They look tough or threatening, but in reality, they're just like everyone else.

Yeah these websites like facebook, faceparty, mingle etc. are pretty surreal, one minute your reminiscing about old school mates that have long been lost to you; the next your getting emails from the very same people you thought you'd never meet again, sure beats "FRIENDSREUNITED.COM"

  • 1 month later...

*bump*

Erm.... yeah. I was invited by a couple of friends to join, too. Though, I am still in high school, but I've found classmates from back in elementary and junior high school. Snazzy. Lotsa people have started to join it recently, as well. I'll probably find this handy later on.

BTW, high school has been kick-ass thus far.

Nah. To be honest, it creeps me out. I'm sceptical enough to upload full names and pictures of yourself as it is, and Facebook... it's just spooky in a sense. The Facebook admins will hold onto your info even after your account is removed, for one thing (probably very usual, but still). So I joined under a false name with no picture, just to be able to see the pages of my friends:rolleyes:;).

PS: I sorely miss High School. It was a good time. A tough time, but a good time:(.

high school is one of those necessary evils of life. Im not referring to the learning element at all. Most of that was quite interesting. Its the weird social dynamics.

I wish I went to one of those alternative high schools where you could take naps :D

So if anyone that is still in high school and is reading this thinking "I freakin hate all the people at my highschool"..... Old Uncle Astro's advice to you.

*Never do anything that doesnt feel right to impress others

*Being popular at high school wont further your chances of prosperity, getting good grades will. Concentrate on that. Even if you arent 100% academic, there must be something you really like....pursue it!

*Dont take **** from anyone, and dont tolerate bullies.

*Some school counsellors are great. (Mine was also hawt!) Talk to them. Getting stuff off your chest is really therapeutic.

*Get some exercise. If left to fester too much, the mind falters.

*Cherish any friends or great times you may have, but dont become emotionally dependent on them. People will come and go through your life forever, thats what life is like. The only constant is *you*

*Get a little job. The quicker you get used to the idea of being financially independent, the easier your life will be when you move on beyond high school.

*Parents, close friends etc all care for you, but the main person who really looks out for you is YOURSELF... you'll do well to remember that !!

*good luck !!
