Negative Sun
Why am I one of the few that actually liked the first FF movie? Hmm... Congrats, you have taste!
RedHawke
I didn't think it was anything great but I enjoyed watching it. If the movie entertains me then it has done its job. But, no comic book movie is what I would call 'great'... except two. The first was Superman... The second was Batman Begins...

Agree with Superman, not Batman...Loved the Tim Burton ones waaay more, and Michael Keaton was a good Batman, but Jack Nicholson as the Joker is and always will be one of the best cast roles ever! Commander Obi-Wan
Batman Begins is hands down, the best superhero movie I've seen. Maybe Fantastic Four 2 will impress me. We'll wait and see.
RedHawke
Don't forget the first two Spider-man movies. I can and will forget the Spider Man movies... they just couldn't keep me interested. Too emo for me I guess. *Shrug* Agree with Superman, not Batman...Loved the Tim Burton ones waaay more, and Michael Keaton was a good Batman, but Jack Nicholson as the Joker is and always will be one of the best cast roles ever! Burton's version was too odd for my taste (yes I liked Keaton and Nicholson, but even they could not save a what equates to a un-entertaining movie to me). Batman Begins was a really good rendition of how Batman got his start, it wasn't cartoony or over the top. I judge a movie on its ability to entertain me, if I can watch it over and over again that is what makes a 'great' movie to me. Oops! Have we gone off topic? Oh yeah! FF2 looks interesting but I will reserve judgement until I see it.

The Source
I was not impressed with the first Fantastic Four movie, and I am just as not impressed with its sequel. Fantastic Four is not for everyone. When it comes to bad guys, Silver Surfer is just not threatening enough for me to see this movie. After reading so many comicbooks about the Silver Surfer, I consider him not to be an interesting character. If they showed Gallactis in the trailers, I would be more interested in this movie. After reading up on Gallactis's appearance (represented as a cloud in the sky for five minute), I will wait until it hits rentals to see the movie. Silver Surfer is just not threatening enough for me to buy a ticket. Fantastic Four was created to sucker in those people who just want a movie about CGI. Now, if they descided to use Thanos and the Infinity Ghauntlet, I would buy a ticket in a heart beat. Oh well.

Silver Surfer has ten times more depth than Galactus which is just your basic omnipotent presence. Even the Fantastic Four seem caricatured by comparison (which is why I didn't even bother with the first movie). Silver Surfer is just not threatening enough for me to buy a ticket. Fantastic Four was created to sucker in those people who just want a movie about CGI. Of course the movie is going to be full of special effects -- that's a big part of the fun of going to a theater -- but I'm hoping Stan Lee took some extra care to flesh out the Silver Surfer in more than just CGI. SS was one of his personal favorites after all.

Point Man
I saw FF2 today, and I was impressed. It is the best movie I have seen this year. I went to see Spiderman 3 with high expectations and was disappointed. For FF2, I entered with low expectations, based on the previous installment, and was pleasantly surprised. The writing was much better this time. The storyline was pretty simple, but it held together well. The acting was really improved this time, too. They did not have to rely on Michael Chilkis to carry all the drama this go around. The SS fanboys will be disappointed because he does not get many lines, but, since I always found the idea of an interstellar traveler riding on a surfboard to be ridiculous (every time I see the Silver Surfer, I think of the Beach Boys singing "Surfin USA"), it does not bother me. It is a movie about the Fantistic Four, after all. The depiction of Galactus will disappoint purists, too. In the movie it is just a cosmic force, not a sentient being. If you want to see a movie about the Silver Surfer, you will be disappointed. If you want to see a movie about the Fantastic Four, you will be pleased. Negative Sun
Good observation Jimbo, but those who have read the comics will know that the SS was originally just a side character in FF, which is quite close to the comics then...I loved the first FF movie so I'm really looking forward to this one... Fish.Stapler
It was decent. I have to say I was impressed with the enormous improvement. They made Galactus a cloud though instead of a being

If you want to see a movie about the Fantastic Four, you will be pleased. My thoughts exactly Jimbo. I'll add that I don't think Fishburne's voice was the best choice -- not what was in my head at all, having watched the animated series growing up. Fishburne might as well have played the part of the general in this movie. His lines about Galactus were fine, but having the same tone of voice for when he's saying something introspective just came across as flat. I had gone into the movie with reasonable expectations, knowing about how Galactus was portrayed, that dialogs would be shortened, that the plot would be simplified, etc. The Fantastic Four exceeded my expectations as a group, but Silver Surfer fell short, largely due to the voice acting which I didn't anticipate. REDJOHNNYMIKE
I liked it, definitely an improvement over the first. Honestly, I never read the comic books (worked, played with sticks, didn't read comics, yadayadayada) but I thought there would be more to the surfer thing than that. Although since I don't have any comparison, I'd have to say I liked the way the voice acting for him turned out.
Char Ell
FF:RotSS had a much better story than the first FF movie. How uncommon is that, to have a movie sequel that is better than the original? I dunno. But I thought the new movie was pretty good. Jessica Alba's character featured more prominently in this movie when compared with the first one though I didn't think she looked as hawt for some reason. *shrugs*
Jae Onasi
I enjoyed it--the dialogue was a little lame in spots, but the special effects were awesome.
Negative Sun
FF:RotSS had a much better story than the first FF movie. How uncommon is that, to have a movie sequel that is better than the original? Not technically a sequel, but TESB would be a prime example of that. X-Men 2 is a great example too, so is Terminator 2... Gonna see the movie this afternoon, can't wait! Edit: Seen it! It was flippin' amazing! Best superhero movie in a long time (probably since X-Men 2 came out), this is what movies like this should be like, fast, witty, really good looking and with a very good storyline...It picks up great from the last movie and wraps up plotlines nicely and effectively, even the ones who have been influenced by the comics etc will love it. The voice acting for the Surfer was great IMO, a character of his magnitude needs a voice to back that up, it was well done...I'm pleasantly surprised at the way they handled Galactus, it was kept simple, yet effective and impressive...(some people might have gone "huh wtf?" at the sight of a ten story purple costumed dude) Visually, what can I say? Amazing! The SS looks better than I've ever seen him, the movie has a great feel and atmosphere to it, without it looking too cartoony *cough*Hulk*cough* Anyways, if you haven't seen it yet...GO!
