Commander Obi-Wan
^^ Win. Well, aside from that. Come to Canada! Prime and I are from there. Pros: Hockey, 'Free' health care, striving dollar (at the moment), same-sex marriage (it's legal here), scenic... there are many pros aside from what I listed. I'm sure somebody from Canada can add to that. Cons: Cold (if you hate cold)
Quanon
Belgium , Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh . mur'phon
Finaly I had the time Tromsø (northern Norway) Note pros and cons depending on the person Pros: Very little crime, a dead drunk teenage girl can walk safely home We have been the top country acording to the UN for 6 years, still no2 Healthcare is excelent and free/very cheap We have strangely enough less religious than non-religious people (this ones for you Achilles) Everyone can speak english Free schools you can pretty much do anything once you turn 18 Huge areas of mountains, fjords and forests untouched by humans, perfect for camping or off-pist skiing, depending on the season. Darkness time for two months: the sun isn't up at all during the day, it's still light, just no sun, a perfect excuse to reeeelax. Northern lights Snow for a few months a year Midnight sun in the summer Extremely high standard of living Only guns for hunting allowed, and you need a licence The most konservative politicans here would be labeled liberal nut jobs in the US Very easy to get a well payd job, If you have a propper education. Cons while everyone can speak english, newspapers TV etc are for the most part in norwegian High taxes, and things are expensive, not a problem if you earn a norwegian wage, but if you don't it's hard. People are not open at all, and it can take a real effort to make friends. this is my main reason for leaving Schools aren't great, but something seems to be done Snow is getting unpredictable, and we seem to get less of it every year Cold summers Our kithchen can be compared to Brittains Canada seems to much like Norway for my liking, and in the US, I'll become a kid again (stupid 21year limit). I'll probably go to Canada once, if only to ski. Cons: Cold (if you hate cold) If I want to freeze my ass of, I'll do it at home thank you So far it seems like Malaysia and Brazil are best suited for me, guess I'm just sick of the west. Rev7
same-sex marriage (it's legal here) Does that mean that you support that 'law'!? Or are you welcoming it? Just curious...
Commander Obi-Wan
Does that mean that you support that 'law'!? Or are you welcoming it? Just curious... By all means. I have no problem with it. If somebody is attracted to someone of the same-sex and both are welcoming marriage, I believe they have the right to do that. Though, let's keep this type of conversation in Kavar's. John Galt
Eastern Kentucky, USA Pros -Generally nice, hospitable people -Plenty of elbow room -Decent housing prices -Coal(high paying, dirty jobs, plus nice tech/accounting) -Mostly safe, if nothing else(we have a gun/hunting culture, there aren't all that many shootings, and the ones that happen are hilariously absurd or drug related) -Lower cost of living, relative to the rest of the country -Nice mountains, beautiful and the weather isn't all that bad since they built the cut-thru to stop the floods(3rd largest earthmoving canal project in the world, or so I'm told) -Relatively low taxes, compared to other countries, I suppose. -Excellent independent schools -A lot of religion, if you're into that sort of thing. -Centre college, the Harvard of the South, and UK, which is awesome Cons -Some crazy, meth-addicted hillbillies -very spread out -Coal trucks cause horrible accidents from time to time -No public transportation to speak of, it just doesn't make sense here -still too much taxation, especially if you live in the "city" of Pikeville -County schools are generally corrupt, drug-ridden, and altogether awful. -A lot of religion, if you're not into that sort of thing. -horrid American foreign policy -excessive taxation still -dying dollar -corrupt government: local(magistrates are a joke), state(another scandal for the first republican elected in 30 years), and national -No shooting ranges, surprisingly, and only two gun shops(which is why I have to drive 4.5 hours to Louisville for a decent show) -nearest commercial airport is 90 minutes away, and that's just Charleston, WV. I usually fly out of LEX, which is about 2.5 hours out. edit: Anyone from Switzerland around here? depending on who wins the next presidential election, I might decide to expatriate. Samuel Dravis
Texas state, USA! Specifically the central region around Austin. Pros -RICHARD GARRIOT -Lots of tech jobs -RICHARD GARRIOT's house -Excellent weather. Sun sun sun sun sun and few cloudy days for all of winter, fall and spring and summer. Excellent summers too! While the rest of the country is freezing anywhere down to 20 F we're at a lovely 90-95F. -Lots of liberals, slightly less many conservatives, but everyone is very vocal. -State government is only useful because of no state income tax -Is a great place to raise a family. Where I grew up people almost never barred their doors to their houses or cars, and the fully automatic assault rifle was (nearly) unheard of. Huzzah! -NCSoft offices here, yay Guildwars! -Depending where you choose to live, intelligent and friendly people (if you live next to me) -Leslie -Very nice, very famous music scene downtown. <3 Cons -Lance Armstrong -Tom DeLay -Babies -The rest of Texas surrounds Austin. >_>

mimartin
Cons -The rest of Texas surrounds Austin. >_> Hey, I resent that remark I love the Austin area, but I love the entire state of Texas (unless you count Dallas and the awful Oklahoma border area. I consider that Yankee Land.)
Arcesious
USA, Nebraska Pros: A nice, calm place to live. The cities isn't as insnae and crazy as new york, is much calmer and more relaxing. Nice homes, not too expensive Center of the united states, technically the safest place in the U.S from foreign attacks cause it's surroudned by allt he other states that have all those military bases. It's also got a huge airforce base with a bomb shelter that pres bush came to during 9'11. Mostly nice people Nice landscape, parks. Nebraska is not as much of a 'farm state as many people think it is, it's kinda inbetween big city and coutnry life, meaning it's prefectly balanced. You can live a nice, clam life here with many freinds. we speak english a bunch of other stuff Cons: U.S government is a mess national economy is going down the drain lots of jerks here, but there are jerks everywhere. at least we don't have a very high crime rate here. not many rich jobs you cn get here as far as i know police in nebraska give you tickets for the stupidest things, just for going a tiny bit over the speed limit. just watch your drivign on the interstate is all i've got to say cold winters, not a tropical state like florida things are super expensive gas prices are rediculous insane prices for healthcare. my parents had to pay a thousand dollars just to get me one lousy x-ray when i hurt my knee really bad and it turned out it wasn't even borken so the x-ray was a waste of money! Bee Hoon
@mur'phon, yay, Malaysia! Oh yes, I forgot to mention. Most Malaysians can speak some English at least, though we tend to slip into Manglish, but you'll get used to it:) Outside of the city, you'll need some Malay to get by, but it's an easy language to learn and there are plenty of English-Malay dictionaries. If that's not your style, charades is pretty fun:p
mur'phon
I lived in Cape Town for a year, which has a reasonable amount of Malaysians (everyone in betwen black&white was called malay). Really friendly folks (see why I'm leaving Norway), and a lot of good food. Not sure about the language, I used to think norwegian was easy until I tried to learn it to a friend
