Heaviest snowfall for 18 years. No buses running, severe delays on the tubes and most schools closed. Calvin and Hobbes hilariously ruined snowmen for me. leXX
Yep, pathetic eh? It rarely snows here, and when it does everything comes to a standstill. Even with prior warning, no grit is laid down and no preperations made. It's the subject of constant jokes between Londoners, but we don't really mind because it means a day off work. It was like the whole of London came out to play yesterday.

Funny thing is all the people (probably Daily Mail readers) demanding that the government buy Snow Ploughs, and invest in snow equipment -all because for two days out of a year the country goes ga-ga. "Canada/Moscow doesn't have this problem!" people scream. There's a reason for that - on average, they have snow for nearly half a year. And, as the news says, it's the worst it's been for two decades.

Astor
About 5 inches has been bumped on Warwickshire overnight. Now it's our turn to come to a complete halt... EDIT: All buses have been cancelled (Coventry, Rugby, Leamington, the list goes on), as well as trains... and i'm not stupid enough to try and walk anywhere. Astor
Enjoy your day off! ^^ I certainly will, as far as I can. Ideally I'd go out riding (perfect for keeping warm, and enjoy the snow at the same time), but it's six miles to the stables... That's nothing. That's what winter is like here normally. Expect right now, where it's like spring. Trust me though, the snow will come back. Astor
We are fairly lightweight over here - but we don't get it too often, so we go to pieces at what most would call a light shower. It is fun watching people unexpectedly do 360 turns in a people carrier, though.

leXX
No, but there were crowds like that in every park in London. The city went a bit crazy on Monday. There were snow sculptures and people having snowball fights everywhere you looked. We may not get snow very often, but when we do, we make the most of it.
