mimartin Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Actor Harry Morgan passed away at age 96. Be it Colonel Potter or Det. Gannon, Harry Morgan is already missed. RIP (This BBCode requires its accompanying plugin to work properly.) Oh, for those that have never seen it. Check out the "The Ox-Bow Incident."
Lynk Former Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Wow, didn't realise the dude was still alive... that's a pretty long run... 96 years.
Darth Avlectus Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Farewell Harry Morgan. Liked watching MASH when I was little. 96 is a good long life. Morgan wasn't that much younger than my great grandmother is.
Mav Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 When I read the first half of the thread title, I was like... Harry Morgan's been dead since before Season 1
Totenkopf Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 First words that came to mind were, coincidentally, the first two in mim's clip: horse hockey. RIP. Toodaloo.....
Pho3nix Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Is the title of this thread a pun on Harry Potter?
Sabretooth Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Is the title of this thread a pun on Harry Potter? My thoughts exactly.
Bob Lion54 Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Never got into MASH, but I loved watching Dragnet on Nick-at-Night growing up. He'll always be Bill Gannon to me. RIP. Mr. Morgan!
Astor Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Never watched MASH, but I remember him from a quite a few Westerns, especially as the Mayor in Support your local Sheriff, and the cowardly Marshal in The Shootist. RIP.
Lynk Former Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 All those who never watched or aren't fans of M*A*S*H are dead to me now... DEAD TO ME! *points*
Totenkopf Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 I liked MASH better with Blake and Trapper, but Col. Potter was ok too. One of Morgan's earlier appearances on the show was pretty loopy as a visiting general... (sound not so great, but scene is hilarious..) mimartin Posted December 9, 2011 Author Posted December 9, 2011 I liked MASH better with Blake and Trapper, but Col. Potter was ok too. Some of the best were with Blake and Trapper, but I still loved M.A.S.H. up until the point that it got holier than thou. However, when the show lasted 11 years and the Korean War only lasted 3 you would expect the material to be diluted over time. I still use a line from M.A.S.H. when asked about my religion. "Druid, reform." I'm "allowed to pray at bushes."
Q Posted December 9, 2011 Posted December 9, 2011 Some of the best were with Blake and Trapper, but I still loved M.A.S.H. up until the point that it got holier than thou. The "dreams" episode probably counts as holier than thou, but it was pretty awesome, IMO.
ShinDangaioh Posted December 10, 2011 Posted December 10, 2011 He was a great actor, but the later seasons of MASH weren't all that great. It went from a light herated comedy to a serious drama. Bill Gannon was also an excellent charater that Morgan played.
