According to Noah Falstein (and plenty others LucasFilm Games alumni), mostly everyone was fond of Star Trek at that time in the studio. And concerning Star Wars, there was some various proposal for an adventure games but none has been validated. I remember that Mark Ferrari put some SW Adventure Games art on his website. But when I asked where it came from, he answered me that it was just a proposal from an outside company that wanted to pitch a SW game. The project was never really considered...
AlfredJ Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 A Star Wars adventure game would have been really interesting, but I feel like we might have been stuck with just Star Wars adventure games instead of all the original IP's if they ever started down that road. Still, that second screenshot in particular makes me very curious about what might have been. That UI is crazy though! It's hard to imagine how it would have actually been played. Seems pretty different from what we're used to in the other games.
Nano Posted September 21, 2020 Author Posted September 21, 2020 From Noah Falstein Facebook. Terryl Whitlatch's drawings of the intelligent alien race in Falstein's version of the Dig (circa 1990). Whitlatch will later design Sebulba or Jar Jar Binks for Geoge Lucas in SW Episode 1. 5
Nano Posted September 30, 2020 Author Posted September 30, 2020 Ron Gilbert put some old unseen docs on his website. The TimeFly may have been written between Maniac Mansion and The Secret of Monkey Island. https://grumpygamer.com/time_fly Reading this, I think I've already seen that kind of idea somewhere... 3 1
ATMachine Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 (edited) The thing with the burnt-up body of a time traveler returning to the point where they started reminds me a bit of the "Heaven Sent" episode of the Doctor Who revival. But I honestly doubt it's anything more than just a genuine coincidence. Edited October 1, 2020 by ATMachine
Nano Posted October 1, 2020 Author Posted October 1, 2020 Craig's teasing for MI 30th anniversary. 🥰 5
ATMachine Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Notice the logo is suppposed to be cerise with a purple shadow (with a black outline instead on the side labels). On the published box it became simply purple with a black shadow, the same as in-game where there was only an EGA palette in the first release. Also, the "yellow" side label background color became more of a cream on the printed box.
Marius Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Interesting, wonder how it would look in cerise with purple shadow. @Laserschwert, please photoshop it for us, you are our only hope!
Marius Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Awesome, yes, thanks haha. I find little experiments like this interesting. The colors are really nice actually. I think the most irritating element are the sharp shadows, which somehow fit better when they are black. I think.
Laserschwert Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Colors are a difficult beast anyway. Just compare the colouring on the PC box compared to the SegaCD release.
ATMachine Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 (edited) Interesting. As I'd suspected, the effect is similar to the imperial Tyrian purple of ancient Rome. (As I noted above, the purple/black logo on the released version matches the restrictions of the palette in the EGA game.) Thanks for the recreation, @Laserschwert! Surely not the shipped resource files? Does Aric Wilmunder have an older version stashed away somewhere?
Nano Posted October 17, 2020 Author Posted October 17, 2020 (edited) I suppose you would have to ask Marius, but I doubt that this background comes from anything to Aric Wilmunder. Edited October 17, 2020 by Nano
