Who Is Posting Nonsense Under My Name!!!!

Darth Groovy

Recommended Posts

There have been 3 threads posted by me that I did not post. There are gibberish threads, one about yoda and a modem and another about kissing mom's cheek. This is not the first time this has happened to me. I am going to change my password and if that doesn't solve it, I'm deleteing my account and starting over. I just wanted to post this because it is really buggint me, and I wanted you swampies to know that I did NOT post that crap and would really like to know what the hell is going on ASAP! To the swampies who thought that was me.........I apologize.

Whoever is hacking me or using my name and password you have really gone too far this time!

You should first talk to the mods and find out exactly what IP address is making those posts - to see if it is different.

If so, they can track that person down.

Now, if it's the same IP address or range, you may have a hacker on your ISP's network.

Are you using Cable? If so, there are many potential leaks in that and you should use a firewall like ZoneAlarm for starters.

The free one should be good enough for now.

Also, check and make sure your ports are safe:

and:

Also, if you have Windows XP - this is a must:

The password has already been changed. The Mods are helping me every way they possibly can, and I must add that despite what some of you may think, these guys really do care and are completely on top of what they do. Rhett traced the ip address and there are some minor discrepincies in register dates, and one unidentified IP. The part that is bugging me the most is the ISP or my email address for those posts are no longer even valid. I thought that maybe my they were still under my dad's account or my account that I used to have and it was not even recognized(I still remember the password I had used on that account.) Also strange is that I did not register with LF under that account either. That account did use this IP at one point but should be long gone, since that name has not been used in over a year. I think I am going to contact AOL and get this resolved.

Let this be a warning to anyone who chooses AOL as an ISP, DO NOT USE THEM! AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!

I could type for hours about the other problems I have had with this service but there are not enough hours in the day.

Lesson learned.

AOL has been contacted. I spoke with one of they're "support people" (::Holds back the laughter::) who has assured me that that account has been inactive for 7 months (althoug it has been a year since I have used it.) So whoever is posting under that account is pulling something really slick. I explained them my situation and got somewhat of a contradictory argument. Reguardless I have just deleted anything on my hardive that remotely has any relation to AOL. Heres to hoping and wishing that this never happens to me again. The only one that will decide to leave the swamp will be me, I am not going to sit back and let some half wit get me banned for spamming.

BTW Rouge Nine, that is about the nicest thing that anyone has ever said to me on hear ever and it meant alot to me, I mean it.

To everyone else: Thanks for you thoughts and concerns and advice on this matter. And remember to stay as far away from AOL as possible!

"Well, crying isn't gonna bring him back...unless your tears smell like dog food. So you can either sit there crying and eating can after can of dog food until your tears smell enough like dog food to make your imposter come back or you can go out there and find your imposter. "
