I downloaded the demo, and played it, and I didn't like it.

1. I have a monster machine (512mb of ram, 1.6ghz, GeForce 2 mx), a DSL connection, and yet it was a little choppy.

2. The controls and movement is alright, I don't appreciate people running really fast, making it almost impossible to shoot them, is unrealistic.

3. The interface in general is OK.

I might have a answer to Reason 1, I didn't download the patch which one of the bugs was, some choppiness. But still, JKII owns it!

Don't blame Raven - if it were up to them, you'd be seeing a dedicated JK2 forum at their site with better support (LucasArts wouldn't let them do that - or patch the game further).

SOF 2 has awesome support and it's under Raven's complete control.

FYI - Activision (the publisher) owns Raven.

it!

Well, that's not quite a monster machine, your GeForce 2 MX holds you back quite a bit and creates a HUGE bottleneck. Runs great on even my old rig

Anyway, I bought it, Bombing run is the **** :) Very fun mod. The game by itself is damn good too, not quite Jedi Outcast, but really good none the less

The editing tools are pure gold, very easy to work with. The only thing it's lacking is an .PSK importer, something that I bet we'll see eventually :)

Absurd, I don't blame Raven, but I feel that they should at least really try and pressure Lucas Arts to let them help us out with the animations at the very least. I know though that LA is the root of the problem :(

well, i jsut spent the past 40 minutes getting the demo, and i'm rather pleased with it actually. I'd actually buy this maybe. A game like this will get old for me pretty quick with no story or objectives behind it, so i'll probably just stick to RTCW for multi-player. Maybe

1) Terrain/water = I was really impressed at how cool the terrain was done, it made the one level almost look like Endor. lol

the water was alright as well, except too shiny looking.

2) Weapons = I liked the all but the standard machine gun and the Bio gun, or as i like to call it, the Goop Gun. The first didn't look like a machine gun and the latter was jsut useless, but a really cool attempt at something different anyhow.

3) gameplay = I have to agree with the person who said you move too fast. It is a bit too fast, even for bio-mechanical suits of armour. " Slow to one-quarter Mr Crusher" :)

Overall, i'd give this game a 9 out of 10. I played at 1024x768 screen size plus high detail on everything and it wasn't choppy, which was good...as well as the atmosphere of the gameplay was great...but i'm not a huge multiplayer player, so hopefully we'll get a SP game with this engine soon....

Running around with guns only (with severe unbalance in their lethality) gets old fast. Great eye candy and the Karma physics engine is sweet though. But it just seems like total chaos to me.

With ease of moding being available there is no doubt it will be very popular long after the "new" wears off. Even Wired Lamp Studios has left JKII for UT2K3.

Its a brand new high poly engine, 1.6GHz is fairly average these days and a GF2 MX isn't all that great for todays games, it's a cut down GF2 and it doesn't run DirectX 8.1 effects.

Sounds like you've got "monster machine" in your head and didn't bother turning down a few details.

My brothers PC runs it ok and its a 1.2 GHz Duron, GF2 PRO and 256MB ram.

I like that after playing JK2 with all the idiots making up rules to make things more ordered, Id call it fun not chaos :)

Seriously though I think the variety of the gametypes should keep things interesting long enough for modders to come up with something.

Well, I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but I can't answer the poll question because I OWN a copy of UT2k3!!! :D Bought it at Gamestop for$39.99... Graphics are great, controls are unique, but everyone running around at full speed ALL the time is kind of... unrealistic (as forementioned).

I find the water in Quake 3 still superior - notice the bubble, the fact if you walk on it it swirls, the light going through the water - the sexy Slash swimming animation. the water moves around (though you can't see in screenshots), and it makes all sorts of 'water sounds' including characters gasping, etc. :)

The swimming was done in third person for perspective.

I found UT interesting for a few minutes ... and got bored in about the same time with the UT2003 demo.

I just am not much into run and gun MP FPS games. Quake III? Yawn ...

SoFII's MP test was interesting for a couple of weeks, and I pop into a JKII MP saber battle occasionally, but I'm definitely a SP person.

So ... I'll pass.

Mike
