imax is like a movie theator, expect the part that the seats has stairs and is diagonally vertical (kinda weird to describe) and the screen is like 50 by 50 feet i think. its awesome.

Imax also has speakers behind the screen to make sound like the person is actually in front of you. not like around in regular theaters.:)

I have a big screen home entertainment theater and I am quite sure the DVD will work just fine. :D

i dont think u understand, its a special movie format designed for a particular sort of theatre. it wouldnt work on DVD man. you just dont get IMAX movies for home use. it REQUIRES a 50 ft high screen. these IMAX theatres are a rarity you just wouldnt get it on DVD trust me.

Prepare yourself for a shocker!

I dont really care! *gasp* :o

I didn't like the movie itself, so why would I go pay to see it in a bigger screen to be even more terrible. Face it, the acting was terrible in the movie. George Lucas is an excellent director at action scenes and special effects, unfortuantly he cannot get the best out of actors. The cast is great, its just thier lines destroy it all.

In the original trilogy G. Lucas didn't do the directing himself, he was producer, but not director. Thus making them better than the new trilogy.

But that's my opinion. iMax movies are amazing. I saw Blue Planet and a few other movies in those theatres. What I really want to see is Apollo 13 on iMax (like AOTC, its been released in iMax theatres). Now THAT is an amazing movie!

He directed A New Hope....just not Empire or Jedi. But I love every single star wars movie, and if the nearest IMAX weren't 3 hours away i'd see it as often as possible. But as is i'll probably only see it once at the IMAX :( But it's gonna be AWESOME....i'm buying my tickets to go on the 9th!

The basic difference with IMAX is the size of each frame. It is 70mm, against the 35mm for standard theatre, but also the rate at which it is fed through the projector, so it is still 3 times sharper/better than the standard 70mm print from Hollywood.

In general, the film is displayed sideways when compared to the normal theatre film. It runs left to right, rather than top to bottom
