00M-187 Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 Just watching ROTJ and noticed something I havent noticed before. Luke uses Grip on the Gamoreans when he enters Jabbas palace!! If you listen closely you can even hear the sound. He even looks like a Sith with the Black Cloak. He rolls up all ****y and acts pretty damn arrogant to be a Jedi... Luke would have been an awesome Sith. Wonder what it would be like if he accepted Vaders offer and they offed the Emperor...
Skate Boy Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 Yep, I've seen that before. He would have made a cool sith.
Mex Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 This thread has done before, but I will still tell you why... _______________ The jedi use powers to defend their selfs Sith do not Luke was using grip to keep them away! And Jedi-Sith have the same powers, but use them in different ways. _______________
Hekx Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 I read something a while ago.. (haven't been able to find it I'll post a link when I do) That a Jedi Apprentice can use both sides of the Force (like the Shadow / Gray Jedi theory of balancing the force to use both sides equally) until they come to the end of their path and choose either Light or Dark. Luke wouldn't have lasted long as a Sith
Skate Boy Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 Nope if you listen closly you can hear the "Grip" noise.
-s/<itzo- Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 only dark jedis and siths can use force lightning and grip? but why?
C'jais Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 Quote Originally posted by -s/<itzo- only dark jedis and siths can use force lightning and grip? The moment a "light" jedi starts using these, it is dubious whether he's really a jedi after all. I think Luke used "grip" to gently move the gamorreans back a 'lil, is all....
Darklighter Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 ^I think Jais is right. Luke didn't kill the guards, he merely pulled them aside. Well, Luke was still a Jedi in training anyway. Anakin was only still a padawan when he murdered all of those Tusken Raiders, yet he still became a Jedi before turning to the darkside. There is no strict law to say that Jedi can't use certain force powers. They can use them all probably, but have been taught not to use them.
PhantomHelix Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 and actually, choking isnt the darkside unless it is not provoked. if he needs to get away, he can use it. and to this thread topic, NO $h!t HE USED THE DARK SIDE IN THE MOVIE!
00M-187 Posted December 3, 2002 Author Posted December 3, 2002 He even acts like a Sith, Telling Jabba he's going to destroy him, and this is the last mistake you'll ever make. He Even looks like a Sith. He is practically turned. When he battles Vader he is using the darkside...
Darth Homer Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 Lucas has said that he was thinking of what a cowboy wears when he really mean business...black, so that's why Luke was dressed in black....and he did use grip...if you look, the guards grab their throats like they can't breathe...I also agree with all above about using it to move them aside
Clem Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 THERE ARE NO FORCE POWERS!!! they are a game invention! GRRRRRRRRRRRR i hate it ... it confuses people theres no such thing as them .... dark siders tend to act offensively ... light siders defensively ... that is what makes their actions dark/light side ... not the actions themselves

Mind trick, grip, push, pull etc, they are in the movies just as they are in the games.
Sivy Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 of course luke killed the guards, they both were clearly choking, it's just as vader did to many incompetent admirals. i thought Hekx Noxu explanation was quite good. however i go with 'he did it 'cause GL thought it would be cool' simple as that really
Clem Posted December 3, 2002 Posted December 3, 2002 theyre not force powers ... theyre how the jedi manipulate the force they dont think "mind trick" and say stuff they dont think "push" etc. its just so its useable in the game i dont think he killed the guards ... i imagine he let them go as vader did with blokie
Darth Talliusc Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 i agree that force powers dont exist. its just how the user manipulates the living force around them, its not the skill thats dark, its the USE and INTENTION of that skill that makes it dark. force grip could be just as useful at popping the top of a persistent ketchup bottle and despite what you say that would NOT be considered evil. that said however i think that luke used the darkside vs vader in the end of rotj, he went nuts. just like i think obi was leaning dark after the death of qui gon. he was acting way more offensively and yelled pretty damn loudly. all signs say obi was angry and anger causes violent emotions and with a jedi that generally means violence or meditation, guess which obi used
DiRtY $oUtH™ Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 I think Yoda would have been the best Sith of all. Thats why my name is Darth Yoda!
darthweaver Posted December 4, 2002 Posted December 4, 2002 it's true that there are no force powers you only maipulate it. i think it's if the force is used in anger it is dark

lightspeed Posted December 5, 2002 Posted December 5, 2002 I mever noticed the choking sounds untill I went back and listened for them:D I guess i'd better pay more attention to detail in future movies:D
DiRtY $oUtH™ Posted December 5, 2002 Posted December 5, 2002 Quote I mever noticed the choking sounds untill I went back and listened for them Well, after watching it as many time as I have, you have to notice it.
