Katarn07
Am I the only person in the world that actually likes this movie? Everyone I know hates it. They absolutley despise the movie. I never read the novel (by Michael Criton[sorry, can't spell that]), but really enjoyed the movie. Now if you read the book, you'll hate the movie. That's a given. I read Sphere, saw the movie, and thought it was terrible. Tim Curry makes a great "bad guy", if he can be called that. Are there any other Michael Criton movies out there, besides Shere, Congo, and Jurassic Par I & II? I'd like to see them, not read them... I'm a lazy bum. JediNyt
That movie was a long time ago. I almost forgot it. I was like 13 when I saw it in the theater with my dad. It wasnt bad. You asked about other Crichton books to movies, Andromeda Strain was one. I never saw it. The book was alright. Im not a big fan of Crichton but the Jurassic Park books were quite good. Like Tolkien he puts a little toooo much detail in his writing to the point where youre tired from reading 2 pages. Imo.
Katarn07
Sphere was a good book. There was about a chapeter describing black holes that literally put me to sleep. I skipped that. The movie followed the book quite well, but it killed some people off in a totally, whacked up way that made nooo sense. Andromeda Strain. I havn't seen any reference to a movie, but saw it in my library. I'll try to find that. *** Ahhh... Crichton. That's how you spell it. I don't like ER, and he had something to do with that. There was a good one with Ewan McGregor though. That was cool. No disguising his accent to Sir Alec Guiness's.

Surfnshannon
If you liked the movie...buy the book. The problem I had with the movie was that it was NOTHING like the book. The book was awesome. Like everyone said...it came out a long time ago. But check out that book its great.
jokemaster
Some of the movies mentioned on the official site are: there's The Thirteen Warriors, disclousure, the great train robbery, they're making Timeline, he wrote Twister, the Andromeda Strain movie is from 1971, westworld, the terminal man, Coma, Rising Sun, and that's just about it
Trice
Whats congo?
GonkH8er
Timeline should be a good movie. I loved the book. Pity about the game though.. Ive read all of crichton's novels. I just finished his newest one, prey, a few days ago. I'd have to say it's one of his best. Would make quite a good movie I'd imagine. They ruined sphere with the movie. I quite liked congo, both the book and the movie. The andromeda strain movie wasn't too crash hot... although it IS quite old... the 2 JP novels worked quite nicely, I'm sure everyone will agree I recommend every to get a copy of 'prey' and read it. Fantastic stuff
Surfnshannon
I saw that in the bookstore - What is Prey about? I spilled my Starbucks Hot chocolate on me when trying to grab the book...so I didn't get to read what it was about!!!
ckcsaber
I love Michael Chricton. Loved all of his books. Even Airframe. Congo was an okay movie. I was freaked out when I was a kid when I saw it, especially with that "We are watching you" line ^_^

C'jais
Seen the movie a long time ago. I'm not a very good movie critic, usually I think watching a movie at all beats doing nothing. Hence I rarely b!tch and rip them apart. I recall it being good entertainment. But then again, I thought the same thing about Blair Witch Project. Now there's a movie that leaves you wondering if it was hidiously bad, or supremely brilliant, with you not getting it.
ShockV1.89
Blair Witch Project 0wnz j0o. Congo was pretty good. Got a little dumb at the end when there were too many monkeys, though...

I suggest the book. No doubt it is probably better. But if you read it, don't see the movie. You'll hate it!
Yun the Sith
I didn't think it was that bad, I kinda liked it. It might be a little corny, but it still was a pretty good movie. Never read the book.
ET Warrior
Wow, Michael Crichton is my favorite author EVER.....i've read a great deal of his books and i have ordered Prey from my book club, so i should be getting it in a week or two.... The movie severely disappointed me.....too much not anything like the book. They took the basic ideas of it and made a new completely their own piece. Sphere was a pretty rotten movie...i read the book and was excited...then i saw it. Jurrasic park was wonderful...but i though jurrasic park 2 was less than wonderful....again, it diverged too far from the book for my taste. Timeline should be a good movie. They're making a movie timeline? That is currently my favorite book EVER right alongside the Seamus Heaney translation of Beowulf.....
Hyperglide
I saw the movie a while back like 5-6 years ago so my memorys are really foggy of it. Only rare glimpses of it from trailers and reading these forums somewhat jog my mem'. I'm glad I forgot it because it was a really cheesy lame action flick. I see that scene where Laura Linney's (was she in it? lol the female looks like her) character keeps shooting that damn laser gun thing that's powered by that diamond, what a gay scene that was. I wouldn't want to give it another shot to better judge my opinion because so many people already dislike it so, it's probably never gonna be seen my my eyes again. I did like Sphere though great cast in that movie. I never read the book so i'm not biased in that way, sure the book is always better but I'm glad I got the non-book perspective first. I'm doing that with the Lord of the Rings currently lol.... At least if I read the trilogy afterwords I won't be dissappointed, it's a win-win for me
Jedi_Monk
A serious movie about knights in the middle ages? Oh yeah, Timeline is gonna kick! I think I'll like it no matter what. Those are way too few and far between; A Knight's Tale is currently one of my favorite movies.
