Eldritch
I've seen every movie mentioned in this thread with the exception of The Ring and The Thing... strange how the 2 movies I haven't seen both sound the same, no? One movie I'd like to recommend for those that may not have seen it is Fight Club. Excellent movie, and for those of you out there who are insomniacs, it may make you think about getting more sleep. You should also try and see 100 Girls, if you haven't yet. Very funny, and highlights many of the differences between how guys think and how girls think. And lots of hot girls in this movie as well, which is always a good thing. Oh, and Xerxes, I've seen Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid. Very funny. "I can't swim." "Well the fall alone will probably kill you."

obi
I think everyone should take the time to watch Blazing Saddles. It's one of the funniest things I have ever seen. It's built of racism, but it is meant in jest. It's verry funny, and I have not met anyone that has seen it and didn't like it. It's probably the best Mel Brooks film besides Spaceballs. Reb Starblazer
Ah, I knew I was forgetting a few. I typed my last post before I went to work, so I did it in a rush and left out a few. "Leon - The Profesional" is amazing Skitzo, and you're right as well Aru-Wen, "100 Girls" is a great movie. Like one of those teen movies, but not quite. It's difficult to explain, but it's good. I recommend "The Killer" by John Woo. Probably his best movie, plenty of action with a wonderful and touching story. If you want just pure action I recommend "Hard boiled", it's Woo's last Hong Kong film before he went Hollywood, so he decided to go all out on it. "Rashomon" by Akira Kurosawa is a movie told from four different perspectives, but inevitably comes down to one single, simple meaning : There is no such thing as truth. Perspective distorts reality and shapes what you define as the truth. What is true to you, may not be to another. I also highly recommend "The Hidden Fortress", also by Akira Kurosawa. Anyone who is a Star Wars fan should watch this movie, as it was this very movie that inspired George Lucas to create his galaxy far, far away. EDIT: Ah, another Saints fan. Everyone who I have shown this movie to absolutely loves it. It's a shame that more people don't know about it. Can't wait for the sequel. Yes, you heard me, a sequel is in the works. Oh, and here you go Talliusc. I actually used to have this as my sig here on LF. "And Shepards we shall be, for thee my lord, for thee. Power hath descended forth from thy hand, so that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. We shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine Patris...et Filius... Spiritus sancti"

ckcsaber
Originally posted by ET Warrior At the moment all I can think of is Death to Smoochy Good pick ET! This movie is great IMO. The humor is pretty dark, but I loved it. Edward Norton is really good in it, as is Robin Williams. Another good movie is "American History X", also starring Ed Norton. It is a little bloody, but is well directed, and has a good message behind it. It is about a Neo-Nazi (Ed Norton) changing his ways, or so to say. "Rushmore" Directed by Wes Anderson, a quirky little movie that is really good. It is about an under acheiving "genius", who is in High School. He writes plays, creates clubs, and does a lot of "after school" stuff, but is absolutly horrible at school. He falls in love with a teacher, who is like twice his age, and becomes friends with a students rich father (played by Bill Murray) Bill Murray's character also falls in love with this teacher, so the 2 have their own little competition. Really good flick. "The Royal Tennanbaums", also dircted by Wes Anderson, this is a movie about a crazy family, complete with 3 child prodigy's and a crazy dad, played by Gene Hackman. The 3 kids later grow up. One of them becomes a star tennis player, another becomes a famous artist (Gwenith Paltrow), and another becomes a buisness tycoon (Ben Stern). This is a really good film, that has some depth to it, and there are some really hilarious parts. I really recommend this one Finally, "Being John Malkovich" Directed by Spike Jonze. Its very hard to describe this movie without sounding insane. Luckily, I usually do, so I'll try my best:D. Basically its about a portal into another persons body, where you can view what they do for a certain amount of time. This movie is focused on the Portal of John Malkovich, an actor, and delves into the lives of the people who discover this portal. It's a rather dark/humorous film that is highly recomended by your local movie buff, ckcsaber:rolleyes:. Hope some of you can watch these movies because they really are good. "Brother Aniki" (or simply brother) "Memento"-That movie is played backwards...far out man! "Being John Malkovich" now that's a weird movie, i loved it! "High plains drifter" with Clint Eastwood, he basically takes over a small town and does whatever he wants!. Ohh forgot "Ghost Dog"...

Eldritch
Some excellent movies have been named, but no one has mentioned Gosford Park yet. Very British (i've got nothing against Brits but some don't like their movies), but an excellent whodunnit type with some good British humor. Lost Welshman
I watched a film last night, Joe Dirt. I thought it would be really boring. Its directed by Adam Sandler, who doesnt appear, and is the best film ive seen in a while (best comedy) Its about this guy, Joe, Joe Dirt, who lost his family in the grand canyon when he was eight. Hes working as a lowly janitor in a radio station and is spotted by a guy, because of his weird hair (that is really a wig, he was born without the top of his skull) anyway, he gets shown to the radio guy and is asked to explain his story. It turns out to be really funny with quite a few famous faces. here are some of the things he gets up to: Finds a meteor when hes in his very early 20s and takes it with him (hes homeless btw). He goes to check out how much its worth and it turns out it was a huge pile of frozen crap from an aeroplane (and he ate off it). He shoots a roman candle at a bucket of gasoline, He near gets eaten by a crocodile. aanyway, all of those are alot funnier than they sound, the film is absolutly great with a heartwarming stotyline. You all have to check it out.

Katarn07
I have never seen Matrix. What are you talking about every one has?! I really ought to. My movie suggestion to see is Band of Brothers. OK, not released in theatres, really a miniseries and 10 hours long, but you can pick up a box set on VHS or DVD and Wal-Mart. Not sure outside of USA though... Great epic war story. True to. Makes it all the better.
ckcsaber
Originally posted by Divine Spirit Stephen King's The Stand That was a great movie, but the book was absolutly spectacular. I really recommend reading the book, especially if you like epics. On to the movies! "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" This is just a great flick. About a kid in High School, has a girlfirend, has a great buddy, so they ditch school, go to downtown Chicago, and have a blast. Really good flick. Mathhew Broderick(spelling?) stars in it.
