scabb Posted March 21, 2003 Posted March 21, 2003 For those of you who have the soundtrack / have ripped/downloaded music, what's your favourite track? There are quite a few to choose from, nearly all of the soundtrack is brilliant. My current favourite tracks are "Swanky Maximino" and "Talking Limbo".
Grim_comician Posted March 24, 2003 Posted March 24, 2003 Well, I like the theme of Velasco. And I like The enlightened Florist.
Ztev Posted March 26, 2003 Posted March 26, 2003 I like nearly all of the soundtrack, I think it's great. My favourites would be: Companeros Los Angelitos Raoul Appears (though it only goes for about 15 seconds)
Thrik Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 I like the credits theme.. the one that goes from the festival to meche's theme (I think?) Of course this opinion is based from my ears over a year ago. If I listened to it again I'd probably prefer another track.
C Shutt Posted April 1, 2003 Posted April 1, 2003 It's a bit short, but "She Sailed Away" is beautiful.
elTee Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 I like beloved sanspoof, but the LSA is the best theme in the game. I don't have the soundtrack *yet* but its only a matter of time.
Sanspoof Posted April 4, 2003 Posted April 4, 2003 'Rusty Anchor' isn't considered background music but it's great! Companeros and Bone Wagon are good too!
Remi Posted April 5, 2003 Posted April 5, 2003 "The Enlightened Florist" is class and so is "Casino Calavera". The credit theme is good too.
theman Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 Is the soundtrack available on CD? If so, where can I get it. I'm in the UK, so they'd have to be able to deliver here. Thanks, Dan.

ZaXeriaw Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 You can rip'em of your self with ScummRev. There is a lot of nice tracks, but my favorite is the End Credits track...
Grim_comician Posted April 9, 2003 Posted April 9, 2003 "The Gateway" seems to be in almost same quality like from Heroes of Might & magic IV, and I like it!
Thirith Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 Hi everyone, I'm new on the board (as you can probably see), and I've tried to find an answer to my question by using the search function, but so far I've found nothing. Can someone here tell me if there's a way I can convert the GF soundtrack (from my original CDs) into a format that I can burn onto an audio CD? Is it even legal to do so, or is this one of those 'don't ask, don't tell' things? Anyway, a reply (on the forum or via e-mail) would be much appreciated. Thanks!
scabb Posted April 19, 2003 Author Posted April 19, 2003 As long as you own the original Grim Fandango, and don't plan on distributing the discs, it's perfectly legal. Use ScummREV to rip the *.wav files, then you can use a program like Nero to burn to disc.
Darth Eggplant Posted April 19, 2003 Posted April 19, 2003 I have Nero a cd burner program, you can make a perfect copy of the cd or using audiograbber you can make wav's or mp3's of the cd. and with scumm rev you can get all the music not on the cd. or you can download almost the entire rev ost from my site: http://www.geocities.com/calaverablanca
Branik Posted April 22, 2003 Posted April 22, 2003 Thanks to a few helpful people around here, I've also had the chance to listen to a few of them these last few days and I have to say that it's a really hard choice. There are lots of great tracks, but if I HAD to choose one, it would definitely be Companeros. The trumpets and violins mix perfectly with the guitar-background. One of the greatest songs in computer games ever. Glottis's Shop is also one of my favourites.
James Isaac Posted April 22, 2003 Posted April 22, 2003 I liked the Swanky Maximino song (I can play it on my piano now)
Darth Eggplant Posted April 23, 2003 Posted April 23, 2003 learn the rusty anchor and then have us all over for some lengua, mmmm lengua22
anomalousresult Posted May 7, 2003 Posted May 7, 2003 you mentioned using nero to copy grim audio. do ijust plonk in the grim disc and tell nero to copy it as an audio cd? i thought the whole point of scummrev was to extract the music to a listenable format that nero couldn't. erm... and does that mean scummrev will only work with music that isn't on the cd?
pakmannen Posted May 18, 2003 Posted May 18, 2003 Hi there! I think I like Companeros the best. Great stuff. Also, I was wondering if anyone has the cover art for the soundtrack? I only have a really small jpg, and I can't seem to find any high-res versions anywhere. It would be great if someone could tell me where to find it.
Jawa Eater Posted May 27, 2003 Posted May 27, 2003 I liked pretty much the whole sound track too, but if I had to pick one, it would be "Talking Limbo"

He's talking about the GF soundtrack, not the game CD. The music in the game files is customized for the game, so much of it is intentionally distorted, muffled, etc. and just about every track is intended to loop on a cue so they all fade out at the end instead of finishing properly, very annoying. Also, I think there are some tracks on the OST that aren't in the game, but don't quote me on that.
