the name came from along time ago when there was an enforced consumption of lime juice in the British navy to combat scurvy.

I knew of its origins, but people are so sensitive about words now a days... I was just curious. My friend called the British troops limeys and was just wondering. I don't care if you guys are pro or anti war, all I care about is that they help the US, even in WWII they were the only real helpful ally.

I wish I were British. Then I could have the accent! Then, I might not think women with the accent were any hotter than American women...

Count me in. :p Born in Essex, England...raised in Wales...with Irish somewhere in my ancestry. Hell, I'm a mongrel.

About accents...which one? We have so many different accents across the country. Unfortunately we seem to be stereo-typed as the stiff-upper-lip English gentleman "How now brown cow", or the cap-tipping "watch-yer-guv" cockneys...

We have regional accents, just like the US. ;)

Stormhammer! Remember Me, I used to be Annoying, But I changed. Im good now :).

anyway.....

Thanks Darky, and about the accents, its the same in wales. Most people think of the welsh accent like 'Oh I'm going down the valleeeeeys now in'i' '

Oh and I found out that people say welsh people say things like, 'I'll be there now in a minute' which I found out I used all the time. :D

Yeah, I'm a Brit. Born and raised (and still living) in the South East of England. Canterbury to be specific :)

Sorry, but am I the only one that felt sick after reading that? Which history books did you read?

You didn't join the war effort until 1942 - and only because it came knocking on your door step! Us, the French, Russia and other countries were fighting on the front lines - with many countries occupied, like France. I think you were a slightly helpful ally to all of us, not just that the UK were the "only" helpful ally to you.

Sorry, but I couldn't let that one pass without comment. Don't want to start a historical debate.
