Sithxace
seriously, why wont they make one? -in chat with lucasarts president about them cuttin starwars title yeah ok, but dont lucasarts want to make money? aint the formula is make what we want to buy not no gladius crap. Lets see after them hearing lots and lots of us say we want an xwing sequel, wouldnt that tell them we despritely want it and mean they would make lots of money. Seriously it wont hurt to make one, its the right time with technology alrdy a lot better than when xwing alliance came out. So i say if we all bug and ask about another xwing sequel to be out, we would hopefully get our wish, you would think. I just hope that im wrong right now and they are makin it, because they ussually announce their games when half way or nearly done so i just hope so. Darklighter
Cos they already have the Rogue Squadron series, plain and simple. It would be great if they did make a sequel though: I've heard loads about it, and never got to play the original.
Pnut_Man
There should be tons of info on this new Rogue Squadron by next month. Stay tuned to that.

The_One
They do like their Star Wars titles, but only things that are a GUARANTEED sell. That's why there is a new JK game, Star Wars Galaxies is bound to be a hit, and has long term profit for LEC. KOTOR is also going to be very popular. The only other Star Wars titles they do are movie cash-ins. Unfortunately, there just isn't a big market in the space-sim genre, hence the reason we are unlikely to see an X-Wing sequel any time soon

I] Actually, Gladius has a great chance to be a big seller because it will reach to more people than just the Star Wars group. And, all good things come to an end. RS is a pretty good substitute though.

ckcsaber
Rogue Squadron is nothing near the X-Wing/Tie-Fighter/Alliance series, and it does not quench my thirst for huge awesome space battles, and grueling dogfights. It has much more depth, offers a much different type of gameplay, and loads of different ships. It is more tactical than the Rogue series, which is more of a point and shoot system, with a few wingmate commands on the side. I too do not understand why LucasArts won't make another in the series. It attracts a whole different group of gamers than Rogue Squadron does, and offers a huge online community as well.
BCanr2d2
EXCUSE ME, LET ME SPEAK..... The most likely reason, which is a very valid one, is that they have had the call from GL not to make any classic trilogy based games until the new movies, and their tie-in games are done. I am pretty sure that was the news in 1998 or so when they did X-Wing Alliance that it was one of the last for a while, so they could go along with the rest of the Lucas group and concentrate on the new movies and the opportunities there.... Relatively speaking, LucasFilms and associated companies haven't really said too much about the classic trilogy from around 97-98 onwards, in regards to everything. This is to allow for the new movies to be aired, gain support, let people comprehend them, and then bring in new games that allow for these events to shape the classic trilogy games that will follow in 2006 and beyond... XERXES
theres no way that Lucas Arts will be able to please all eleventy billion star wars gamer fans. Be patient, in the meantime theres about 500 other games out there Star Wars related or not to play that will keep you busy.
Katarn07
OK, its not XW, but it is a sequel to LEC's original flight sim series. Yep, Secret Weapons is back with Secret Weapons Over Normandy. Just thought I'd post this here since it best fits. LEC is bringing back some of their earliest titles it seems... (although I am too young to care... But I do remember playing one of them at my cousin's house along with DOOM, DF, and Wolfenstein)

acdcfanbill
well, rogue squadern is nice and all, but it doesnt do it for me, it in its most basic form, is an arcade style game, where as the Xwing games are in my fav area of Simulation. you get to contol all or almost all, of the functions of your ship, recharg rates, sheild control, hyperspace jumps, carrying cargo. Its great in my opinion, and no new trilogy game will ever come close either, its not the same flying a naboo fighter or a jedi fighter, i didnt grow up wanting one of those terribly, i wanted an X-wing
Samuel Dravis
they should make one using the freespace 2 engine...that is a sweet sim...
ET Warrior
I personally would like an in-depth B-wing Simulator.......those were always my favorites...And i want more cockpit options..like, being able to dial down innertial compensators to make more crazy-go nuts style maneuvers, but if you crank out too many G's then the screen could go fuzzy and you could black out for awhile.....that's be neat..... BCanr2d2
Perhaps they could talk to Microsoft and get the engine off who ever in the end finished off Freelancer, it seems to be relatively epic looking, which is what SW is........... HANG ON......... How editable is Freelancer? I am sure someone is making some SW related stuff for it......
SPY_jmr1
TIE pack for FL here's some info for you... FL has turned out to be highly editible after some inital problems. (flight data is stored in INI files, and simple things like infocards and display info is hardwired into DLL's. idiots... ) the TIE's are rather well done, I thought so anyway...
