  1. I'm so pleased than every reservation I've had about Return to Monkey Island has completely evaporated since I completed my Thimbleweed Park playthrough (and realised it's actually a brilliant structured game with a satisfying and clever ending) and the trailer dropped (and showed me how great the game is going to look).
  2. I got tired of seeing a vocal minority spouting vitriol in supposedly LucasArts fans Facebook groups, so I created "Exited for Return to Monkey Island" group -- no shitposting allowed. So if you're interested in having some positive ReMI stuff in your Facebook feed... https://www.facebook.com/groups/excitedforreturntomonkeyisland/
  3. Still never got around to playing that. You'd think all the people that profess love for Fate would have been all over Mata Hari... but I've never seen anyone post about it! (Until now.)
  4. Ron said they'd evolved the design, which I think is an accurate description.
  5. Still a lot of negativity around on Facebook, etc. Yet when you run a poll you see it's a tiny vocal minority...
  6. Doh. I'm so used to it being more obscure than this 👕 I beat #Mojole #99 and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 4/6 🖤💚💚🖤🖤 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 💚💚💚💚💚 https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/
  7. Yep. If I have any reservations at all, it's with the stiffness and unnaturalness of the animation. Let's see how it plays in the final game...
  8. It was a general comment about wokeness and how the game better not be woke. Quote: "dont make it a leftist multiculti gender bs" [sic]
  9. The comments are at least 98% glowingly positive! There's been a huge sea change since the announcement, which is great to see. Yes, there's 2 or 3 (Edit: OK 8-10, I read further) mean ones, but in an ocean of positivity they don't count I like this one in particular: Fans don't know shit! I remember reading the original fan reaction to Battlestar Galactica... it's a shame it's no longer online, but it's hilarious given how the reboot series ending up eclipsing the original.
  10. I was definitely someone who felt let down when they first saw the new designs on announcement... but honestly now I've had time for them to sink it, and finally watched the new trailer... I'm SUPER EXCITED. I think it looks great. It's completely its own thing. And so it should be. I think I'd actually have been a little disappointed if they'd gotten Purcell and Chan back (which is crazy talk considering how much I love their work). But this looks NEW and DIFFERENT. Ron was totally right to push the series in a new direction after all this time. So consider me a Grumpy Curmudgeon converted to Excited Evangelist. I'm sure the rest of the grump sods who still can't get over the fact that the series hasn't looked the same twice in 30 years will come around eventually. I sure have. I CANNOT WAIT!
  11. SUPER HAPPY! And yes, I think I’m someone who’s up for a spoiler free thread. (Or maybe a separate spoiler thread.) I played MI2, CMI, EMI and TMI without knowing anything about them. I think I’d like ReMI to be the same. I’ve waited 20 years for this game. I can wait a few more months without knowing anything!
  12. God, I hope this man had some negative repercussions for this
  13. Yes! I recognised that voice and rewound to hear it again
  14. Yum! Bat drippings Assorted scales Cat knuckles Monkey flakes Spider Lungs Skink Toes
  15. MI1 Stewed Meat is technically in there (as is Stewed Fish) MI2 Toasted marshmallows (that are actually cotton swabs) Oh, and are there any weenies left? Fruit cocktail When are Cheetos mentioned in to MI2? Is there some piece of dialogue I've never seen?!? (Or, more likely, forgotten.)
  16. What film content is delivered at 1440? (Or are you referring to gaming?)
  17. 👕 I beat #Mojole #97 and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 6/6 💛💛💛🖤🖤 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 🖤💛🖤🖤🖤 🖤💚💚💛🖤 💚💚💚🖤🖤 💚💚💚💚💚 https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/
  18. I have noticed pixels before on cinema screens (when text appears mainly). It's pretty disconcerting, especially when you remember how much a cinema ticket can cost here in London! Fun fact: A 2K DCP package for a 2.35:1 film has only 858 vertical pixels 😳 ... and most cinemas are 2K (I've only just started noticing "4K" as a selling point in a few screens here).
  19. Loved Unavowed (although the biggest complaint you'll read about it @KestrelPi is the lack of puzzles -- it didn't both me). I also loved his earlier work, though. I think The Shivah and the Blackwell series are also wonderful.
  20. Absolutely. Stephen King says you should automatically cut 10% from your first draft -- no matter what. Just do it. He says it was some of the best advice he ever got and his writing improved as soon as he started doing it.
  21. Ah, I think you meant to say that MI has a dry wit. Saying it has "dry writing" is a very different thing! And here's an example of some rambling dialogue from TP (in contrast to your great streamlined example of from GF). This whole conversation could have been tighter IMO. If you were forced to cut a third from it, the audience wouldn't miss anything.
