Why not have some game awards right here in Lucasforums?

The first one is FPS and a new category will be coming up every week. Remember-The poll is gonna last for only 7 days, one week. Vote fast and let's see who's gonna win...

(Mods, caution me if I'm doing something wrong)

I'm in the same blastboat.... I have played Elite Force 1 and 2. Although storywise I think theyre better than either Jo/Ja, being able to use the saber alone redeems them for this SW fan.....

Btw, JA isnt really an FPS, its a first person and third person. So you cant really compare it with the other FPS

hey, in a looser sense of the description, KOTOR is a TPS too :p

I voted for JA - it is #2 on my all-time list, after all, so that's no surprise.

My thoughts:

- UT and BfV are MP games, and therefore of no interest to me at all. Heck, you might as well have put in Planetside for all I care (that is Sony's MMOFPS, right?)

- Deus Ex was great (one of my top 10 ever), but DX:IW will stand out as one of my biggest disappointments ever.

- Call of Duty is, to me, MoHAA++ (if you take my meaning ... see computer geek thread ;) ). Great game, really short, really, really short ... did I mention it was short?

- Halo? Nice sci-fi shooter. IMO, if you didn't get it for XBox in 2001 it is no big whoop. I didn't, and it isn't.

Jedi Academy can be played like a 'normal' FPS, in which case you miss half the fun, IMO. I like games with plot. MP games have no plot by design. CoD has a premise - replay battles. That isn't a plot - because a plot centers on character, and I could barely remember my name half the time.

No.

Period.

Shooter, for whatever other distortions, requires aiming. You do not - and cannot - aim in KotOR.

KotOR is a RPG. It is not even an 'action' RPG, like the Diablo class of hak-n-slashers, or a FP-RPG like Morrowind where you have to manually attack.

JA is a FPS by genre, but in reality the saber and force power based action change the nature of the game considerably.

Yeah, where the hell is the Quake series - which essentially defines the genre. And I wouldn't describe JA as a First Person Shooter - if you played the game purely on that basis, it would suck even more than it does so already :p Where is Dark Forces, now that is a FPS ;)

...and Serious Sam :D

Hullo? I never said these were all-time FPS games...

Well, your post clearly states "Best FPS," and to me, that means precisely that ;)

If you are having a "Best FPS" poll, then you missed out a substantial number of games the average gamer might wish to consider as the "Best FPS." Hence the confusion...

I think he was referring to something like the best of the last 6 months or something ... but perhaps he will do more thinking next time.

OMG CoD IzZ Teh R0x0rz OF ALL !`11!!1

That is why it is great that we have so many great games in different genres (FPS, RPG, etc) and subgenres (FPS with RPG-lite, RPG w/RTS, 'Action' RPG, etc).

I like CoD a lot - it is my favorite WWII game, passing MoHAA which passed RtCW. But at the same time there's probably 15 - 20 games I'd rather be playing.

Splinter Cell, Pandoras tomorrow.

if it's any FPS.....Halo.

Splinter Cell? Now, at least JA has some FPS elements in there - and you can play in FP should you wish, but Splinter Cell (and Pandora Tomorrow) is a third person game!
