TheHobGoblin
Wrestlemania XIX I love that game so much yet I hate the Revenge mode and how the AI gets so O.D out of nowhere Star Trek Elite Force II It's fun as hell but I hate the jumping puzzles, you never really have a team with you. Scrodo_Saggins
-originally posted by leXx-----That bit in COD, where you have to man the anti-aircraft gun and shoot the soldiers on the ledge at the same time. That bit annoyed the hell out of me, and took me at least 20 times to do. WORD!!!
Darth Homer
Ninja Gaiden It is so hard. Each boss will kill you until you figure out how to properly attack it. And the save points thing is annoying for that. You'd have to go back & fight through a 1/4th of the level to get back to the boss that kills you before you have a chance to move. StormHammer
The most annoying thing in games for me is when they don't give you the option to save at any point - and effectively auto-save when they feel like it. Having to go back to the beginning of a level, or to the last checkpoint to 'try that part of the level again' just seems completely pointless to me, and can end up being incredibly frustrating. Although there were 'checkpoints' in Far Cry, they seemed to be mostly well positioned, and not too annoying. In the game Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter, however, the checkpoints were often in the wrong place - and there was too much time between them, resulting in having to replay large chunks of a level. Does it kill a developer to put in a 'quicksave' button? Or do they intentionally want players to get frustrated for no good reason? The other thing I truly despise in games is cut scenes that you can't skip. This is especially true when you have to go through a cut scene after the last save point - and you watch the same cinematic 20 times over because that level is particularly tough and you keep dying until you've worked out how the devs wanted you to play it. When I sit down to play a game, I want to enjoy it - not tear my hair out replaying levels endlessly because they can only be completed one way, or watching endless cut scene re-runs. Both these issues can be very easily avoided by allowing for quick saves, and being able to press a key to skip cut scenes. There is absolutely NO GOOD REASON for their omission. The only other thing that annoys me is the spawn bombardments on some Enemy Territory servers, where as soon as you set foot outside you're turned to confetti. It's pathetic. Oh...and last but not least. Get rid of BOSS levels in games. They are incredibly boring and not really needed in this day and age.
acdcfanbill
well, very rarely do console games have a save anywhere function. i think thats a reason a lot of games lately for PC dont have them either, programmers dont want to make two different sets of save/load routines. plus, i think its probably more difficult when you let a player save anywhere than at specifict checkpoints, because you have to account for all the enemies in a lvl when u save anywhere, but at check points, u have a very good idea of whose dead, who not, who hasnt spawned yet, that sort of thing, much less to keep track of,a nd restart upon a load. Originally posted by acdcfanbill well, very rarely do console games have a save anywhere function. i think thats a reason a lot of games lately for PC dont have them either, programmers dont want to make two different sets of save/load routines. There you have it. Games that are cross-platform from the start - especially console first - rarely have this. I think of XIII, which falls into that category - the worst thing is that it was *supposed* to have quicksave, and it is documented and everything. Only in the forums do you get the official word that it was never done. For me that is just lazy. The other thing I truly despise in games is cut scenes that you can't skip. That I see as another lazy thing. We get the point - you want us to see that. Fine ... gave a variable somewhere, set it to '1' when we've seen it once and let us skip it after that. When my kids were little I used to game in short time periods, so something like that would really break a game for me ... like Half-Life. Oh...and last but not least. Get rid of BOSS levels in games. They are incredibly boring and not really needed in this day and age. I don't mind bosses per se, but as logical elements, and not required mega-battles. You're breaking out of prison, for instance, and you come across the head jailer who is 4x tougher than everyone else you've met - that is a good battle with a reason. You clear an area, flip a switch, enter a new area, and all doors lock, and you're in a confined area in a battle to the death against one thing that is 400x tougher than anything you've met, when it's dead life goes on as usual. That is what I can do without. I like flawed, non super-human bosses like Dessan or Tavion. Mike
toms
The controls/stability in Space Hulk: Vengance of the Blood Angels. Games without consistency (sometimes they notice you, sometimes they don't, etc...) Snipers with instant reflexes that hit you the second you pop out from a corner. The Seeker
I like flawed, non super-human bosses like Dessan or Tavion. Desann = worst boss ever. Way too weak once you hit him, and way too powerful in that you can't get close enough to spar and have fun. Tavion = best boss ever. She's not overly powerful, so you can get in close and bash sabers around for a while, and not so weak that she takes two swings on strong like Desann. Final note: No quicksaves in any game that is played on PC is the stupidest, most annoying thing ever.

That is what I can do without. I like flawed, non super-human bosses like Dessan or Tavion. Mike That was the context of which I was thinking. I don't mind coming across 'tougher' enemies in a level that make sense. It is the old 'locked in room with big bad boss and 100 health packs and ammo kits' scenario that is really beginning to annoy me. Probably because the whole situation is 'false' and out of context with the rest of the game. No arch villain in their right mind is going to lock you in a room where you can constantly heal yourself and have a constant supply of ammunition. There were only a couple of 'boss' type encounters in Far Cry, and they weren't too bad. You had an opportunity to stock up on ammo and health before the boss situation unfolded. After that, you were stuck with what you had and made the best of it. At least that was marginally more 'realistic'. The fight with the evil Twi'lek in JA was also quite good - because you encounter her twice, and both times you have to rely on your skills and your Force powers in a 1 v 1 duel, which makes a lot more sense. So I recant slightly on my blanket statement to do away with all boss levels. If they are designed with due consideration, and fit into a proper context (within the game), they can work quite effectively in giving the player a considerable challenge. Probably the best boss encounter I've had in a game is at the end of Thief: The Dark Project, where you actively seek to avoid combat, or indeed, detection, in order to defeat your enemy. Doomie
Broken sword 3- the sleeping dragon. Loved it, but the crate shoving puzzle's were annoying as heck. But usually it's just my brother that pisses me off. Hitman 2: No matter what, even if you're in disguise and haven't fired a single shot, if you walk by ANYONE, no matter the distance, your alert goes straight to red and they start firing for no friggin' reason! Well, not all disguises allow you to carry a gun around in sight, and when you run, they also become more aware of you, or when you stay near them for too long... But if you walk around without a gun , Don't run, but don't stay around for too long either, you should be fine. Only had that problem once, blasted the bloody fellow right trough the head Wow, lexx keeps amazing me, not only does she have another picture everytime i see her, she's also the quickest to get a KOTOR 2 image... But then again, Stormhammer is too. Probably the best boss encounter I've had in a game is at the end of Thief: The Dark Project, where you actively seek to avoid combat, or indeed, detection, in order to defeat your enemy. Haven't played it, i think i'll go for thief three. Does anyone know if it's out yet?

Reaper Girl
Star Craft...the expansion pack Its a challenge, a fun challenge to play Star Craft. But the expanded version drives me insane. Its almost as if it were programed to be annoying. The new units added to the game make it too difficult and too evil... I know it sounds dumb, but it causes me rage. Expansion set song of woe herding up my poor little blinded OverLords I set them out to pasture where they are shot to death and scream the annoying "raa-o-raat" thing made by a guy on crack in a sound room

toms
X-wing. last night. 25 Minutes into the level. I had protected the corvette and transports while they evacuated the cruiser. I had taken out the incoming gunboats and transports before they could do any damage. I had scuttled the cruiser so that the imperials didn't get hold of it. I had taken out all three imperial corvettes. All three of the transports had hyperspaced out, only the corvette was left. I had all my shields, both wingmen. There seemed to be only one gunboat left and i was zeroing in on it..... ... and it damn well suicided straight into me (on purpose) and wiped out my x-wing. aarrrrrgggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!! That is just evil AI. guess tonight i will need to try that level AGAIN!
