manoman81 Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 ...And I was wondering if anyone is using or should I really update to it? I know a guy that was beta testing it and he was not happy with it. Any thoughts?
edlib Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 It looks a little different, the "buttons" are in better places, and organizing the library seems a little better. But other than that there's no real difference that I can see. Works fine for me so far. If you get SP2 you'll end up with it anyway, so if you are planning on SP2 you might as well wait.
Nerd_Annhilator Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 No way in hell am I going back to it. Winamp forever. (and I'm keeping 9, its pretty decent for video files.) Plain old micrsoft ****.
Mex Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 *Downloads* Looks much better. I just hope it is better overall!

swphreak Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 It seems to work for me. No complaints. I'm still holding off on SP2.

Nerd_Annhilator Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 For the record, I'm not downloading SP2 until it is totally nesessary.
acdcfanbill Posted September 12, 2004 Posted September 12, 2004 its got better wireless support... :s

manoman81 Posted September 13, 2004 Author Posted September 13, 2004 I actually have the beta of SP2. There's not much to it except the firewall that comes with it. Thanks for the replies. WMP is not my main media player but I was just wondering if it was a most to upgrade it.
toms Posted September 13, 2004 Posted September 13, 2004 only if you want Janus Copy Protection or the new microsoft music download site.
Crow_Nest Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 I think MP10 is much better, the bars and waves (when playing music) is much better and the full screen view really zooms in to full screen unlike MP 9 and the older versions.
Mex Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 I just played a song in WMP10 and it sounds beautiful. *Hugs WMP*
Nerd_Annhilator Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 Winamp sounds better. You gotta mess with the equalizer though
Mex Posted September 16, 2004 Posted September 16, 2004 Winamp? Bah. That sucks. I used it and sound only came out two speakers. It was horrible.
toms Posted September 17, 2004 Posted September 17, 2004 WMP shouldn't affect the sound quality. Its a crummy media player, but not a bad media library. Since i don't need a media library i use media player classic, which is a much better media player. Unfortunately it won't be long until some other software i use will probably require a WMP upgrade, even if i don't use WMP. sigh. And it is probably gonna be the only software you can use with MS PMCs and anything that supports janus (such as napster). BUt since i want to stay as far away from that as possible (and avoid installing as much bloatware as possible) i'm staying well away from it until i'm FORCED to upgrade it.
Nairb Notneb Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 Microsoft is a scam. I've got SP2 but haven't installed it yet. I'm sort of afraid to ya know. Any time MS "fixes" something, something else needs a patch.
El Sitherino Posted September 19, 2004 Posted September 19, 2004 Quote Originally posted by Pal™ Winamp? Bah. That sucks. I used it and sound only came out two speakers. It was horrible. that's because you have a crap onboard sound card, anything will sound crappy on that.
Nairb Notneb Posted September 21, 2004 Posted September 21, 2004 I use winamp and Mediaplayer both and I prefer winamp actually. To me, the skins and stuff just get in the way. I need a player that plays sound well, anything else is a gimmick that will need a patch.
