Leper Messiah Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 something that suprises me, more about the prequels than the OT is that we have seen no particularly strong or prominent female Jedi. Is there a reason for this? in the EU there are quite a few kicking about at various points. so it would appear that theres not much reason for having none in the movies (unless the EU authors havnt researched their topic properly) despite there being plenty of oppertunity in these prequels to introduce one. The character of Mace Windu for instance could have worked as a woman (allthough dont get me wrong i love having Samuel L. in Star Wars ) any thoughts?
Doomie Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Aayla secura is cool... Too bad we've only seen her in the big battle (on screen at least) where she didn't really stand out. It was just a crawling heap of jedi, with some of them falling down and others not...
Shok_Tinoktin Posted November 9, 2004 Posted November 9, 2004 Do you mean prominent in the movies, or prominent in their world? By this I mean do they not have enough screen time/lines, or do we not see female Jedi in powerful positions? I'll agree that they may not have a lot of screen time, but we definitely see them in positions of power, like say, the Jedi Council.

mr.piercy Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 yea SW could stand to have some Jedi Chicks, but definently not as a replacement for Sam Jackson> His kick - @$$ attitude suits the role perfectly!< Qui - Gon - Ginn, in my opinion, could have easily been a Gurl.
Sivy Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 i think Aayla secura has a bigger role in Ep III, you actually see her in action i believe.
Evil Dark Jedi Posted November 10, 2004 Posted November 10, 2004 Originally posted by Sivy i think Aayla secura has a bigger role in Ep III, you actually see her in action i believe. Wonder what she is doing? Probably a saber fight.
Hannibal Posted November 11, 2004 Posted November 11, 2004 Originally posted by mr.piercy Qui - Gon - Ginn, in my opinion, could have easily been a Gurl. I always felt the same about that. He was such a wuss. Qui-Gon: Obi-Wan you must take time and smell the flowers. Obi-Wan: :rolls his eyes: Yeah yeah. When do we get to chop some stuff. Now you can replace Qui-Gon with Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan with Anakin. Originally posted by Sivy i think Aayla secura has a bigger role in Ep III, you actually see her in action i believe. I just read the chat with Amy Allen(the actress who plays Aayla Secura) and she said there is definitely more action but wouldn't get into specifics. She did say that in AOTC the saber she used had one of those fake blade attachments that the give when your going to simulate a fight but that in ROTS all she had was the handle.
Leper Messiah Posted November 12, 2004 Author Posted November 12, 2004 Originally posted by InsaneSith ;_; I want Aayla to live. heh, its established in the OT that at the episode 3 point in the saga if youre a jedi and your names not obi wan or yoda the game is up I never thought about the possibility of Qui-Gon being a woman. that could have been a pretty good move storyline, it could have put an interesting slant on Obi-Wan's reaction to Qui-Gons death and subsequent decision to train Anakin as Qui Gon would have done, and Anakins subsequent weakness to his feelings for Padme...
Nairb Notneb Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Well, originally Dooku's character (albeit a Sith and not a Jedi) was conceptually a female Sith. That would have been interesting I think.
mr.piercy Posted November 12, 2004 Posted November 12, 2004 Hey Sivy, nice sig! lol that is pretty witty!
90SK Posted November 13, 2004 Posted November 13, 2004 Well, originally Dooku's character (albeit a Sith and not a Jedi) was conceptually a female Sith. That would have been interesting I think. Indeed it would have. Thats one thing the movies lack completely: Female Sith.
darth_nemisis Posted November 14, 2004 Posted November 14, 2004 Well, Barris Offee and Luminara Unduli are great femal Jedi. But they haven't got many screen time.
