Well, "p" is next to "o" on the keyboard. So just as "teh" has become a humorously intentional mis-spelling of "the", "pwned" has become a humorously intentionaly mis-spelling of "owned" and has the same connotations re: leetspeakers and newbies.

Your right. People just started to put p instead of o and they spelt pwned.

Oh and shouldn't you be on AOL somewhere, JMD? :xp:

<_<

>_>

Why would I be on AOL?

Anyways at first I thought pwned meant pinged and thought pinged was some insult or something, then I learnede its owned.

and its "elite speak", not "leet speak" if you use them normal characters.

One person starts using it, and if it's cool it will spread. Similiar how "warez" got started, the Z made it kewl. 'kewl', another word..or werd...

Other seemingly cool things to do -

e= 3

e=£

e=€

o=p

l=1

a=4

a=@

random addition of X

random addition of Z

Constructing non-circley boring letters out of |/\

adding x0rz! to the end of words. eg. dixx0rz

Of course, there's the old classic of mis-spelling words that defy all the rules of the language(even though the language does anyway)

:)
