Aristotélēsticus
In the attack of the clones Yoda tell Kenobi to bring Jango to the counsel so they can take the answers from him but when Windo met with him he kill him instantly. So maybe he kills him to keep his evil face hidden as long as we know that (Samuel) said that there is a surprise about him in the 3rd film. Alegis
Bring him to the council to gain answers from him. Seeing as they were already in the cave of the lion they needed no extra information, and it was a battle. Wanted windu to try to take him hostage while Jango and the others tried to kill him, put him somewhere safe in a ship, and leave to the council (which was there in battle..)? And how about the others?
Aristotélēsticus
your words r true but what about the surprise Samuel L tell us about. anyway i have a good idea: The Sith lords has red light sabers and the Jedi masters has blue light sabers but Wind has a purple light saber (blue and red combined with each others) so maybe he is neutral. Sivy
if you read the book 'Shatterpoint' you will learn that Mace certainly isn't squeaky clean. however he isn't evil, the only reason they wanted obi-wan to bring in jango for questioning was to find out who hired him etc. however they found all this out at geonosis, so they no longer needed to ask him. Prime
Both Windu and Fett were combatants on a battlefield. Each accepted that they may be killed, and that they may kill.
Revan Solo
Windu was in danger because Jango wanted to kill him. He probably had no time to catch him alive without a risk.
johnnyoi
shatterpoint was a good book. It explained everything i wanted to know about Windu very well.

Palpatine certainly isn't a good guy, and he's Chancelor of the Republic...

swphreak
I was under the impression that Mace Windu killing Jango was accidental. If only Jango's jetpack didn't shortout or something and activate.
dark jedi 8
I'm pretty sure that GL wrote it so that mace killed him, he added the shorting out of the jet pack as a reason for the ease in which jango was killed. at least that's what i gathered from the commentary on the dvd and other talk. Mace's facial expression speaks volumes as well.
Derc
Mace had that facial expression of "Whoops...um...heh..." Like in one...

Usurpo
Orders can be intrepreted differently. Windo may have been told to bring him to the council, but he couldn't do that if he himself died, eh? The best thing to do was to attack, and hope Jango was smart enough to...well...DUCK? Besides that, though, Windu storming into Palpetines with the intent to kill him...doesn't the Jedi code say somthing about aggression like that? o.
Bobo
The Jedi are peacekeepers. but longtime enemys of the Sith. Jedi Kill sith. Sith harm people, and disrupt the peace so the jedi are peacekeeprs and that's their job. plus they knew Palpie might hurt them so. Hey lets go kill the idiot. butttt aparently things didnt go as planned....
adillon
and it may not necessarily be star wars 'canon' per se, but the form of lightsaber combat windu has mastered (vaapad?) borders dangerously close to the dark side of the force.
