TiE23
Longhorn has been revealed: and its now Windows Vista. Links: Tons of Pics and Videos Microsoft.com Video of Announcement Well, thats it! Windows in use is all rendered in 3D (though 2D), so stuff can be moved in different ways. I'm still waiting to hear reasons why we should buy them. But from what I've heard a lot of the changes are aesthetic, it looks like they've taken some hints from Mac and made Vista easy on the eyes. Some pics of course: TiE
Lorden Darkblade
Any pics of how it looks so far? I think I'll wait for some time till most of the bugs are found and corrected then I'll buy it
TiE23
The only thing I'm pissed about is all of this newbie oreinted interface. We know how to configuire stuff, we can figure out how to use new features. I just hope the second we get it the standard thing will be 3 million help pop-ups for the first month of use. *Pop* "Hello, this is the Windows Vista Mouse Trainer, this help tool will show you how to use the mouse, an important tool for any computer, safely and effectivly. First off, we want to cover some simple rules: The mouse is not an animal, do not "free" the mouse from its confines by unplugging the mouse. The mouse is not edible, do not consume the mouse. The mouse's buttons are nessicary for normal function, do not remove the buttons. Do not chew on the wire, serious electric shock and happen. The flat side of the mouse rests on the mousepad. The rounded side is the side you hold on to. The end the cord comes from points away from you. Move the mouse to move the cursor (pointing thingy). Stop eating paste and lead paint chips genious. Now you are ready to use your mouse! TiE
Samuel Dravis
Well, looks like the only question now is: Why upgrade? Unless they're hiding something really cool, it's not shaping up to be high on my list.

In no way is this directed to you, but this is what I think about "switching." After he posted this: Originaly posted by Me Holy ****!! I, who have been using a Windows computer since I was five, am now going decide I am going to throw out my $2000 computer, and my other $700 computer and all of its games, too. (INCLUDING HALF-LIFE 2, A GAME THAT RUNS EXCLUSIVLY ON WINDOWS!!!!) [[[Garry's mod is a HL2 Mod]]] - And I am going to switch to Linux on one computer, start my own website that is all pro-linux and against Windows and Bill Gates and his Nazi Microsoft company! And then I am going to get a Mac OSX, so I can use PhotoShop 7.0! even though I have been using PhotoShop on my Windows XP computer for over a year now! And those features! Like running games I don't have and don't like! And hell, its got a cooler interface! Did you know it has the Yellow Pages built into the interface? So I don't have to go on the web to look up a place to eat?! **** that! Thats for ****ing Windows yuppies! And after all of that, I would be happier, trying to get my Creative Zen Micro to work on the ****ing Apple, and finally laughing at all you stupid Bill Gates following **** tards! And tell you to make "The Switch"! Knowing that I just made no difference and seriously gimped my technical expertice. It was worth it! Link: http://forums.facepunchstudios.com/showthread.php?p=327649#post327649 Some people made some good replies. And I don't see how it is better making computers much more complicated is better. Think about your mom using Linux after she has been used to Windows (or Mac) for years. TiE

Black Knight of Keno
Originally posted by TiE 23 Think about your mom using Linux after she has been used to Windows (or Mac) for years. TiE Well I'll have to disagree with ya'... I was a devoted Windows user until my bro got Debian and I got to try it. Okay, I tried it, went back to my Windows and quite soon after that was whining for my bro to install Linux(Mostly because I actually had to reinstall Windows five times that month because of various problems). okay, so now I have Debian and I'm trying to decide which interferance should I choose. I took KDE and was absolutely happy with it untill I got my new Pentium II with Windows 98 installed onto it. Meh... Now I have a another drive with Linux on it, but I use Windows because I went and messed something up in the Linux drive... It's not my fault... It just won't boot up >_> Meh... Linux rocks... edlib
*sigh* Do we really need to turn this into yet another "My OS can beat up your OS!" thread? I use all 3 major OSes (OSX, WinXP, Linux) and they all have strong points, and weak points. None are perfect, and none of them excel at everything. They are all just tools, and sometimes one of them is the right tool for the job over another one... or perhaps that one fits better for the way you like to work. Choosing to use one product over another doesn't make you a superior human being in any way. Back on topic: The name is kinda silly... but does it really matter? I wasn't thrilled with the names Win ME or Win XP when they were announced either. Since I don't currently own a machine capable of running it, I guess I won't have to worry about upgrading right away anyways.

Smilodon
Hm, I will stay at WinXP for a while after upgrading from Win2000. TiE23
Originally posted by InsaneSith ... That's really stupid logic that makes absolutely no sense. Your point is? Linux is great for programers and stuff, but for kids like me, who just want to play games and Photoshop, XP is fine for me. jedigoku, for the few who understand what you are saying, how did you find out this info? No Home or Pro edition? And Astrotoy, why is that such a weird thing? Its not like they are going to be effected cause they have access to Visio or something.
