well, it certainly didn't take long for anti-game activists to get riled up after the 'Hot Coffee' incident. believe it or not, they're now targeting 'The Sims: 2'. check out the article from GameSpot below.

the link: http://www.gamespot.com/news/2005/07/22/news_6129609.htm

if anyone has played 'The Sims: 2' can confirm or deny this, please speak up.

of course, if you've never played that game, you can still post your thoughts below. ;)

Hmm... it looks like the article isn't there anymore...

When I click the linky I get this...

We're sorry, but we were unable to find the page you requested.

I see I'm not the only one! :D

EDIT: That Thompson guy is just stirring up trouble in an industry he has no clue about to get his 15 minutes of fame.

Doesn't work for me either, but I've already read the article.

I think that these game people get too upset about stuff like this. That sims game (by looking at the pic) didn't violate any rules for T games, I don't get why they are trying to make all these games look bad.

People really need to get their heads out of their bums! No one on that bandwagon is blaming themselves for the predicament. It is not the game's fault, its not the programmers' fault, its not even the writers' fault, it is our society as a whole that is to blame. And why is our society so messed up? BAD PARENTING!!!! If these naysayers don't watch what they are doing, they are going to need to get a glass bellybutton installed so they can look out into the real world.

Anti-computer swine!

Basically, I think this guy is jealous that other people can do this kind of stuff and he can't get past the embarassment etc of buying these games, because scretly he wants to. If you try to remove violence from everywhere you just create a cushion for children, and when they step out into the wide world they are going to have a gargantuan shock. Sure, San Andreas and GTA in general is likely to make some people think that shooting people doesn't hurt - but really, you have to be pretty brainless to be drawn in like that, I think.

But The Sims?! Come on - what's next - will Lego, for encouraging children to think they can be god or something?!

This is totally insane! Where will it stop?

Ha, lol. Thats an excellent point.

I couldn't believe it when I read this article. It sounds to me that this "Thompson " guy has some deep dark secrets of his own if he's thinking the Sims is a pedophile simulator.

It's not just the adults that are liberated from their wardrobes. Sims kids can also be nudified, "much to the delight, one can be sure, of pedophiles around the globe who can rehearse, in virtual reality, for their abuse.

What kind of person thinks like this.

These types of attacks against the game industry seem to come in waves though, its a huge industry and so makes for a big target, but really how much do these people really effect the game industry, I doubt much at all.

This guy will have his 15 minutes of fame then everyone will forget about him.

He's probly a virgin, and is therefore offended that you can take off the clothes of the sims and they can have sex (and he cant). Either that or hes a closet pedo himself.

My mom alwasys said that those who bitch the loudest are the most attracted to which they are bitching about.

My grandpa is a good example of this: When she was growing up, and when I was growing up, he would always complain about girls wearing such short skirts, but you would never see him not look at the girls that wore such things. hehe.

So this guy is probly in some dark closet secretly taking off the clothes of the sims and going: "ooooooh baby! I can see your smoothness! Oh you naughty bunch of pixels you!"

lol

Players never see a nude sim. If someone with an extreme amount of expertise and time were to remove the pixels, they would see that the sims have no genitals. They appear like Ken and Barbie."

Thompson doesn't buy it. "The sex and the nudity are in the game. That's the point. The blur is an admission that even the 'Ken and Barbie' features should not be displayed.

:disaprove

Oh great, now he's going to ban barbie dolls :p I bet my next door neighbors daughter will LOVE that ;)

I'm sorry but that guy is full of bull.

As I have stated elsewhere, most of the antigaming activists never played the games they try to get rid off themselves, I've seen very obvious mistakes which proove this in many reports about violent shooters or computer games in general both in newspapers and TV here in Germany...

Now speculate about the credibility of their reports and their arguments, I'm sure it isn't much different in the US

Very well put! Its similar to something that Jenna Jameson said on a recent episode of E! True Hollywood Story. While saying basically the same thing, she said she knows from dancing for these pervs before she became an adult film star.

Well, I mean, you have to be fairly brainless to go on violent rampages after playing GTA....The whole case seems to be about excusing people for their stupidity....

And the Sims- obviously this is just an attempt at the further implementation of IngSoc throughout the West.

Haven't politicans gotten tired of crusading against Grand Theft Auto and its various versions? Every law they pass (at least in the US, I don't know about abroad) gets ruled unconstitutional, yet they keep trying. Politicans pass pointless laws to seem like they are doing something to get reelected.

Also, because of the movie "The Wedding Crashers" (a very very good movie) a new law is being passed to make it illegal to have/wear/manufacture/sell fake Purple Heart medals, and a portion of the Wedding Crashers website has been removed because of this. Stupid politicians ruining our fun.

To be fair, it would be kinda insulting to a genuine war veteran to have his hard-won medal debased like that....

But I take your point. Politicians over here banned the hunting of foxes, purely on a political whim...because of silly city-dwelling sentamentalists, and Old Labour superstitions about class

True, it would be insulting if people actually did that, but the law was drafted in response to a 10-second clip from the movie. Doesn't Hollywood get any kind of creative license anymore?

That does suck about the fox-hunting ban, I'm guessing you're from England? It seems that politicians will rally against anything that they think will get them re-elected.

Wouldn't it be easier for a kid to look at internet porn via google rather than hacking or downloading someone else's mod or hack for a game such as the sims or GTA or sim city or kotor? Laws passed to ban kids from buying games that can be hacked/modded to have nudity are ridiculous.

Yeah, I'm from England. Or, as we prefer to call it now, Airstrip One.

And your dead on about politicians.....

I also have to agree with you about porn......It's utterly insane that this kind of thing goes into effect - and more to the point, who in the name of Zarquon's eyelids would want to watch Sims mating? Or virtual sex in GTA?

It reminds me of the "robot porn book" scenes in that episode of Futurama when they go to the robot planet....

EDIT: I like your sig :D

Verse 1 of the Red Dwarf end theme, isn't it?
