Fail.

I also fail to be disappointed, though, since we all knew something like this would happen and have had ample time to prepare the funeral.

True, but part of me always hoped that it would be 'just a rumor'.

I know I'm one of the few but I don't mind it being online, and I'm confident Bioware can make a good game that can compete with World of Warcraft and not make the same mistakes Sony made with Galaxies. Of course I'd rather have a real KotOR 3, but an MMO is better than nothing at all right?

nah, because nothing can still be filled with the proper something. it's harder to make the wrong thing go away and bring in the right thing...

no such thing

Err... What? Bland? Are you kidding me? It is Bioware. And it's not like we actually know that they're making it.

Fail.

That's rather unlike you, Inyri. Are you having a bad day?

That will, of course, be discovered as more is revealed. Let me make this clear - I would be willing to play it, if it didn't have any subscription fees.

EA MMO? No subscription? Not bloody likely.

maybe i overstated, but it's the simple truth that 'epic' describes no MMO in existence, and I doubt even Bioware could make that happen. MMOs always end up the same: grind grind grind.

I'm with Darth Moeller on this. I think it has potential to be a great game, if Bioware can take the best aspects of MMOs (e.g. updating content, social aspects, ability to play with millions of my closest friends) and minimize or eliminate the worst aspects of an MMO (griefing, spawn camping, etc.).

Would I much prefer a cRPG? Absolutely. I love the role-playing aspect and ability to tinker with my character and choose my destiny instead of the game choosing it for me. However, from a business standpoint, it's difficult to argue the financial success of games like WoW, Guild Wars, DDO, or LotRO.

Unfortunately, I dont think theyll ever eliminate such aspects - which I feel is the worst thing about such an MMO. All I'd want to do is maybe explore some Kinrath caves, when I get hit from behind and all I see is this:

Haha, pwned noob!

And then killed as soon as I reappear somewhere. Not my idea of fun.

And you can't really pick up and play with MMOs. If you do, you'll soon find yourself left behind. That's one of the reasons I love the KOTOR series - I can play an hour or so when I want to, not because I feel I have to.

I don't mind it being online either.

Also they haven't announced it on either Lucasarts or Bioware.com yet so everyone settle down.

Also, there is another thread of this in the KOTOR III section.

You're still looking for an official announcement from them to believe this?

When did you get so popular? :p

A cRPG would be better, and you're right that it's financially hard to argue against. Self-respect and good work ethic is a thing of the past once money becomes involved. God forbid they put out a good game when they could put out a better-selling but less engaging game. Sigh. I miss the good old days.

Stupid EA. This is all their fault. >.>

Not really, but saying that makes me feel a little better.

exactly, that's another big problem. MMOs require dedication, basically prohibiting you from playing anything else if you want to be able to survive in the world. If you just play short periods every so often like you would with a regular game, you'll quickly be left in the dust and are unlikely to recover from it.
