stingerhs
vocals!!! i seriously wonder why a lot of people don't like to classify vocals as an instrument. a lot of great music just wouldn't exist without them.
RC-1162
mostly because vocals are built-in "instruments" we're talking about things which we learn to play. still if you feel inclined to do so, go ahead and add vocals to the list. Vocals should be on the list, but there are some forms of "music" that don't utilize "singing," such as rap and punk. Heck, rap can be made without any traditional instruments.....drum machines, scratching records on a turntable, and hyperventilating overweight young men (the Fat Boys hehehe). Fuu
vocals!!! i seriously wonder why a lot of people don't like to classify vocals as an instrument. a lot of great music just wouldn't exist without them. Yeah! All of the musical instraments were originially created to do one thing: duplicate the human vocal range. I like to sing, and my vocal range is high Alto. I also play the Alto Sax. I was thinking about picking up the flute, since the fingering is the same. Learning to play music makes you better at math....wheeeee. ON a side note: How many of you read music? I've noticed many people who play an inst. dont read music. I'm getting pretty rusty at sight reading. Fuu

Fuu
If you learn piano you can learn alot of other instraments easier...... piano is a great first instrament....effective at teaching how to read music.... That is if you didnt learn by yourself without books or a teacher.............. Fuu

I'm getting pretty rusty at sight reading. I do read music. I have a music degree in piano and I have also been teaching piano & music theory while I was a student. I also learned clarinet but never really invested much time in it.

I did take electric and upright bass lessons from a music professor while I was in college, but that is the last time I did any sight reading. ChAiNz.2da
herrmm... Guitar - Electric / Classic (Acoustic) / Spanish Classic, Bass, Drums, Piano (limited)... I read & write music, tablature is the tool of the Devil hehehe... (though convenient)... for those who want to get "serious" in the music business, learn to read & write music... trust me... and vocals do count as an instrument IMO. I've known vocalists and admire what they can do. I've tried, and needless to say the dogs in the neighborhood agree with me when I say I can't do it .. hehehe I've been "submerged" in music my whole life from both sides of the family, and have been playing since I was 9 years old.. do the math and that's 23 years

One name: Russell Watson (if anyone has heard of him) By the way, does this mean that my singing in the shower makes me a musician? hehe
