mmarsh Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 OK I like th rest of you are eagerly awaiting this game, but I have a concern. All the articles I've read say the Empire is very very powerful. They have the advantage in both quanitity and quality of units. They also have access to the superweapons. My question is this, how does a Rebel player compete against that? According to my calculation the only advantage the Rebs have is in the starfighter catagory, and they have to steal those plans at that.
FleetAdmiral AK Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 the mon cal has 3 shields at least that's what I read somewhere.
Darth_Extas Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Welcome to the forums! As well at the same tech level the rebels get Red Squardon, which can counter most super units namely the Death Star... If they survive the battle.
FleetAdmiral AK Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 According to my calculation the only advantage the Rebs have is in the starfighter catagory, and they have to steal those plans at that. I think he put in the starfighter thing extras
killerluk Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 also the blockade running option is a great advantage
shadowsfm Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 reb ground vehicles have shields, reb infentry are a bit better, but balenced so that theres less in a squad. reb star cruisers are faster while imp cruisers hit harder but as long as you remember your rock, paper, sissers, you'll be fine
Admiral Sith Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 reb ground vehicles have shields Where the hell did you get that from?
xhh2a Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Remember that Chewy and Solo can steal enemy viecles. Remember that video?
Athanasios Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 According to my calculation the only advantage the Rebs have is in the starfighter catagory... I think rebs' shielded vehicles will do quite good job against imps' ones, as long as they have number advantage. In FC, the shield fell very quickly, meaning that imps have greater firepower. Also, in FC infiltrators could steal enemy vehicles, making them unique. Personally, im going to play with rebs since they have a better art concept on their units and, besides, they're the good guys
Jeff Posted January 9, 2006 Posted January 9, 2006 Rebels have better starfighters (X-Wing > TIE Fighter), and on the ground they rely on strategy and stealth.
Daddyboom Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 didn't one of the diaries say that rebs could land near or in enemy bases? I thought that was in a diary.
Stival Discipal Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Rebels.... having an advantage? Surely you all must be overestimating there chances...
Darth_Extas Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 Famouse quote from Grand Moff Tarkin, I think Delphi would do something enough to balance the game, though at the timeline of the game the Empire is nearing its height of power before the BOY(Battle of Yavin). At most the Rebels will have better intellegence resources as well as the ability to capture ally with the people of the planet they land on.
lukeiamyourdad Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 That's true because the Rebels won their first victory right before ANH. It was where they stole the plans for the Death Star. Of course, that's the theory and everything. Game balance will win the day
aggie_john Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 I am sure their stuff is cheaper and dont forget the x-wing, fighter/bomber. Rebels think small scale and it works, xwings take down the Death star, awings take down SSD's in ROTJ, so dont worry rebel players, if you lose it wont be because of tech. Its because you suck....heehee.
shadowsfm Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 thats harsh they are stratageticly challenged
Admiral Sith Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 awings take down SSD's in ROTJ It was the concentrated firepower from the entire Rebel fleet that barely took down the Executer, if you read the book a single A-Wing gets caught in the blast and none crashed into the bridge.
shadowsfm Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 and thats after taking out its bridge shields
gamefreak Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 It was the concentrated firepower from the entire Rebel fleet that barely took down the Executer, if you read the book a single A-Wing gets caught in the blast and none crashed into the bridge. A A-wing took out he forward bridge deflector shields and a A-wing crashed into the bridge destroying the navagation system and it fell into the death stars orbit. Ackbar had the Idea to concentrate fire power but before most ships could respond it was already going down.
Jan Gaarni Posted January 10, 2006 Posted January 10, 2006 lol, yeah, right. They barraged the ship. Shields around the bridge section went down, allowing 2 A-Wings to take out one of the sensor domes. A third unlucky pilot, managed to steer his banged up ship straight thru the bridge windows.
MasterJack Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 The rebels have the light side of the force on their side and with good tactics and careful planning you can defeat the empire (just watch the movies to see how to win) As Yoda said "At an end your rule is.....and not short enough it was"
lukeiamyourdad Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 A third unlucky pilot, managed to steer his banged up ship straight thru the bridge windows. Relatively unlucky. He's a real hero now! He probably got a medal! Given to his wife and kids!
FleetAdmiral AK Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Or yoda's better quote ''When 900 years you reach look as good you will not Hmm....'' Back on topic the rebel's have more determination
Admiral Sith Posted January 11, 2006 Posted January 11, 2006 Read the book, he did not crash into the bridge he was caught in the blast
