Emperor Devon
But please excuse my ignorance, what is Cerebral Palsy? I get that the cerebrum is part of the brain, but that's all. It's something that occurs in every 2 - 2.5 out of 1,000 births. Some types of it are spastic, athetoid, ataxic, and sometimes a mix. For ataxia, there are problems in walking. Visual or audirotiral processing problems can be included. It damages the cerebellum. The athetoid version results in involuntary body movements. Damage occurs to the extrapyramidal motor system, sometimes pyramidal tract too,and to the basal ganglia. The spastic type is the most common. It results in difficulty in movements. It is classified with topography, and sounds like what Tsych has. Some subdivisions of spastic CP are tetraplegia, which affects all limbs and the head, diplegia, which affects both lower limbs, and hemiplegia, in which only one side of the body is involved. If you want, I can go into more depth, but I'm sure Tsych could explain it in a personal manner than I could. My sympathies, Tysyacha.

Extra points if you know where the basal ganglia are without googling/searching it.... My ex-boyfriend happened to have CP, and he was extremely bright. Even though it didn't work out for us, I still think fondly of him. Tysy, I don't have CP and I still manage to fall on a semi-regular basis. My most spectacular was in my office. I forgot the rolling chair I was sitting in had a wheel that would stick now and then. I was wearing an outfit that was polyester and a little slippery. I pushed back to make the chair roll; the wheel stuck and the chair stopped abruptly. Unfortunately, I did not. I slid completely off the darn thing and landed on my butt on the floor at the feet of 2 teens. Fortunately, I didn't hurt myself or any of my instruments. My pride, on the other hand.... Emperor Devon
Geez, Emperor Devon, you'd think you're going to med school or something. My expertise is in political and historical matters. I do have an interest in some medical subjects, though. Extra points if you know where the basal ganglia are without googling/searching it.... Diego Varen
I'm putting you on the idol thread, I'm very impressed that you can put up with that kind of thing. No, I'm not patronizing, just sincere (something my own friends lack). But please excuse my ignorance, what is Cerebral Palsy? I get that the cerebrum is part of the brain, but that's all. I once knew someone with Cerebral Palsy. Sorry for going Off-Topic.

HerbieZ
Impressive. Another pet peeve of mine: People storming in my room to get a towel from the towel cupboard. Specificaly in the morning, i like to sleep semi-nude so it's a shock to wake up and see the towel cupboard open and my bedroom door open and be not covered up. It's like teams of fleas in my brain are triggered. Damned annoying.
Davinq
Another pet peeve of mine. Please don't debate about it, I would like to keep the thread on topic. Homophobics. I think it's so rude when people are so disrespectful to gays. Like for example, there is an actual gay at my school, and he actually hangs out with a large group of girls. Unfortunately, every day some person comes up to him and calls him a fag. It pains me to see any human being put down like that (like most I could probably bring up a few exceptions, namely my rival/enemy, but still...). Davinq
I thought of another one. It goes without saying, but I'll say it and get going: SPAM. Leave it to the ones the most guilty of the infraction to post it as a pet peeve! -RH That is cold, Hawke...

St. Jimmy
I hate. 'Baby on Board' signs in cars. Seriously, yep, sure, congratulations but really, what's the point? They don't make people reconsider anything that they were allready doing. And usually you can tell there's children in the car 'cause there's sticky hand marks all over the windows (which is another thing I hate.) AND, people who think they have the right to just go up and touch your car and get it all dirty with their hand dirtyness. Crap, that annoys me. HerbieZ
An addition to that is 'Small person onboard'. Well it's nice to know the car infront will ferry midgets in their spare time.

HerbieZ
ITunes 7. Evil piece of technology. How can they take something that works, and make it buggy. Its impossibly to listen to music while surfing the web now. Good news on the towel cupboard front peeps, i moved a shelf out onto the landing and now the towels are stored there, after 19 years i can finally sleep in the nude in peace! The Doctor
How is iTunes 7 buggy, exactly? I have no problem using it while online, or any other time, for that matter. I find it quite sexy, actually. @ Topic: This may be somewhat inappropriate, but I'm saying it anyway. People who complain about one brand of condoms just because the schools offer them for free. Durex works just as well as Trojan, guys. I also hate trumpet players. Arrogant bastards. And every trumpet player I know is arrogant, so nobody tell me they're not. They are. People who complain to me about the weather as if I can do something to fix it. Seriously. I can't do anything about it. I'm good, but not that good. The fact that the smiley doesn't work when you use a capital P. It just bugs me. Quoted for pure and obvious truth. I couldn't agree more. Homosexuality is not a disease. It's not a disorder. Using the term 'gay' as an insult is the mark of a true idiot. It's stupid. Stop doing it. In fact, racism and prejudice in general piss the hell out of me. If you don't people who are different, then you're going to find yourself with very few friends. Grow the **** up. No, that's not directed at anyone here. It's more directed to the world in general.
