CountVerilucus Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Just wondering if anybody downloads torrents using bitlord, azureus, bittorrent or others. I use azureus but it seems like downloads take forever. If anybody know how to speed it up tell me.
CountVerilucus Posted September 30, 2006 Author Posted September 30, 2006 umm, maybe EDIT: dont want to double post so...i think i got the problem fixed. Just surfing around online for solutions, I was able to increase download speed to 400-500 kb/s. Problems with nat errors, routers, port addresses, and win xp sp slowing download speed.
coupes. Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 BitTorrent clients are not illegal, but some of the things you can download through them are, so be careful what you talk about in here. Remember that warez or illegal downloads talk is prohibited on LucasForums.
Jeremia Skywalk Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 400-500kbs and you are complaining... well that is freaking twisted. I am thrilled if i get 70kbs from usa trackers and 200kbs from local ones, so, well, with 500kbs you don't realy need to wait for anything longer than 3 or so hours.
milo Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Meh. I've never really known anything about p2p file sharing.
HerbieZ Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I tend not to use torrents as they are slow imho, and i have a fast connection anyway so i don't really need p2p.
Fiestainabox Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I love Torrents, there the joy of my life. I use uTorrent only, I found everything else to be to disorganized and confusing, hard for those long downloads, and im wising I'd get your friggen speeds. I've gotten, at highest 150 kb/s
Det. Bart Lasiter Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I'm using uTorrent 1.6 currently. The highest download rate I've gotten at home with it is just over 1 MB/s.
Astrotoy7 Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 i use utorrent as well, as it is lightweight and suits my purposes. I hate bloating windows any more than is necessary:p I get 65kpbs, which is about standard for plebs like me with a 512 dsl cnxn. mtfbwya
Sabretooth Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I use uTorrent. Its ultra-lightweight, doesn't take up much RAM and is reasonably fast. Its not particularly flashy, but yeah, I like it.
igyman Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I use BitLord to download torrents. The speed, well, it can go from 15-30kbs to 30-50kbs, but it's mostly around 30.
Jeff Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I mainly use azureus, and I'm pretty happy with it. My best speed was somewhere around ~ 200 kb/s.
Lantzen Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I use azureus to, but it take a lot of cpu power so im thinking of changing to something else
goldberry Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I reccomend Shareaza. (http://www.shareaza.com) it is quite fast, and is reletively well monitored. *yoink* Discussions about how to perform illegal activities are not allowed at Lucasforums. Astrotoy7 Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 *yoink I highly doubt that. They reap what they sow when such things happen. mtfbwya
CountVerilucus Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 My download speed when back into the 100-200 range, but i did get up to 500. Guess it depends who you are downloading from.
MTV2 Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 umm, maybe EDIT: dont want to double post so...i think i got the problem fixed. Just surfing around online for solutions, I was able to increase download speed to 400-500 kb/s. Problems with nat errors, routers, port addresses, and win xp sp slowing download speed. what! how the hell did you get it that high? I've used eveerything, Azureus, BitTornado, BitComet, BitLord, ABC and the highest i've gotten was 150kb/s for like 2 seconds on bitcomet! Teach me.
Sabretooth Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 *Looks at speeds* How I wish I went above 12 kb/s... *sigh*
lukeiamyourdad Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Your speed can also be affected by the number of seeders and downloaders and how much you, yourself, upload. I am stuck with a pretty tight uploading limit so I reduce my uploads while using Torrents (yeah, I'm a leecher, go to hell, I'm not paying the penalties for going over my upload limit). It can allow me decent speeds. Usually, it'll go around 100-200 kB/s, but if the day is good, it gets over 450-500 kB/s. Also, for those with very low speeds, perhaps you should seek another torrent with more seeders or you can always wait. Speed usually goes up after a while.
CountVerilucus Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 MTV2, stuff to do with your router and IP address, also windows sp 2 slows it down and theres a patch you can download to speed it up. I can really explain it since im not too computer savy, just google on how to speed up torrent downloads and see what you can do.
Jeremia Skywalk Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Shareaza is NOT fast -_-. anyways i use bitcomet, tried azureus for a while but it sucked much worse IMO. haven't tried utorrent, heard good stuff bout it but.. guess i'm just too lazy to download it.

CountVerilucus Posted October 1, 2006 Author Posted October 1, 2006 To help hide my IP, I am using peer guardian 2 program. Anybody have comments on this? EDIT: I just became aware of the difference between kB (kilobyte) and kb (kilobit) right now I'm getting about 50 kB/s (which is 400 kilobits I believe), is that good? Still taking a really long time though.
