"Well, I'd better go and get Bob," Aya said, rising and tucking the coin back underneath her clothing. She looked up, noting that Carwyn was 'practicing' with his newly strung bow. "Before he and I get skewered by a rogue arrow," she said jokingly, though loud enough, she hoped, for Carwyn to hear her in his nearby perch.

She turned to leave, but then paused and turned back. "You know, there's this old woman in the Old Town of Ryuu-Tokai that my father sold some artefacts to once. Nothing really spectacular or anything," she clarified, "just bits of pottery and stuff. But she seemed fairly knowledgable about the kinds of stuff she wanted. Picky like, from what I can remember. But, maybe she can help you with that parchment of yours. If she's still alive that is. She was old. Really, really old. 'Course, I was only about eleven at the time...." She grinned. "Anyone over 20 was old to me then."

Carwyn thought he heard someone mention "rogue arrow". Looking down he saw Aya conversing with Kyo. He was pretty sure it was the merchant woman who'd said it, referring to him. Carwyn smiled as he took two more arrows from his quiver and fitted them against the string of his bow.

"Trust me, Aya," he called down. "These arrows are anything but rogue."

Toa leaned over to look at the parchment, but was surprised to find that the characters were those in the inscriptions in the Flame Temple of Pyro, who was a pyromacer general of Obakenare and lead the flame armies, which was located on the beach of the magma sea. But they were arranged differently, so he doubted that they said the same thing as the inscriptions. None one actually went into the temple, since a nest of 20 ft. long magma snakes lived in there. He had strayed there once as a child, nearly got killed, and then spanked by his mom so bad he didn't sit for a week. He chuckled at the memory and asked "Do you know how to pronounce that?"

Aya waved to Carwyn. "I trust the arrows completely," she called up to him. Then she grinned slyly. "It's the archer I was worried about," she said jokingly. "Two at at time? You're showing off!"

She pointed to Bob. "I put the arrows in the top pack," she said to Carwyn on a more serious note. "Don't want you to run out of them on the way to the shore. If you need some, let me know."

She nodded to Kyo in farewell, and then began to walk towards where Bob was hobbled in the grass. She was ready to go.

Xan wasn't even finished with his last round before the caravan was getting straight again. 'Can't wait to get moving...that Irithoi,' he thought with a light chuckle.

Xan assumed since the circle was braking, he himself could take a break. He headed to the wagon he kept his gear in, and slipped inside. He looked at his possessions; a tattered roll, which consisted or his sleeping bag and tent - His weapons were on him, so was his armor, well, except his helmet.

He stared at his helmet, with the better light, and even with blurred vision he could see it was dented rather well. Who ever hit him, hit him hard! He kept surveying his gear, he saw his old lute that he carried everywhere with him. He had his panpipes, which were tied on a string around his neck; he had his tiny money purse, filled with a few measly coins.

He saw his tap hammer, which he used for light maintenance of his weapons and armor. Last but not least he had his ol'tattered rucsac with his Akkan in it. Xan smiled, but it quickly faded as he noticed his rucsac empty. He practically shouted, but he stifled it. He paniced, looking around in an aimless tizzy.

"Where is it? Where is it?" He asked to himself. He poked his head outside the wagon, and searched around frantically. He looked from one person to the next, on the ground, on the wagons, in the air, but his gaze finally rested on it, right behind the swordsman, the one who had approached him and asked him to stop harrassing Hoshiko. The merchant, Aya, was nearby, but she hadn't noticed him.

Xan practically swallowed his tongue he inhaled so sharply to stifle himself from calling out. If there was one thing he'd like to keep to himself more than his face and eyes, it was Akkan. Xan hurled himself out of the wagon, but his landing was not graceful, he ended up face in the dirt.

Xan got up on all fours, he crawled towards the fluffy, but wirery, white haired little dog. It was aimlessly sniffing the swordsman from behind, 'no! Bad Akkan!' He thought to himself, picking up the pace to get to the dog before someone saw it.

Xan was right near the swordsman, but behind him, sprawled on the ground, he had approached with much stealth. Xan started to reach out to the little critter, ever so slowly.

Kyo looked up at Toa. "If I could pronounce them, I wouldn't need to go to Ryuu-Tokai." He glanced over to Aya. It seemed that she knew of the woman he was looking for...

He suddenly heard a snuffling near his foot. He looked down, and scooped a small, white dog into his hands. He saw Xan crawling nearby. "Um...this belongs to you?"

Xan let his head fall to the ground as the swordsman picked up Akkan.

"Um...this belongs to you?" Asked the man. Xan paniced, but in the end decided lying wasn't the answer.

"Erm...yes," he answered. Xan maneuvered with some difficulty to get into a more dignified position. He sat, cross-legged, or as cross-lgged as he could in armor. He tightened the cloth wrapped around his head and face.

Xan scooped the tiny dog up with one hand, he got up from his position and headed back to the wagon without a second thought.

Once there he stared at the little creature, he sighed and scratched behind one of it's ears, then he opened the rucsac, the critter's ears perked, then Xan tapped inside the sac, the small dog turned rather aimlessly at first, then ran into the sac. It was the closest thing Akkan had to shelter, and it was easier for Xan to carry him around in.

Akkan poked his head outside the rucsac, looking around until he found Xan. "You're hopless," whispered Xan with a light smile, as he stared at the creature. He had a kinship with this poor animal, it was entirely blind in one eye, yet it wasn't even an adult yet, nor was it a puppy. He and Xan both only had half their vision, yes, they had a kinship, though the dog was more carefree about it.

Xan decided to take the dog out near the trees, away from the people, so it could get some excersise and do it's business. He left the wagon walking slowly towards the trees, he stared distantly, and saddly towards the trees, petting Akkan mindlessly, his thoughts elsewhere.

He let the dog out, it scampered around, sniffed here and there, and did what it had to. Xan meanwhile, sat under a tree nearby, watching Akkan. He removed the cloth on his head, Akkan waddling over to Xan and sitting infront of him. Xan smiled, his stomach growled furiously, Akkan tilted his head as he heard the noise.

Xan scratched Akkan atop the head, "yeah, that mean ol'Takara never got us breakfast," he said softly to the dog, his smile widening as it let out a quiet yip.

Even was fully rested. And there was something he needed to know. Merchants usually just knew things, so he went over to Aya. "Say," he said, "Do you know how many days left we have in this land leg of the trip?"

"Should be about a half a day at a quick paced walk to the shore," Aya replied, while she petted Bob's velvety nose. "Then we'll board the ship, but we'll have to wait for the tide to go out before we can leave." She shrugged. "And I don't know much about tides, except that they come in and go out twice a day. If you want to know exactly what time the boat's leaving, you'd have to ask Irithoi."

Satisfied with the quality of the bowstring, Carwyn slid down the trunk of the tree carefully. Picking up his rucksack and shortbow, he shouldered them and got ready to leave. I hope we go soon, he thought. I'd like to retrieve those arrows...

Something clinked. Carwyn looked down. A small locket was on the ground at his feet. Swearing under his breath, he bent over and picked it up. Opening his coat, he examined one of its inside pockets. Sure enough, there was small hole there, just large enough for something like a locket to slip through. Sighing, he put the locket around his neck and hastily tucked it under his tunic.

"Should be about a half a day at a quick paced walk to the shore," Aya had said. That meant the caravan would likely get to the shore by tomorrow. Good. The captain he'd struck a deal with (just in case the caravan didn't already have a good ship) said he would only wait... well, it was two days now.

"Yes she did," Came Takara's voice, Xan was startled for a second, he didn't need to get knocked on the head twice in a row. "But the so-called 'grumpy guard' isn't likely to stay in one spot." Xan's expression softened, and he relaxed, laughing under breath. "I've been looking for you."

Xan smirked, "have you now? Well, I didn't know I was that charming and good looking," he teased, trying to seem less like an ol'weathered guard. Xan stood, taking the bowl, he bowed slightley, "domo," he said politely.

Xan took most of his bacon and half his eggs and tossed it down to Akkan, the dog ate greedily, the looked up for more. "No, no more, I need the rest," said Xan to the little critter. Xan smiled, and turned his attention back to Takara.

Xan's brow furrowed in concentration as he looked at her, he had commanded people in the military, so he had learned how to read people's moods and such, even when trying to hide them. He assumed something happened, but left it alone.

Xan smiled as best he could at her, his grey misted eyes searching her face. He went to eating his food that she had brought for him.

He didn't like the earie silence while he ate, so he decided to conversate as best as he knew how. "So...you have a son...you're so young, how did you come to have a child at your age?" He asked as politely as he could, trying not to tred in areas that might best be left personal and private. Even though he wasn't necessarily able to see the fine details of her face that would truely distinguish her age, he knew she was young by her voice, which had the air of youth about it.

The silence between Takara and Xan seemed suddenly thick with tension and the woman did not answer immediately. Finally, her voice low, she said, "I was married once..."

Forcing herself to sound a little more cheerful, she changed the subject, gesturing to the dog. "With how familiar he is to you, I doubt the pup just came to you in the night. How long has he been with you?"

"I think...." Irithoi said as he looked at the newcomer, "That we need to get moving."

He put his fingers to his lips and blew a sharp whistle, signaling to his right-hand in the lead wagon. A horse whinnied, and the caravan began moving again, the sound of hooves and groaning of carts filling up the once-silent morning.

"Yer friend can come, but I ain't payin' 'im.

"Thanks!" Istergard said smilling at him, then turning around and starting to leave.

"If yo don't mind, I would like to get to know all the people! Thanks again Akira" he continued with a joyful smile in his face. He walked around as the caravans started moving and looked around at those he saw in his path.

Suddenly Istergard felt an extreme headache and grabbed his head containing a scream, instinctivly he grabbed his swords, his eyes growing red but he managed to gain control again and he put the sword back in place.

"No! I will not surrender to it!" he whispered putting the sword back in its place. Luckily nobody saw and he moved on.

((OOC: Um...DV? That's kind of...weird, having a split personality like that <.< I can understand him sometimes 'not being himself' but, to have an entirely other person inside the body...))

Kyo readjusted his blade on his back, rolling a shoulder and getting a satisfying crack. He sighed softly, shouldered his pack, and began to follow the tide of people as the caravan began moving again.
