patient_zero
I'm tempted to give it a shot, but IE has never really given me problems. I don't know if I can see the advantages other than "...Google made it". I'm guessing that comic thing explains more, but half the pages aren't working for me at the moment. Perhaps I'll try again later and see if I'm convinced.

jrrtoken
I just downloaded it, and I'm using it right now. Honestly, it's pretty good, and it's not much different from Firefox. The Good Loading times are around the same as Firefox, but Chrome might be a millisecond slower than Firefox. It might just be a website timeout, or my ISP, or anything, so there's really not much difference than Firefox when it comes to loading times. I really like how you can arrange tabs by clicking and dragging, and I also like how dragging a tab out of the "tab bar" creates a second window. Downloading files is also really nice, as the download box is streamlined into the browser rather than having a separate window like in Firefox. The download time with a .5 MB file was also much faster in Chrome than Firefox. The idea of having the search box and the URL box combined isn't a new idea, but at least there's a dedicated search function intended to run in the URL box. I think the "Incognito" feature was developed specifically for hackers and pornography viewers in mind, though. The Okay The interface is alright, but hopefully since it's open source, there will be customizable themes. I really like using the default classic Windows setting on Firefox. The Bad The highlight function is a bit erratic and not that refined. Other than that, there's not a lot of serious bugs that I've yet to encounter. Conclusion All in all, it's a pretty decent browser, and it might become my default once the public release is out. All they need now is a large custom add-on community like Firefox, and Chrome might be my pride and joy.
Inyri
I think the "Incognito" feature was developed specifically for hackers and pornography viewers in mind, though.I think it's more likely that it was developed for folks who work in an office where they're using a company computer. Most people browsing porn or hacking are probably doing it from their own computer.

Arátoeldar
of course.. no version for mac There are clients for OSX and Linux, you just have to compile them yourself at this time : http://dev.chromium.org/developers/how-tos/build-instructions-os-x http://dev.chromium.org/developers/how-tos/build-instructions-linux
Hallucination
I'm maeking poast on it right now. I like the clean UI and how it leaves enough space on my screen that I can see it on the moon with my naked eye (through my roof, FYI), but I don't like my tabs at the very top of the screen. I also don't like how you can't click the mouse wheel to move the page around. On the more technical side, it seems to be loading pages slower than Firefox for me, and pages seem to crash every fourth time I open a new tab. El Sitherino
I also don't like how you can't click the mouse wheel to move the page around. You can probably fix that in "about:config". I'm not sure though, I haven't used it.
jrrtoken
One more thing: Why is it called Chrome? The interface is blue, not chrome. I demand satisfaction! I want a chrome GUI, dammit!
Da_man
I just downloaded Chrome, and I'm actually surprised how smooth it runs. The interface is really clean. I definitly like the "omnibox" idea.

I did some poking around and I couldn't see anything, but you can't even clean up your history without deleting at least everything you visited in the past day, so I guess they haven't implemented alotta them there fancy things yet. Sabretooth
Holy **** this thing is fast. Great for old and slow computers, because as far as general performance goes, I'm loving this. I also like how it looks and keeps everything minimal and not gimped like IE7. It's light on features right now; I'm really missing smooth scrolling. But the looks are great and everything looks and works smooth. The status bar is annoying in the way it keeps popping up. I'd rather turn it off. I'll have to go around with this now, but I'm sure as hell liking it.
Aash Li
Meh... Firefox is good enough for me, why try to reinvent the wheel (again)? I mean Firefox showed how to make a better browser than IE... >.> Not that Im saying Google shouldnt be making their own browser.
The Doctor
Well, I'll definitely be downloading the full version once it's released - the BETA is great. It's slick, fast, and has all the features I love about Firefox. I didn't even need to set up my Favourites tabs, like when I temporarily switched from Firefox to Safari for school purposes, and vice versa when I graduated. Me likes! EDIT: Playing around with some of the features, I opened up an Incognito window and read the little blurb it gave me. This last bit gave me a good chuckle: Going incognito doesn't affect the behaviour of other people, servers or software. Be wary of: Websites that collect or share information about you Internet service providers or employers that track the pages that you visit Malicious software that tracks your keystrokes in exchange for free smileys Surveillance by secret agents People standing behind you
Da_man
Yeah, there are actually some funny little blurbs in and around it. Like the big stuff in the options is called "Under the Hood."
tk102
Did you guys hear about all the hoopla with the original EULA? Evidently it was a copy-paste error and Google said they were fixing it.
Da_man
LOL. I didn't read it, but it doesn't matter to me because I don't design stuff. Maybe I'll figure out how to code stuff and make crap. EDIT: I'm not sure if it was real, but trying to access the social groups page made Chrome come up with a warning for Malware. What gives? Is this a bug, or is it the "Computer killer" virus I've been hearing about?
Prime
Well after reading the entire comic (which wasn't working for me this morning), I have to say the whole Chrome project looks very promising and that perhaps I was a bit paranoid earlier. You actually made it through the whole thing?
Sabretooth
You actually made it through the whole thing? I skipped the 4th part and a little bit of the 2nd. The rest was very good stuff, very enjoyable to read.
Astrotoy7
hmm...based on what some of you commies fellows have said, I might give this a go on my tablet pc ....will it love the pen like opera does? mtfbwya
Fiestainabox
I'm using it right now to post, and I do admit its really fast. But strangely, I've noticed something very weird, I'd thought I'd toss out a screen, It seems as though Chrome is taking up more memory, with 1 tab open, and the task manager, as firefox with 4 tabs open, I was thinking that was a little more than strange. Otherwise though, quite nice, Kinda scary though how it imported all of my saved passwords and user names straight into the browser, when I said to only import bookmarks... Another neat feature is that you can resize text input boxes, like the ones you use to post here.
tk102
Chrome has more initial overhead when launched, but scales better over time as more tabs are opened and closed.
