Rabish Bini
Forget Beatles and Rolling Stones, I'm talking about the two pioneering metal bands, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. Both formed in the same year, and thus, heavy metal was born! So which band do you think reigns supreme and why? I personally think Black Sabbath is the far better band, with many better songs than Zeppelin. Although I admit, I don't like Zeppelin that much (Don't hurt me!), there songs just seem so boring usually, and Plant's voice is horrible. The only song I can consistently listen to is Stairway to Heaven, while I regularly listen to Sabbath. Not to mention, Tony Iommi is a far superior guitarist to Jimmy Page, and created many of the things now cliche in metal, such as palm mutes and having guitars tuned to drop c. Plus, Sabbath had the bonus of having Dio in it, which deserves bonus points
Ztalker
I'm no metal fan at all, but I still have 'Crazy Train' 'Iron Man' 'Paranoid' and 'Dreamer' on my computer, with only Stairway scoring for Led Zeppelin. So for me, it's Black Sabbath.
Sabretooth
I refuse to vote since I like both bands. Why must there always be battles? Give peace a chance bro.
Salzella
that's not even a contest Led Zeppelin are just about the only band from further back than the nineties I listen to on a regular basis, and i despise Ozzy Osbourne deeply.
Commander Obi-Wan
I don't really listen to either to be honest. But, I don't dislike either too. I like more of the 'modern' metal, opposed to the pioneering bands there.
EnderWiggin
@Sabre - this is why all polls should have a required 'yoda' option. _EW_
Arátoeldar
I despise Ozzy Osbourne deeply. Why? I have my reasons for disliking Ozzy and hating Sharon. But I would like to know your's first.

Fredi
Damn, this is a hard decision. I love both bands but I think I will go with Led Zeppelin.
Arátoeldar
there are many, none of them particularly rational Mine is totally logical. When Ozzy was trying to make a come back after getting fired from Black Sabbath. Bassist Bob Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslak wrote most of the material for Blizzard of Oz. In 1986, Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslake sued Osbourne for unpaid royalties, eventually winning songwriting credits on Blizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman. The 2002 reissues of these albums are derided by fans due to the replacement of the original bass and drum tracks of Daisley and Kerslake with new ones by Osbourne's then-current drummer Mike Bordin and bassist Robert Trujillo. Fans and critics generally felt the move was dishonest, especially as no indication of the changes appears on the exterior packaging or sleeves of the altered albums (although stickers indicating this were later added.) Osbourne's wife and manager, Sharon, explained the re-recordings in a press conference: "Because of Daisley and Kerslake's abusive and unjust behaviour, Ozzy wanted to remove them from these recordings. "We turned a negative into a positive by adding a fresh sound to the original albums." Daisley and Kerslake deny the allegations of "abusive behaviour" and continue to battle for royalties owed them for their work on Blizzard of Ozz. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blizzard_of_Ozz The itch can go die in a fire. Another thing that irritates me is the fact that the Osbournes own the rights to the name Black Sabbath and not Tony Iommi.

Yea, that is irritating, considering Iommi is not only the founder, but the sole member to stay with the band it's whole career.
CommanderQ
I'd have to go with Led Zepplin. Black Sabbath was great, too, but Led Zepplin really churned out the really really awesome songs, in my opinion. this is why all polls should have a required 'yoda' option. _EW_ Agreed, with these type of poles, the Yoda option is definately needed:D

A_Dead_Jedi
I'd have to go with Led Zeppelin on this, since I usually can't understand Ozzy anyway.
adamqd
Crazy Train isn't Sabbath There's something wrong with you if you dont own a Led Zep album, Sabbath never really interested me, although Ozzy's 80's stuff was awesome and the Dio fronted Sabbath pwns. Out of the two I'd say Led Zeppelin
Rabish Bini
Crazy Train isn't Sabbath Yeah, it's still one of the best songs ever though although Ozzy's 80's stuff was awesome Especially the first two albums, before Randy Rhoads died
mimartin
Especially the first two albums, before Randy Rhoads died Agreed, Bizzard of Ozz and Diary of a Madman are the best Ozzy albums. Although Ozzy made some good songs after that, none of those albums came close to capturing the talent shown in the Randy Rhoads albums. The song writing, vocal and musical performance on those two albums was superb. Although neither contain my favorite Ozzy performance (see below). since I usually can't understand Ozzy anyway. You can’t understand Ozzy when he talks. He is perfectly clear when singing. Example: Close My Eyes Forever with Lita Ford (My favorite song with Ozzy singing. The question is who had the better hair? It was the 80s after all). Tommycat
Neither. Can't vote for Ozzy because of some of the reasons stated. Led Zeppelin used too many blues songs to really be considdered great. The lyrics we sing are not Led Zeppelin's. Quite frankly I considder Hendrix the father of metal, for his innovativeness. Sabbath and Zep are b7 stepchildren. I'd rather Alice Cooper be in it. CommanderQ
Hendrix, by far, is one of the best guitar players ever, and was definately the FATHER OF METAL!! Sadly he is not here on the voting list though...
Rabish Bini
Hendrix, by far, is one of the best guitar players ever, and was definately the FATHER OF METAL!! Sadly he is not here on the voting list though... He may be influential to all genres of music, but the music he played was not metal. Hendrix is overrated also, Rolling Stone rated him the best guitar player ever, not quite. His not on the list because he's not where metal came from. CommanderQ
Well, maybe instead of "Father" of Metal..he is more of a distant cousin that influenced it. But I wouldn't say he's overrated, he's excellent. He's best guitar player in other forms of guitar playing, maybe not so much metal, but you've got to admit, he was one of the best. Either way, I don't quite see the connection between Hendrix and the two bands battling it out here. Still, Led Zepplin is awesome:D
